"So, what are you saying?" Nate says, who is literally on the edge of the sofa.
"They were sending a message, a threat something big is going to happen soon" Jason replies with his jaw clenched tight.
"It was a warning" His voice is foreboding and dread fills me up.
Whatever it is, it is not good.
"So, what you're saying is that I am not allowed to go out of this room?" I asked Nate who was sitting on 'my' supposed bed.
"Yeah...after today's incident, Jason is taking special precautions, everyone's on alert and you being the target, you have to be, you know like...protected" Nate explained.
"How are you guys even sure that I am the target and that gang is not working for something else? I ask him curiously. Of course Jason has explained to me that since I am from a 'rich' family, that is the reason behind the interest of these people. I suppose it is logical but I am well...not very popular, you can say, in the world of 'rich and famous'.
"Look, this gang is new, okay...and a new gang like this one doesn't just go around messing with big names" He slowly told me as if it was a hard concept for me grasp. Well, I have been rather elusive about this whole drama so that makes sense.
"Yay! If being kidnapped was not enough, I am put on a house arrest...how wonderful!" I slumped on the window sill where I was sitting at the moment.
"Oh...I forgot to tell you..." He hesitated upon seeing my glare.
"There will be guards outside you doors at all time" He ran out the door before I could have lunged at him. That bitch!
"What do you want?" I asked Jason who slipped into room with his sneaky ways.
"Aren't you in foul mood today?" He sarcastically asked.
"Yeah well, a asshole locked me in this room, what do you expect?" I had the most absurd smile on my face saying this, which I am sure could have creep-ed out any psychopath.
"I should knock that muthafuka out" He fell on the bed face-first.
"What the fuck, Jason?" I ask him, putting the book I have been reading aside.
"I am admitting that I am a asshole and...I'm sleepy" Jason replies in a drowsy voice.
When I think about it, he does look exhausted, with dark rings under his eyes...his brimming with red eyes.
If I have to take a guess, I would say it is around like 9 in the evening, but looking at Jason one would think that it's around fucking 4 in the morning.
I already had dinner, like an hour ago, in this jail they call my bedroom. Losers...
"Okay" Jason smiled dreamily and I actually moved a little far from him, don't blame me, he looked creepy as fuck and high...really high.
"Why are you smiling?" I ask uncertainly.
"Because we are quoting 'TFIOS'" He replied, eyes closed and smiling contently.
"TFI...what?" I am confused, no literally though.
"The Fault In Our Stars, idiot" I am at the moment sure that Jason is high as shit.
"The fuck?" I comment.
I don't know what kind of drug Jason is on but I want to have it, whatever it fucking is.
"Mhm" Jason emits a sound and I know he is not going to give a proper reply...you know why, because the shit has already fallen asleep.
Okay, I know what TFIOS is, but why the hell would he say that we are quoting something from that book.
What's really surprising is the fact that Jason even knows about its existence, I thought guys hated that kind of stuff.
But then again, Jason is not a normal guy, so I really don't know what to expect from him.
"Jason, Jason!" I move his shoulder to wake him up.
Jason is up in a instant and grips my shoulder tightly.
His breathing is fast, his eyes frantically moving around and his hands are shaking.
One looking from afar might think Jason is calm and has situation under control, whatever that situation might be, but since it is my shoulders he is gripping, I can tell that he is not at his best and is hardly managing to keep sitting, let alone having some situation under control.
"Phew, you scared me for a second" He heaved a sigh.
"Why?" I asked curiously. I mean there was nothing to be scared about, right, nobody is just going to jump from under the bed-
You can be wrong about that, darling...
You'll be amazed to find how many monsters live around you...
"Ugh" He doesn't even try to reply, he just groans, again.
"Why?" I ask,my tone considerably softer than before.
"I don't...I don't want any harm hap...happening to you" He struggles to say the sentence properly and I have an intense desire to ask him what kind of drug he is on. Really, I have never seen a drug acting so intense that it makes the person unable to talk properly. I mean, even when you take weed, you can talk properly, and might I add, more awesomely.
Oh, his words, they didn't quite register in my brain before.
Wait, wait, wait...did he just say what he did?
He doesn't want any harm happening to me?
If I wasn't sure about him being high before, I sure as hell am now.
But may be he is telling the truth
Just look at his face, do you think he's just babbling some lie to you?
"What drug are you on!" I ask incredously.
"You" He breathes out and there is a sudden alertness in him, a sudden attentiveness.
I am stunned.
I am sure my mouth is happening.
He is looking at me with burning eyes, although they still appear to be glazed over.
I can't even form a comeback, that is how much I am stunned. The way he said those words, his tone, his breathlessness, his eyes...that intensity.
