Days passed and Niall seemed to give me breathing room, yet he appeared, as usually, up quickly some times, just to see me, touch me or say anything.
"I think he likes you?" Tess murmured to me. I just smiled and I shook my head, even if I lied.
"He likes us all?"
"Not my mother?"
I didn't ask why she thought that. I didn't have to do with it, and the risk was that Tess would tell her mom that I was talking about Niall. I didn't want that.
"We have a party tonight." said Mrs. Stanford to me quickly. She smiled a little bit and she almost seemed more friendly than she used to. "Tess will sleep as usual, but if you feel like it you can come down and join us when shes sleeping?"
I was startled
"What do you mean?"
"Niall and I think you should get some more free time away from Tess. Why not at a party? There are just ordinary people, but I think you will enjoy it."
"I'm just employed as a nanny?"
"But you're also a human being?" she said, and she snorted. "It's up to you!"
I stood at the top of the stairs and I heard everyone talking. The music played at a low level and everyone seemed to be in good spirits. I knew my place and that's because I wasn't sure if she was serious. Should I just go down to the party and say hi?
Niall appeared. He appeared from behind and I felt how he almost pressed himself against my back.
"I've been expecting you!"
"But I don't want to go down?"
He smiled and I felt his arms around my waist. I felt his lips began to slide over my neck and he seemed almost to test me.
"I'll go down!" I said therefore quickly, just to get him to stop. Niall laughed and he smiled big.
"Good, because I wouldn't have expected anything else?"
I was almost annoyed. Niall just smiled and he let me go completely. He took my hand and quickly he pulled me down the stairs. I was shaking all over by his presence, and I wondered if I really made the right choice? He pulled me into the salon and dropped my hand soon one could see us. I was surprised how many people were there and he took me around the room.
Niall slipped away and he began to talk business with a man. I tried to find someone else to go, when suddenly Mr. Stanford was standing in front of me. He smiled and he seemed to like that I had arrived.
"Is it okay?"
I nodded and I looked over at Niall. Everything was okay. Mr. Stanford laughed a little bit and he took his arm around my shoulder. He pulled me away to an old man, who stood and laughed with some others.
"This is our nanny!"
I blushed, because it felt wrong to be employed and still be at the party. The old man turned around and he looked at me.
"Ah! She who's so clever?"
I hesitated but he laughed.
"I was just joking, but I have heard that you are good at what you do and that you save your money to get into college."
I was surprised, but Mr. Stanford gave me a reassuring glance.
"He's a principal at a college and I have heard that you have opportunities to read further?"
I was surprised.
The old man smiled big and he looked at me with excited eyes.
"You can't stay here all your life?" he said almost jokingly. "But it was actually Nialls idea and he came up with that we should solve this for you."
I was almost shocked. Niall? How did Niall know that I wanted to go to college?
The man nodded and he gave me a business card.
"Call me when you have time and we can go through tests and other things. I promise that we will solve everything."
I was almost happy. My stomach tingled and I felt the whole I wanted to cheer.
Niall smiled and he looked at me a long time before he answered.
"Because I want to show that I care."
"By helping me to college?"
He nodded and he threw out his arms.
"Or do you want to stay here until Tess is eighteen years old and don't need you?"
I agreed. I looked down at the floor and I nodded.
"You're right, but it's so..."
He leaned slightly toward me.
"No, Maggie, stop to ponder and try to smile and live. You are like a small dictionary that has the answers to everything. Drop everything once?"
"I don't know how?"
He laughed. I felt how he took my hand and no one saw us leave the room. He pulled me up the stairs and quickly into my room. I wasn't scared and I wasn't surprised. He closed the door and he smiled at me.
He smiled and he laughed at the same time.
"I know you like my kisses. Kiss me and stop acting like an idiot."
"No Niall I'm not going to ..."
He stood closer to me.
"Now you understand what your problem is?" he whispered hoarsely. "You can't even kiss me without hesitation."
I was almost angry.
"But you're not my type."
He saw through my lie.
"Well I am exactly your type."
"And you know that?"
He nodded and he smiled big.
"Your kisses say it all. Kisses don't lie!"
I hesitated and I tried to think of something to say.
"Well they can lie?"
He shook his head.
"No darling, and certainly not yours."
I groaned silently. I wanted to, but I didn't. Niall was amused and I saw at him that he liked my reaction.
"Come on! One single kiss?"
He moved closer and finally touched my lips his. I kissed him and he answered it. It was as if the whole world was spinning around. I felt how he took his arms around my body and I felt him passionately let the tongue slip in between my lips. It was the most perfect kiss in the world and I couldn't resist him.
"Don't you see that you play with me?" Niall mumbled, and he ended the kiss. "I wanna have you, and you will do anything to just play with me?"
I was surprised.
"It's you playing with me?"
He smiled and shook his head quickly.
"No, I don't play when it's about serious things."
"But you are a playboy?"
He smiled big and he looked into my eyes.
"Maggie, find out the truth." he murmured tenderly. "Ask my family?"
"I can't go around asking them?"
He raised his eyebrows.
"Then you must trust me."
