After spending another few hours with Harry and Ron, I left for my dormitory, excited about opening the small, golden box, which was on my mind ever since I had received it. Arriving in the girls' dormitory, I got changed and completed my homework. I got the box out of my jacket pocket and stared at it. Still not having a clue what it was, I finally opened the box. The ring was the most beautiful piece of jewelry, I had ever layed my eyes on. It was made out of white gold and and contained a heart-shaped crystal. After admiring the ring for quite some time, I placed it upon my left indexfinger. I smiled to myself as I watched the light reflect in the crystal. Carefully, I reached out for the hand-written note inside the box and read it with great interest.
This ring only fulfills the purpose of showing all the boys out there that you belong to me. I sincerely hope, that you think of this diamond ring as well, as I do. Hundreds of years ago, one of my relatives made this ring himself, for his girlfriend which he could not marry, because she was a royal and he was not. There was nothing he could do, to change her fathers' mind, so they decided to run away together. Hopefully, our love will stay as strong, as it is now. Then we will be doing the same after school. That's a promise.
Lots of love,
"Nice ring, where did you get it?", Ginny asked, as she entered the room.
"Here, see." I whispered, tears of joy in my eyes, as I handed her the letter.
She read it carefully and looked up to me.
"That's just so romantic," she sighed, "I've heard of that ring before. It's worth a lot, because it was worn by a very powerful royal. She was the Queen of England, I believe."
"I am not interested in it's value.", I whispered, hurt.
"I didn't mean it that way Hermione!", she assured me and placed her hand upon my shoulder.
"It's ok," I replied, "I just get emotional whenever Draco does things like this."
"He's a real romantic," she agreed, "I would have never thought of him that way, if I wouldn't see him treat you like this."
I nodded in agreement, hugging her tightly. She stroke my back patiently, until the last tear vanished from my eyes. She wished me a wonderful nightrest and went to sleep, and so did I.
