'Loosen up' he says. He doesn't even know a life of struggle. I thought quietly in my head as we headed towards the entrance of doom. It seemed like all eyes of disgust were on me once again.
"Good Morning, Mr.Johnson," A well figured woman that wore her uniform spotless stood behind the front counter with a flirtatious look in her eyes.
He just waved his hand at her as a response and continued to the elevator where I was stopped by a grim, elderly man that wore a uniform of a security guard.
"Do you have your pass?" The man asked. His breath was heavy, but he appeared healthy.
I could only stand there as I tried to explain why I didn't have a pass. That was until Park took my wrist and pulled me into the elevator.
"She's with me, Kale," Park, still holding onto my wrist, responded to the Kale's nod with a responding nod as the elevator doors closed.
We were alone and his warm hand holding onto my wrist made my body tingle with anxiety. I wondered why he was still clinging on to my wrist until I saw the smirk on his face. I harshly released my hand by myself and looked away from him.
"Is this some kind of game to you? Don't use me! I know my boundaries, you should be acquainted with them as well!" My anger flared and it seemed not to go anywhere with him.
I must seem amusing to him. I can only hope that he won't throw me out for my straightforwardness. This is my last chance to keep a job. I mumbled my apology and kept silent for the rest of the way up.
After reaching the top floor, we entered into the familiar room of his office after passing the glaring secretaries. He took a seat as I followed back into the same seat I sat in when I had been instantly hired.
"Your skills were abused at your previous job," He started, "I am going to give you my humblest offer to you as my employee,"
"What would that be?" I quietly listened as I had an issue for trust. I can only assume he's telling the truth if only he shows me that this hiring is not meant for his little game of me being poor.
"I glanced at your reports for Tera, good reports. Almost tops for a master degree in writing graduated from college," He spun in his chair as he was about to get to the most exciting part of the story, "But you are 19 with no real previous schooling background due to your fathers financial issues. So what I am about to offer you is a job of the same department, but on different levels,"
"What do you mean 'different levels'?" I leaned into the back of the chair comfortably as I listened.
"You will be working close to me as an assistant writer and secretary. You will be compensated for every minute you work for me, meaning your schedule must be free for only me under working conditions. If I call, you answer within 3 rings. Be properly dressed at all times and study all work policies under your department for future reference," He stopped his chair and leaned into his desk, "I'm sure this offer is more of dream to you than it is an order,"
Well, yes," I stood up in the chair properly, "No one nearly loses their home and instantly snags a job, might I add, in the same position, but also under the most successful man alive! I'd say I'm dreaming and I know any minute I am going wake up,"
"Then I would enjoy this as much as you can, Miss. Palmer," He smiled and handed me a handbook of work policies, "You'll find working here to be more like jumping into the hole to wonderland. It's a dream, but you'll find situations that won't be so easy. This is the world for you,"
"Thank you," It was all I could say towards an offer as good as that. I must have stepped on a four leaf clover because luck like this never happens to an ordinary, poor commoner girl like me.
