Niall and I went to find some firewood near the bushes for the campfire. It was dark and I could barely see anything. I was shooing away some mosquitoes that were flying above my head when I tripped over a rock and fell to the ground, injuring my leg.
“Ouch, damn it!” I cried, agonized. Blood was dripping out of a scratch caused by some sharp twigs. Niall heard my screaming and quickly came running back to me.
“What happened?” He asked as he squatted down next to me. “Oh my gosh. Your leg is gone!” said Niall dramatically surprised when he saw the cuts.
“Yeah, very funny Niall,” I said sarcastically.
“Here, let me carry you.” He chuckled.
”No, no it’s ok. I’m fine.”
“Don’t be such a baby. Your leg looks pretty bad,” he said as he checked on the wound on my leg.
“Ooucchh!” I cried louder when he accidently pressed on my bloody wound a little too hard.
“See? I told you baby girl!” Then he picked me up in her arm, carrying me bridal-style. My light brown eyes met his ocean blue eyes and I could’ve sworn he blushed as he quickly tore his eyes away.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Liam came out of the blue carrying some woods in his arms, frowning. “It seems like you’re not carrying firewood there,” said Liam sarcastically.
“Um, she‘s injured. She lost her leg!” And again he made that dramatic-surprise face.
“Hey!” I poked his chest as I giggled.
“Ok, fine. Whatever. Come on, let’s check on the others,” said Liam as he led the way. As I lay injured in Niall's arms, I looked up at his face and thought I was the luckiest person to be where I was. And it was still hard to believe that I was in Niall Horan's arms.
I was busy talking on my mobile phone to one of our workers at the bakery, facing the ocean that sparkled under the moonlight without realizing that Zayn was approaching me from behind. As I turned around, he was already right in front of me, face to face. I was surprised, speechless and numb I might say because I’d never been that close to him. So close I could almost feel his warm breath on my face. I tried hard to resist the urge to grab him and kiss him already. It’s just that his mouth looked so welcoming and warm and sweet. Then, I realized that I was staring at his lips so I quickly looked away again. The wind was blowing smoothly from behind and it made my long and wavy black hair blew all over my face. My heart melted like pieces of cheese on a hot pizza when he pushed my hair away from my face and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear romantically as he stared far into my hazel-nut’s eyes. It almost felt like I was having the sweetest dream that I wished I’d never wake up from.
“Thanks,” I said as my face started to color.
“No problem. Besides, you looked cute when your face was all covered with hair,” he replied as he managed a small smile.
“Oh, stop,” I looked down to my feet, not wanting him to see my blushing cheeks because that would be embarrassing.
“Aaaaahhhh!” cried Mia all of a sudden. All our heads turned abruptly toward her. And she had just officially ruined the romantic moment between me and Zayn.
“What happened?” asked Harry as he scurried over toward her.
“Look! There’s a big, cute and green turtle over there.” She pointed toward a turtle at the water’s edge. “I’ve never seen them before. I mean, for real.”
“Aww look how cute it is,” Harry responded.
Then he pulled Mia’s hand and rushed towards the turtle. Both of them were playing with the turtle like little kids playing with toys and that was ah-dorable.
“Look at its shiny brown eyes just like yours,” said Harry as he stared into her eyes. “What do you say we name it Marry? It’s the combination of our names!” exclaimed Harry as he smiled showing his dimples.
“Gosh, I love it! You’re so ‘genny’.”
“What’s that?” asked Harry, frowning.
“It’s the combination of genius and funny!” answered Mia. Then, they both threw their heads back and laugh. And from where I was standing, I could feel some chemistry going on between them.
I was eating a carrot, which I didn’t even know where it came from when suddenly my eyes caught a swing hanging by a tree. So, I started toward the swing hoping that my ‘Prince Charming’ would come. I held the carrot in my mouth as I had to jump a bit to get onto the swing and when I wanted to move it, my feet couldn’t reach the ground. But then the swing started moving slowly as if someone was pushing it from behind.
“Well maybe my ‘Prince Charming’ is really here,” I wondered out loud.
“Yes, indeed. It is your ‘Prince Charming’ here,” I heard a voice from behind interrupting my train of thoughts. As I turned my head, Louis was the ‘Prince Charming’ who’s moving the swing. “I like girls…who eats carrot,” whispered Louis to my ear. My cheeks started to color as red as the shirt Louis’ wearing.
All of us were spending time with each other except for Liam. He was the only Mr. Lonely, sitting on a rock as he stared ahead into nothingness, wondering alone if his ‘Cinderella’ would arrive soon. That night ended in a blink of an eye. I really wished that it would never end but it did.
