2. A Visitor From Afar

Not too far away, there was a brighter, more lush area of Planet Popstar. It was known as Cookie Country. The woods were bustling and, until the Grand Doomer's invasion, it was full of friendly creatures. Kirby, a millennia-old hero, lived there.

Feeling rather lonely, he finally called his friends and asked them to play. Waddle Dee and King Dedede agreed, but Meta Knight was so plugged into his book he didn't answer the phone.

"What should we play?" asked Dedede when they arrived in the woods.

"I think our host should decide," said Waddle Dee.

"Well..." Kirby took a deep breath, waiting in thought...

"Watch it!" said Waddle Dee. "You nearly ate me!" Kirby's main power was abnormally strong inhaling, which he used to the fullest on the battlefield to suck in villains to another dimension! He had fought many battles during his long career.

"Sorry," said Kirby. I really need to get that under control, he thought, shaking his head. "How about we play tag?"

"No," said King Dedede. "I don't...well..."

"If you catch me, then you can have this slice of cake!" Kirby said, holding up a slice of strawberry shortcake on a plate. They had won it in the aftermath of their previous mission together. "You want it? Come and get it!"

Now he was motivated. King Dedede dashed after Kirby. Waddle Dee followed.

"I can catch him first!" he said.

The chase led them right past Meta Knight! Meta Knight looked up when he saw them pass by the rock he was sitting against. He still had the same book. "Hey! Guys! Sorry I couldn't play! I came here to find y--look up there!"

Kirby stopped dead in his tracks. King Dedede and Waddle Dee crashed into him. The cake fell out of Kirby's hand and splatted on the ground.

All four of them saw a brilliant array of light and color in the sky. Suddenly, out burst the blue-and-white Lor Starcutter, just as the Grand Doomer himself had predicted.

But a half-second later, the shining vessel started to break apart. At least 100 tiny gears flew off, followed by the mast, the wings, the oars...almost the whole thing. The cannonball had hit the ship. It started to smoke and headed toward the ground!

Kirby and his friends rushed toward it as it fell, but there was no stopping it. What was left of the ship crashed into the distance.
