19. The Pain.

"Anna! I've got Buttons! Come and get me!" I taunted Anna from the balcony with the doll shaped rag in my hand. Backing away through the door, I struggled to lock it with my mind racing and one thought in my mind-She'sgoingtokillmeshe'sgoingtokillshe'sgoingtokillme. It wasn't long before Anna was pounding and shrieking and kicking at the glass door, undecipherable words falling on my deaf ears. Feeling dizzy, I gasped in deep breaths, pressing a hand to my beating heart.

At least she was away from Billy and Ryder. It gave them time to-whatever. I hadn't really thought of what they would do once I distracted Anna. Hell, I didn't even know what would do once I distracted Anna. My first thought was to run out the current room I was in. So I headed out the door, managing to bump my hip into the bed post and trip a few times over the carpet and ram a shoulder into the door frame in my haste. "Crap." I tripped, yet again, in the hallway and fell square on my face, getting a not very pleasant mouthful of carpet. "Now is not the time to FUCKING trip Nirvana!" I shouted at myself, managing to get more and more panicky, raising my heartbeat in the process. This isn't good!

Picking myself up, I nearly overbalanced and fell again-but to my horror, a set of cold, bony, rotten smelling hands and sharp, pointy, yellowing nails started to dig themselves deep into my shoulders. Gagging, I was dragged backwards with an immense strength no normal human, dead or alive, could possess. I clawed and tried to heave myself forward, but to no avail. It was no hope. I was as good as dead. It was only then that I realised that the rag I picked up wasn't anywhere to be seen, and I hadn't heard the revving of a truck like I thought I would. That was the least of my worries. I had very angry dead chick with a curse and inhuman strength piercing her rotten fingernails into my shoulders.

"Anna, stop this RIGHT now. I'm being serious. Please, stop! Why are you doing this?" I was practically begging now. Twisting her hands around my throat, Anna raised me up like something out of The Lion King and threw me up in the air, only to catch me again, this time facing her tear-sodden, grime covered face.

"You were going to hurt my family. I couldn't have that. So Buttons was taken away and forced me to kill them. He promised me he would come back for me. He never. So it is time for you to have your turn." Screeching, Anna started to run with me, still clutching onto my neck like a child with a much wanted toy. I felt my back crash into the balcony door, finally realising Anna's intention. I allowed a tear or more dribble from my chin. It wasn't because of the pain of the fingers tightening around my neck, or even my back as it hit the stones down below. It wasn't even as pretty much all of my bones in my body broke like tender twigs, or the fact that I'd be hospitalised for the rest of my short lived life.

It was the fact that I had failed Anna, breaking my promise to her, and not putting her at piece because of a doll I had not managed to find. It was the fact I was to never be able to raise the family I ever wished for, ever since I was young. It was the fact I'd never get to see my best friends live, grow old, get married.

It was the thought that I was going to die. It was a fact that I was going to die.