Unexpectedly, he almost goes limp, almost.
"Nothing is going to happen to me...right?"
"Hmm" Jason replies sleppily.
"Even with those guards stationed outside?" I ask again.
"Me told they go" He said.
I knew he was just on the verge of falling asleep again by the way his grip on my shoulders has loosened to almost nothing and of course by the way he speaking.
"So no gaurds?" I asked cautiously, what if he was just waiting for a reaction from me.
"Hmm" He said and practically slid down to bed.
I waited for a few minutes and checked if he was really asleep by poking him in the ribs. Hey! For the record, ribs are probably the most sensitive region, okay, so if he was awake, he would have jolted. But nothing of that sort happened and I happily slipped out of the room.
I am going to admit something.
I am lost.
What kind of idiot makes such a big godamn house, no, not house...a freaking mansion it is! May be a castle...that's actually too far fetched.
But really dude, I have been circling in corrdiors for probably half an hour and I hadn't found one corrdior which might be familiar.
A sudden sound breaks through the silent house and I hold my walk as well as my breath.
Why the fuck does someone keep breaking into this house?
"Shit" A familiar voice curses from the end of the corridor and I come out from my hiding place, which was...under a decorative wooden table.
It's Nate, he is talking to two other bulky kind of guys.
"Nate!" I shout, happy that I finally found a breathing, alive person. You don't know what kind of shit happens in the dark.
"WHAT THE FUCK!!" Nate shouted and he jumped. The other guys have disappeared somewhere, which I am grateful for.
I jumped too, why the hell is he shouting like a madmen.
"Geez, Nate, you almost gave me a heart-attack" I say and start moving towards him.
"Who are you?" Nate asks with slight hesitation but under the hesitation you can easily sense anger of some kind.
"Nate...Nate, it's me" I say as I reach him.
"God...Ella..." He breathes out while clutching his chest.
God, it must have looked like a scene, a mental patient appearing out of dark, no wonder he was scared.
"You scared me"
"I can tell"
"We've been searching for you...where were you?" He asks.
"Meh...just having a walk, you know, getting to know this house better and all that shit" I shrug.
Nate gives me a weird look at my answer.
"Thank God, Jason is sleeping, he would have killed everyone if you escaped again"
"No point in trying to escape, I know you guys will catch and bring me back here again" I say dejectedly, does it even matter if I try to escape again, I am sure they will catch me again or worse.
Nate flinched hearing my words but hey, the truth is always bitter.
"Lets go" He says.
I willingly follow him, I see no point in being difficult. The reason I slipped out from that room like a thief was that I was fucking sick of that room. No offence, the room is cool, awesome but there is only a certain amount of time you can keep staring at the same walls and not go insane.
Look who's talking, what to do you people say, oh yeah...lol.
"Sleep, it's already around 10:30" Nate commands as soon as we near my room.
"Goodnight, Ella" Nate wishes me as he flips the switch and walks out the room, closing the door behind him like usual.
"Goodnight, Nate" I whisper back, hopefully he actually heard it.
I guess they took Jason away or he himself went away, because when we came back, he was nowhere in sight. Whatever, at least he is not hogging the bed.
"Mommy, where are you?" A 6 year old girl is roaming around the empty house, wondering where everyone is.
"Hey, sweetheart, your mommy is not here but may be I can help you" 30-something year old man butler crouches down to speak to the little girl.
The girl has her black hair in little pigtails and with curiosity in her round, hazel eyes, she looks up at the butler.
"Okay" She nods.
"So, what do you need help with, Ella?" The butler asks, little Ella in his arms now.
"I just wanted to play with dolls" She replies.

"Where is Mommy?" Ella asks again.
"I don't know, love" The butler, sitting awkwardly in the tiny chair opposite Ella, answers.
"Don't lie to me, James" Her soft voice is surprisingly stern and James is stunned momentarily.
James hesitates, what was he tell to a 6-year old after all.
"She is not at home, darling" He answers the most truthful lie he can make up.
Ella's eyes fill up with tears instantly.
"Why?" She asks, sobbing.
"Sh..she said that she will have tea with me, wher...where is...sh...sh...she?"
"Oh, darling" James scoops up the sobbing little girl in his arms.
"Mommy did...did not tell m..me" She continues.
"...tha...that she will not have tea...sh...she...lo...loves ...t...tea"
"Sh...Ella, it's okay" James comforts her.
"She will be here for the dinner" He says again.
"You will stop crying now, okay sweetheart, Mommy wouldn't like to see you crying" James says.
"Okay" The little girl said, clumsily wiping her tears.

"Daddy, daddy...who's in that casket?" Little Ella tugged on her father's pants to gain his attention.
