When a boy with snakebites, a beanie, and cookies knocks on your door… you open it. “Um… Hi. We kind of don’t know how to cook… at all… and made twelve times the cookies we originally wanted. We have around 700. Will you take some?” Asked the boy at the door. Carter smiled. “Um… Sure. If you want help cooking, I don’t eat much… but I know how to cook.” He looked at the floor. “Yeah. That would be nice.” “Oh. Uh. Why don’t you come in?” “Um, thanks.” A tall boy with dark blue flippy hair stepped in behind him, “It’s Jax. I was Jackson. But my mom liked that name. Then I was Jack. But my dad liked that. Now I’m Jax. Those asses hate it.” “Oh yeah. That’s my roommate. The one who also can’t cook. I’m Marky. I have no story for it,” said the snakebites boy. Carter blushed, “Uh, um, I’m Carter. My roommate and I just got here a few hours ago.” “A roommate? Is she as cute as you?” Jax smirked. Carter gave a sheepish shrug, “Um… cuter.” Wrapped in a towel, with dripping wet hair, Alice came out of the bathroom. She saw the absolute epitome of hotness standing in the doorway and rushed into her room to get dressed.
“Sorry about that. That’s Alice,” Carter blushed. Jax raised his eyebrows and slipped his hands into the pockets of his hoodie. "No offense, but she is definitely cuter than you," Jax smirked. Carter crossed her arms in front of her chest, "Why don't you guys come in. We aren't very unpacked yet, but we have cookies." She said gesturing to the plate Marky had brought over, smiling sheepishly. The three sat at the peninsula eating cookies and drinking warm tap water. The confident Jax sparked a conversation, "Have you girls ever been to the city before?" Carter was breaking off pieces of the cookie and eating them one by one, "Um... Well we went once for a choir trip in ninth grade, but that doesn't exactly count." Marky's eyes lit up, "You like music?" "Um, yeah." Carter shrugged. "Awesome. What type?" Marky asked, seemingly fascinated by the fact that other people could like music. "Here. Just look at my playlist." Carter slid her iPod across the peninsula to Marky. Their fingertips met and they both blushed, Marky staring at the floor, and Carter biting her lip. Jax had gotten up to explore the contents of the fridge. "Hey Carter, once you're done with the romantic shy stuff, could you go see what's taking Alice so long? I would kind of like to see her with some clothes on." "Oh. Um sorry. Sure." Carter slid off the stool and brushed the crumbs off her jeans. "I'll be back in a few minutes."
"Who is the super hot guy with the blue hair and how much did you pay him to be here?" Alice asked as she opened a new bottle of liquid eyeliner. "The one in the beanie is Marky and the one in the PTV shirt is Jax. They brought over some leftover cookies from a baking indecent and I invited them inside." "Are you sure you didn't pay them?" "Jax saw you half naked and called you cute. I think they're real." Carter smirked. Alice gave her a punch to the shoulder, "Hey!" Alice stepped out of the bathroom and made her way to the kitchen, closely followed by Carter. Jax gave Alice a once over, ran his fingers through his hair, and said, "I like you." Alice put her hand on her hip, "Good. I like you too and it would be pretty awkward if you didn't like me. Want to play some PS3?" "Do I?" Alice and Jax disappeared into Alice's room.
Carter sat down in Jax's old seat around the peninsula, next to Marky. "You have a really cool music taste." Marky said, giving Carter her iPod back. "Um. Thanks." "Er, uh, yeah." Marky glanced at his watch. "Oh shit. Sorry Carter. I have art class in ten minutes. I have to get going." "It's cool. Don't worry." "No it's not. I'll make it up to you sometime. I promise." He shook pinkies with Carter and stood up. "Come on Jax! We have to get going!" He called down the hall. Jax came out of the room with messed up hair and his belt was twisted weirdly. "Uh yep! Ready to go!" He said running out the door. "Bye" Marky said, giving Carter a quick kiss on the forehead. After the boys were gone, she collapsed onto her bed, lovestruck.
