Between The Stage Lights.

Lyric is eighteen years old, just having graduated form high school and being accepted into the college of her dreams- life is pretty rockin'. Matthew is twenty one, an uprising singer/songwriter, who just happens to move into a community in Rode Island. One freak occurrence brings them together, but if the paparazzi need a new star crossed lovers story, and fans don't accept what they think is a budding relation ship, will whatever is between the two last?

10. Matthew.

I wake up to the sound of someone knocking on my door and groan. What the hell? Who is up at... oh, it's seven thirty.

"Just a minute!" I call downstairs. I think of Lyric and adjust to turbo speed and get ready. I pull on a baseball styled shirt and kept my sweats on. Hopefully Lyric won't mind.

I open the door and it's not Lyric. I sigh, it's a blonde wearing a crop top and high-waist shorts and way too much makeup. It's pretty yeah, but Lyric doesn't wear a lot and I think she looks better than this girl.

"Hi," she smiles, "I'm Summer."

"Uh, Matthew." I rub the back of my neck. Who is this girl?

"I'm friends with Lyric and I,"

"Oh you know Lyric?"  I cut her off, I smile and she blinks a few times.

"Yeah," she twirls a strand of hair around her finger. "Uh, so... I saw you yesterday and wanted to know if you wanted to hang out?"

"Oh, uh sorry but I was going to ask Lyric out to lunch today." I saw awkwardly.

She scrunches her face up at me and I notice she shivers when a breeze blows by.

"Uh, aren't you cold? You look like you're going to freeze." I tell her.

"Ugh, all men are the same!" She declares and marches off. I'm a little taken aback, what did I do? I asked if she was cold, that's all.

I watch her go inside Lyric's house and decide to call Lyric. I go inside and find the little sticky note she gave me last night, I dial her number then quickly hang up. That Summer girl may be there and I don't want her to hear me call.

I text Lyric instead: Hey, it's Matthew, your friend came over earlier and got mad when I asked if she was cold... weird... anyways, do you want to grab lunch with me? I've only been here for a while, so if you know of any good places that'd be awesome. :)

It takes me about a minute or two to type that out to the point where I'm happy with it. While I wait for her response I make a cup of coffee. How is it that I'm tired at seven o'clock? Or, now looking at the clock I see it's seven thirty five. Same thing it's too early to want to go back to bed.

I get a reply from Lyric: Yeah, Summer can be a little quirky. Sorry! If you give me five minutes I know of a good pizza place that has a good brunch if you'll drive? XD

I chuckle to myself and reply saying I'll be waiting for her. I quickly change my pants and clean up a little bit. In three minutes Lyric is knocking at my door.

"Hey," I say smiling.

"Hi! Are you ready?" She smiles at me.

"Yeah, always in the mood for pizza." I lead her over to the BMW car I got a while in California and open the door for her.

"Wow, such a gentleman." She teases.

"Anything for such a pretty lady." I wink at her. She blushes and gives me the biggest smile.

I start driving while she gives me directions to a hole-in-the wall old fashioned pizza parlor.
