Even as the battle raged, Landia stayed up in space.
"There's something familiar about the Starcutter's technique," said the leader.
"What do you mean?" asked another.
"I mean, it hints to me that it was enslaved. Perhaps if the beat Magolor, it'll help us."
Down below, Magolor tried every trick he knew--beams, vines, fire, and more. Kirby and his ever loyal friends fought back and dodged them, though a few close calls were in store. Before long, half of Magolor's life scale was gone.
Magolor howled and backed further way from the group. Then he unleashed a star whose wind could suck in even the biggest people and torture them. Kirby and friends ran away from the beam, but t hardly any avail. The wind was growing and gaining on them.
And then it disappeared. Magolor had used up all the star's energy.
"What the heck was that?" Waddle Dee asked.
"I don't know," said Kirby. "We can't let that stop us. I know we can make it. Launch your attacks! Give him everything you've got!"
Just then, Magolor threw a series of balls at them. All four of his enemies dodged them, and they plowed into the sizzling ground.
Suddenly, Magolor held out one of his hands and unleashed a giant beam. "Fly! Now!" Kirby instructed. Waddle Dee and Meta Knight made it out of the beam's way, but King Dedede didn't. The beam battered him and smashed him into the ground.
"Dedede! No!" Kirby shouted as the beam deactivated. Just then, Magolor stood over the now wounded bird.
Like hell... Kirby rushed at Magolor and, to his surprise, began to drive him back. Finally, Magolor staggered back...and a star-shaped shell engulfed his body. Kirby grimaced. He needed a better weapon. This sword could never penetrate it.
As if to answer his question, three stars appeared about a foot in the air. Out dropped three minions...and one had a Super Ability! Kirby flung his sword aside immediately and inhaled it. Then he tapped into the power and turned into a giant snowball! He used it to ram into Magolor, breaking one of the sides to shreds. Oh, crap... Magolor thought. He released wind from the remaining four sides, until Kirby rammed it again, taking a second side of the star.
Magolor advanced toward the center and released an all-consuming beam which shattered Kirby's power.
Just then, two more stars appeared in the air and dropped two minions. To Kirby's relief, one had a Super ability at hand. Kirby inhaled it, assuming the familiar super hammer. He gave it one slam, crushing one of Magolor's sides. Magolor, now with a two-sided star, released four twirling beams of fire before Kirby plowed his hammer into Magolor again. Furious, Magolor fired another beam ridding Kirby of his power.
Kirby wasn't even surprised when three more minions dropped out of the air. He inhaled them all and found himself with an enormous sword! He used it to slash Magolor swiftly, ridding him entirely of his star shell. Then he slammed his sword hard into an unshielded Magolor's side. With that, explosions spurted from Magolor's body and he exploded in a mass of lightning and sparks.
Kirby smiled. Now just to get--oh, crap! All went briefly dark as the Master Crown revived Magolor's soul and connected with it. Magolor's soul emerged and released a beam that shattered Kirby's third Super Ability. This form was ven creepier, with it's curved, enlargened hat, subsequent wings, and pale eyes.
"What the heck is this thing?" Waddle Dee exclaimed.
"I don't know, but we'd better get ahold of it before it kills us," Kirby replied with mild impatience. With that, Magolor's soul threw a few minions at them. Kirby ate one, giving him spark power--an electric whip. Not exactly the best weapon, but it would have to do.
Just then, Magolor opened another beam which the remaining three dodged.
"Go! Check on King Dedede!" Kirby shouted to Waddle Dee. "Meta Knight and I'll take him!"
Waddle Dee rushed over to King Dedede and felt his feathered arm. Good. His pulse was still strong. "King Dedede, are you OK?" he asked.
"Yes," Dedede said hoarsely. "I'll...be all right."
"Well, we'd better get over there. Do you think you can make it?"
"Just give me a minute," replied King Dedede.
"OK. I'll let Kirby--" Just then, they could hear Magolor's soul roar in pain behind them. "Half-life or master kill?" Waddle Dee called back.
"Half-life," Kirby replied, and fought on.
"I'll be down there if you need anything," said Waddle Dee, pointing with his spear to Magolor's soul, who was locked in deadly combat with the other two.
Magolor's soul released two swords, which swung once in both directions. After this failed, he turned into an electroball and tried to drive himself into Kirby and Meta Knight.
Both of them dodged, but Meta Knight didn't expect the second beam and slammed into the ground hard. He looked up, dazed, as Magolor prepared the final blow.
Magolor's soul cackled as he raised his sword. "So much...for teamwork!"
Just then, King Dedede came rushing in and slammed his hammer into he side of their quarry. Magolor was caught off-balance. Didn't this one go down? Before he knew it, pow! bam! whammo! and he felt his life scale go as black smoke spurted from his damaged form. Just then, fire engulfed his soul, which exploded. With that, the Master Crown shattered.