She did it twice again until her father's eyes drifted down to her.
They were red and swollen and he was crying.
She had never seen him cry before.
"Daddy, why are you crying?" Ella questioned innocently, one hand cluthcing her favourite teddy bear 'Dusty', as she liked to call him and other hand holding her father's pants.
Stephen Carter looked down at his little girl, who looked like a twin to her mother, except for her eyes and shape of her hair, always the hair.
His daughter's eyes were round and he felt like he was peering into a mirror, innocent and naive version of himself.
They mirrored the sadness he obviously was reflecting in his eyes, but for different reasons.
As Stephen continued looking down his daughter while crying, she started crying too.
Everyone around the funeral was watching them with sympathy.
Ella was crying because her father was saying nothing just crying.
"Dad!" She hugged his pant and started sobbing.
Her sobbing voice was the only sound to be heard in the whole cemetery, other than the howling wind.
With shaking hands, Stephen pulled up Ella and hugged her.
Both the father and the daughter walked out the cemetery, clutching to each other, crying, amidst the wishpers and screaming winds.

"Hey Ella" Madison said.
"Hi Aunt Maddie" Little Ella smiled, a genuine smile after quite some time.
Her mother's brother and his wife were on a visit to her house.
"So, what are you doing?" Madison asked, crouching down in front of Ella, Lucas, Ella's uncle, has already disappeared somewhere.
It really didn't bother Ella that Lucas hasn't come to greet her and all, she is used to his behaviour.
He is a rude person anyway.
"Aren't you going to tell me?" Madison asks in a pretend-sad voice, just to get Ella's attention.
"I'm just writing a letter to Mom, she said when people stop meeting, they write letters to each other" Ella replied, continuing her scribbling on the red paper.
Madison immediately started whimpering after hearing Ella.
She got up and ran out of the room before Ella can see her face.
"Hey, where's Madison?" Lucas asks, without looking at Ella, his eyes are roaming all around.
"I don't know" Ella asked, her eyes downcast. She didn't want to talk to that person, she hated him and she didn't knew why, he had this bad vibe with him, you know.
"Really, you sure?" The tone in which he asked that was not the one you use with a child and Ella knew it all too well.
"What did you say to her, bitch? Why was she crying?" He shouted unexpectedly.
"Bad word, you used a bad word!" Ella started crying, Lucas was scaring her.
"Shut the fuck up, you bitch" Lucas put a hand on her mouth.
When Ella didn't cease her sobbing, he slapped her.
He. slapped. her.
That shut her up, of course.
"And don't you dare tell anyone" He told her in a scathing tone.
"No, no!" Ella was screaming and thrashing on the bed when Jason found her.
Jason had come up to see what was going on after he heard some screams and well, he found Ella.
It looked similar to the one she was having this morning but less...severe.
Surprisingly, he was the only one that her screams woke up. But logically, it made sense seeing that he had fallen asleep before anyone else in the house.
"Mommy, Mommy!!" She was sobbing.
"Ella, Ella! Wake up!!" Jason started shaking her.
Her eyes flew open at once.
She was frantic with her eratic breathing and wild eyes. Her messy hair were portraying nothing different too.
Jason was in front of me and his eyes were wide with concern.
I hugged him, on impulse or not, that I'm not too sure of.
"Thanks" My throat felt constricted but I somehow managed to choke it out.
I knew he was feeling awkward but I did not even try to pull away. I myself was feeling awkward but I had no plan to let go of him soon, at least...not till I forget the reminder of these memories aka nightmare I just had. I wonder why these nightmares came back though, it has been years since I had one of these. Usually I would take a pill if once in a while one of these nightmares would come out of blue. Oh! The pills...I forgot about them, may be that's why I am more attacks than usual, I'll have to do something about it.
I didn't realize I was lost in my own world until Jason subtlety let out a cough of interruption.
I loosened my hold on him and moved back, towards the headboard.
"Sorry" I mumble.
"It's okay" He smiles just a little, and I'm a little stunned.
I have never seen him smiling before and...it feels a little weird, to be honest.
Without my control, I start crying and hiccuping again.
"Hey, hey, it's okay" Jason gently wipes away the reminiscent tears from my eyes and I look up at him.
Unintentionally, I fall back into his arms.
"I just...I just miss her so much"
I don't think this chapter is good, at least the ending. :/
But I hope you guys like it and comment on it...COMMENT.
Btw, Happy Holi guys, I don't know how many of you know about it but it's an awesome festival.
Bbye, see you soon, babes.
And, btw, Ella is dreaming some of her memories from her early childhood, if it's not clear in some way. Eeep, bye!
