I awoke in a room with only a bed and a few chairs. Tom must have dropped me off here.
Johnny, Ian, Benedict, Robert and Zac appeared in the room, followed by tom.
"You okay?" Robert asked.
I nodded. My thigh was all stitched up and bandaged. I still struggled breathing and one of my eyes felt more closed than the other, probably because it was swollen.
"You went through a tough time, kiddo," Benedict said, as he sat down next to me.
Tom came and said near me. "I know you were spying on me," he winked and laughed. "And I'm sorry for what happened."
"I'm sorry," I stuttered, placing my head carefully on the edge of the pillow and wiping a tear from my eye. They all surrounded me and sat down. "Listen, uh, you don't have to do anything you don't want to anymore. That was stupid thinking you could handle this," Johnny said.
"Handle what? It wasn't your fault, those guys weren't part of it, right?" I said, slowly.
"Look, Grace. The truth is..." Ian started. "Those guys were actually part of it. We knew they were going to steal Tom's car at that exact moment so we needed you to go with them so you could find out information. Tom was never a suspect, he works for us. But we never knew what they were capable of so... we are so sorry."
I sat up, held my leg and struggled with my next sentence. "You did that deliberately.."
"We didn't mean too," Robert said, placing a hand on my leg.
"Don't touch me," I snapped.
I wish I could've run out of that place, but I was in too much pain. They had done this to me, they knew what would happen. Everything that had happened in the duration of that month was their faults. I lay back down and tried to think.
They left me for a moment and I could hear them talking outside, saying they had no idea how I survived what had happened. They spoke about me a lot before appearing back. They decided I should leave and never work this way again.
"No. I thought, and you guys are right, you didn't know. I want to stay. I'll recover and stay," I said.
I saw them smile, even if they tried to hide it.
"Well then," Tom started. "Who's up for a little ass kickin?"
