The Slytherin common room
Next morning I was the last one to wake up in my dormitory. I had totally forgotten how comfortable these beds were I would switch it with mine at home anytime. Opening my trunk I got out some clothing to wear as it was Saturday, changed and left the dormitory. Harry and Ron were already waiting in the common room standing up, as soon as I arrived.
"I'm sorry, the beds are so comfortable and overslept. But you have not waited for too long have you?" I asked hopefully.
Ron gave me a look telling me exactly how long they have been waiting and it had obviously been too long. I tried to look apologetic but I was still too angry with Ron. Soon the trouble of the previous evening was forgiven and we joked around again on our way to the Great Hall. Everything was fine until Malfoy turned up and Ron threw me a nasty look.
"Granger, can I speak you for a second please?" Malfoy asked, looking at Ron he added. "On your own, without Ron and Harry? Don't worry about breakfast, I nicked something as I did not know the time, you would finally show up."
I looked at Ron and Harry both nodded and entered the Great Hall. Malfoy took my hand - once again - and pulled me along with him.
"Where are we going?" I wanted to know as we entered the dungeons.
He gave me a quick smile and quickly pushed me behind the armor next to us. At first I didnt understand but then I saw Snape walking around the corner.
"What is Ms. Granger doing down here with you Draco?" Snape asked. "You do know she does not have Potions right now? So there is no need for her to be down here."
"Yes sir, I know, I just wanted to scare her." Malfoy sneered. "All the girls - except the Slytherins of course - hate the dark and creepy dungeons don't they?"
"Draco, why are you hiding her behind the suit of armorthen? Or is the space between the armor and the wall especially frightening?" he asked ironically.
"Sir, that is a good question, in fact-" Malfoy started to explain but Peeves dropped a pencil case on Snape's head and caught his attention.
"We will talk about this another time." he warned Malfoy and hurried after Peeves.
"Close one." Malfoy whispered. "Snape doesn't want us to bring other students to our common room. Especially no muggle-borns or any non-Slytherin student, especially of course Harry Potter."
It was very surprising to hear the word muggle-born instead of Mudblood from Malfoy.
"Close one boy." a deep soft voice said.
"I thought it might have been you sir." Malfoy addressed the Bloody Baron who appeared right in front of us. "I am really thankful for your help sir."
"Young men like you deserve my help, as long as they respect me and call me sir." the Baron explained and smiled. "Especially, when they just want to spend time with their girlfriends."
Malfoy went bright red murmured something I could not understand and pulled me along. All of a sudden he walked away faster and insisted on ignoring the Baron for now. Unfortunately I was too fascinated by the environment to realize how Malfoy opened the entrance to his common room. He pushed me inside and with a last glance at the empty corridor outside made sure nobody saw us. He suddenly turned towards me gave me a small package, sat down on one of the sofas and asked me to sit down wherever I wanted to. I sat down opposite to him and started analyzing the package realizing it was the breakfast he had promised me. Carefully unpacking all of it I realised it was far more than I could eat.
"I haven't eaten eother and thought we might as well have a pick-nick." he admitted and turned slightly red again.
"Sure." I said slightly confused. "So why did you want to speak me?"
"I have good news." he mumbled swallowing the piece of bread he had in his mouth. "You can join our group. Everyone agreed. Pansy of course was the hardest to convince I think she is kind of jealous. After all she was the only girl in our group now she would not be special anymore. In fact you are the special one now just think about it! How many muggle-born Gryffindors do you know are part of a Slytherin group? Anyways this evening we will celebrate our new member. It would be good if you could be waiting at the staircase to the dungeons at about 10pm. By the way it's only you who is invited to this party so please do not bring along any guests thank you."
"Do you actually know that me joining your group will not really make us better friends?" I reminded him. "I won't suddenly run around with you, or I could not spy on Harry anymore ri-"
"Wait, you seriously thought I would make you spy on Harry? I only pretended to want information of you to calm the others down. Do you really think I want you to spy on them for us? Don't you remember me asking you to join us running around school and frightening others? Do you really think you would be still able to receive important information about Harry if you ran around with me? I just wanted to get to known to you better I just want to integrate you into my group. I want the Dark Lord to let you live." he explained and sounded slightly hurt.
I instantly regretted my accusations and as I looked him in his eyes I understood how honest he actually was. Instinctively I got up and sat down next to him.
"Do you really want to be friends with me?" I asked slowly not believing how close I voluntarily came towards him.
"I really do Hermione." he whispered the moment he wanted to add something someone entered the room.
"Well see you this evening Granger - 10pm at the staircase." he told me loudly enough to let the unwanted guest know I was there.
I understood right away stood up and walked past Crabbe and Goyle on my way out.
