I woke up the next morning, and decided to go see Stefan and Elena because I really needed the company, and I figured that they would be able to help me get my mind off of Tyler leaving. I got dressed, and headed to the lake house.
“Hey Stefan.” I said as Stefan answered the door.
“Hey Ryleigh, please come in.” Stefan said back as he let me in.
I walked inside and gave Elena a hug, since she was curled up in a chair reading a book; at least, I think that’s what it is.
“What’s that?” I asked while pointing toward the thing Elena was holding.
“It’s Jonathon Gilbert’s journal.” Elena replied and I just nodded.
I could tell that something was going on between the two, and then Stefan asked, “What does Jonathon Gilbert have to say?”
I’m still confused, but maybe if I just sit back and listen, then maybe I’ll get some answers.
“A lot. It’s insane the things he wrote in his journal.” Elena replied as she handed Stefan the journal.
Stefan opened the journal and I guess started to read some of it. I’m glad that I don’t have to read any of this because it would drive me crazy.
“That he kept from the founding families. Stuff that nobody knows. Stuff that… You never told me.” Elena continued as she looked at Stefan.
“We were, uh… We were angry at the founding families for what they did to Katherine. We wanted revenge. I didn’t know about Jonathon Gilbert’s ring yet. I didn’t know that he would… that he would survive.” Stefan said with a little uncertainty.
“He describes you as a monster.” Elena said back.
“That’s what I was. I want you to know the truth… But I want you to hear it from me. In the weeks after I became a vampire, I relished in it. I took it to the darkest place I could.” Stefan said as he looked between Elena and me.
“I wasn’t myself then. I was full of guilt. What I did to my father, to my brother. It was the only way I could survive.” Stefan said as he started to remember his past.
“It sounds like you were Damon.” Elena said.
“I was worse.” Stefan said with a frown.
“For weeks I kept spiraling. I was completely driven by the desire for blood. Hunt, prey, kill. That was all I knew.” Stefan said and that made my heart break.
“How come no one caught on to what you were doing?” Elena asked.
“Mmm. There was a war going on. The thing about wartime. Endless, anonymous blood supply.” Stefan replied.
Stefan then began to tell us the tale of how he met Lexi.
“Alexia Branson, as she was known back then.” Stefan said.
“Lexi? Your best friend Lexi? That’s how you met her? What was she even doing in Mystic Falls?” Elena asked question after question.
“She had heard it was a good place for vampires. You know, had no idea that they’d all been massacred. Needed a place to crash, so I brought her home with me.” Stefan replied and I knew that this was hurting him.
“Are you okay?” Elena asked.
“Talking about her brings up things that I’d rather forget.” Stefan replied.
“Like Damon killing her?” Elena asked.
I decided that I would head on home and let these two talk. I hugged them both and Stefan walked me out to my car.
“I heard about Tyler. How are you holding up?” Stefan asked.
“I’m okay I guess. It still hurts knowing that he just left, but I understand where he’s coming from.” I replied.
“Well, I’m here for you if you ever need to talk.” Stefan said as he hugged me.
“Thanks Stefan. I’m really glad to hear that.” I said back as I hugged him back as well.
I drove home and just did some cleaning. My house did need some more cleaning. I couldn’t believe that I’ve been decking out on cleaning my house. I also decided to make a list because I needed to pick up some groceries and some other things. As I was finishing my list, my phone rung.
“Yes, Jeremy.” I said as I answered my phone.
“Ryleigh, its Bonnie.” Jeremy said, and that was all he needed to say.
I hung up on him and ran to his house. Jeremy let me in and I ran straight to my cousin.
“What happened?” I asked as I held my cousin.
“Mr. Martin took her powers.” Jeremy replied because Bonnie was too hysteric to answer me.
“I’ll kill him.” I growled as I held Bonnie tighter.
I held Bonnie for I don’t know how long, and Jeremy had finally convinced me to go home. I didn’t want to leave Bonnie, but she told me that she would be okay. I didn’t really believe her, but she told me that she would call me if anything else happens. I went home, did my routine, and was heading to bed when I saw Katherine sitting by my window.
“What are you doing here?” I asked confused.
“I thought that we could catch up.” Katherine replied without missing a beat.
“That still doesn’t answer my question. The last time I checked, you were still in the tomb.” I said back with an attitude.
“They didn’t tell you, did they?” Katherine said with a smirk.
“Tell me what.” I replied with a frown.
Katherine went on to explain everything that happened from the time Damon came to see her in the tomb to someone staking Elijah, which led her to be released from the tomb.
“I can’t believe that they didn’t tell me anything.” I said with a sigh as I sat on my bed.
“I don’t normally say this, but I am sorry Ryleigh.” Katherine said as she sat next to me on my bed.
I just looked at her because I was extremely hurt. I shocked Katherine by hugging her. I really needed it and I guess Katherine noticed that because she hugged me back. I was glad that she told me and I’ll figure out everything else tomorrow. Katherine left after that and I decided to do some research on everything.
I guess we’ll see how tomorrow plays out, and I hope that everything works out for Bonnie because she doesn’t deserve what happened to her. If I cross paths with Martin, I will hurt him. I’m tired of people hurting the ones I love, and I plan on getting my revenge and it’ll be painful. I promise that.
