I wake up to a knocking sound and get out of bed to answer the door.
“One minute” I say. I look at a clock that is on the bedside table. I was only asleep for thirty minutes.
“I know you told me to stay in my room but I needed to check on you okay?” Lyle’s voice comes through the door in a desperate pleading voice. I open the door.
“It’s okay, what’s wrong?” I say responding in a sleepy voice. His face turns to relief. I look at the laptop in his hands. I gesture for him to come in he goes and sits on my bed.
“Well, it said girls with bright green eyes were getting stolen or murdered and I wanted to check on you” he says in a rushed voice.
“I’m pretty sure I can kick high enough” I say in a reassuring voice.
“But, the murders are pretty gruesome” he says in a panicked voice.
“Lyle, calm down ‘Kay?” I say. He nods. He looks at my bedside table.
“Why do you have a picture of Mr. Lakeston?” he says with curiosity.
“I think you have the wrong person that guy is my adopted brother” I say.
“You’re adopted?” Lyle says.
“Yup, but my mom hated me so much she sent me here” I say.
“No way, I can’t believe someone wouldn’t want my angelic sister what a horrible person I would’ve never let you out of my sight if I were you mother” he says with conviction.
“Ya, I know that” I say.
“I am so tired” he says.
“So what’s the murderer look like?” I ask in a questioning voice.
“The police won’t tell us yet” Lyle says like he doesn’t know why they haven’t specifically told him what he looks like and how much he weighs.
“Well I bet they will later, so I’m going back to sleep” I say with a sleepy voice and lie down. Lyle takes the queue, says bye, and leaves while I fall into a deep sleep.
