I woke up the next morning to my phone ringing. I saw that Jeremy was calling me, so I answered it.
“Yes Jer.” I said into the phone.
“Sorry to bother you, but is Elena with you?” Jeremy asked.
“No, she’s not here. I thought she went home.” I replied as I sat up, and shook Tyler awake.
“I don’t think she came home because her bed is still made up, and it doesn’t look like it’s been slept in.” Jeremy said back, and that’s when I started to get worried.
“She’s probably with Caroline, so I’ll see you at school, ok.” I said back before I hung up.
“Is everything ok?” Tyler asked as I sat back against my headboard.
“I don’t know. Jeremy said that Elena wasn’t at home, and thought that she was here. I told him that she wasn’t, but I thought she was with Caroline. I hope that she is because if not, then we have a problem.” I replied with a frown, but I hope that I’m not wrong because then we would have a bigger problem on our hands.
Tyler and I got ready for school, and let’s just say, I thought that Tyler was going to punch the guy that bumped into him, but I placed my hand on his arm, and that seemed to calm him down. I was pulled away from Tyler by Stefan, who called Damon, and we ended up outside talking. I told them that I could try and locate Elena, but Stefan refused because he didn’t want me to waste any energy. I was upset by that factor, and ended up with Bonnie, Jeremy, and Stefan, with Bonnie using a locator spell to find Elena.
“You wouldn’t let me do it, but you’ll get my cousin to do it.” I said with a little attitude.
“I’m sorry Ryleigh, but you can come with me.” Stefan said while trying to reason with me.
“Fine.” I said with a huff.
When we got somewhat of a location, Stefan and I, along with Damon, set out to find Elena. I was getting tired of this because we couldn’t enjoy one freaking event without it turning into a search party 24 hours later. The boys were talking about road-trip bonding, and I was trying to listen to music, but I couldn’t help but say something in reply to Damon saying that he could step out of helping as easily as he stepped in.
“You know that you won’t step out because I’m in the car, and you won’t leave me.” I said and that made Stefan’s smile grow, but Damon only smirked.
“You may be right, but if I did step out, then you would come with me.” Damon said back with a smirk.
I shut up after that and went back to my music. We finally came to a stop a few feet from the house, and I was told to stay in the car. I argued that I could handle myself, but Damon told me to stay in the car or he would drain me. I didn’t know if he was joking or not by the look in his eyes, but I finally caved and stayed in the car. I knew that I would miss all the action, but at least I would get my homework done. I was waiting by the car for, I couldn’t tell how long, before Elena, Stefan, and Damon came walking to the car. I ran to Elena and hugged her.
“Are you ok?” I asked once we pulled apart.
“I’m fine, and I’m glad to see you too.” Elena replied with a slight laugh at the end.
I laughed as well and hugged her again. Stefan dropped us off at Elena’s, and I was happy to say that it was an emotional reunion. I was glad that we found Elena alive, and I hope that whoever was after Elena doesn’t come looking for her, again, but I know that they will. Bonnie was staying as well, and we had a girls’ night, just like we used to, except, this time Jeremy was with us. He pretty much stayed by my side, but I think that’s because I went with Stefan and Damon. I told him that I stayed by the car, but he refuses to leave my side.
I guess this is goodnight because I’m going to enjoy my freedom while it lasts because I know that it won’t be long before everything is blown to hell.
