I woke up the next morning and noticed that my head was on Damon’s chest. He smiled down at me as I looked up at him. I rolled my eyes at him, and when I tried to get up, Damon tried my waist and pinned me beneath him.
“And what do I owe this?” I asked as I looked at Damon.
“I just felt like doing it.” Damon replied which made me giggle.
“Oh really?” I asked with a giggle.
Damon chuckled before lightly kissing my forehead.
I couldn’t help the giggle that left my lips. I keep sounding like a girl, but I can’t help it. Damon and I finally got up, and I couldn’t help but like this side of Damon. I’m glad that he only shows this side to me, and I hope he sticks around. After I took a shower, I followed Damon out of his room, and we came face to face with Stefan.
“Isobel just showed up at their doorstep.” Stefan said as we headed downstairs.
“What’s she doing here?” Damon asked, and I was thinking the same thing.
“I don’t know. That’s what I’m going to find out.” Stefan replied.
I couldn’t believe that Isobel showed back up. I mean come on, she knows good and well that she caused so much trouble last time she was in town, and now she wants to stir up more trouble. Before anyone could say anything else, Katherine joined us.
“I don’t think that you should tell her that I’m here.” Katherine said.
“What? Why?” Stefan asked.
“It’s better if she and John not know that I stayed in town after I got out of the tomb.” Katherine replied.
“You’re the one in cahoots with them. You made a deal with John that almost got me killed.” Damon said, and I was shocked because she didn’t tell me that.
“I did what I had to get out of the tomb. Now I’m reconsidering my alliance.” Katherine said.
“What do you know?” Stefan asked.
“I know that I want Klaus dead, which puts me squarely on team on you. Besides, if you two ever need me to swap places with Elena again, the less people know that I’m here, the better. Think about it, Stefan. Come on. Be smart.” Katherine replied.
“Tell you what. Why don’t you, uh… Call Alaric and let him know that his wife just showed up on his girlfriend’s doorstep.” Stefan said as he looked between me and Damon.
Damon, Katherine, and I just looked at each other. Damon and I were on our way to meet Jeremy and Bonnie at the Martin’s apartment.
“Why didn’t you guys tell me about your plan for Elijah?” I asked.
“We didn’t want you involved in case something went wrong.” Damon replied.
I was quite for a few moments before saying, “I’m glad that you guys want to protect me, but from now on, I want to know what’s going on.”
Damon chuckled before nodding his head. I was happy that now he would keep me in the loop. I’m tired of being left out. When we finally got to the Martin’s apartment, I hugged Bonnie, and then I gave Jeremy a hug. You would think that it would be awkward because we used to date, but we put everything behind us, and now we’re friends. I giggled as Damon checked to see if he could get into the apartment.
“Yep. Everybody’s dead.” Damon said as he stepped through the door.
“We should pack up the grimoires. They spent years collecting them. I wanna make sure they’re safe.” Bonnie said, and I agreed with her.
“You know, we could just get another match and cremate him.” Damon said which made me smack his arm.
“Don’t be disrespectful. Not to him.” Bonnie said, but smiled at me for smacking Damon.
“Fine. I’ll bury him.” Damon sighed.
“What exactly are we looking for?” Jeremy asked.
“According to Luka’s dad, one of these contains a spell that’ll let me harness the energy that’s left behind when a witch dies violently.” Bonnie replied.
I was really happy that Bonnie got her powers back. Now if everything goes the way we want it to, then we should be able to stop Klaus.
“I didn’t know you and father witch were so close.” Damon said, and I had to roll my eyes.
“We weren’t but when he gave me my powers back, he gave me a message. If I can find the spot in town, where the old Salem witches were burned, I can harness their energy to use when I need it.” Bonnie replied.
“Great. We’ll have to put that on our list of things to do today. Harness ancient dead-witch power.” Damon said.
“You know where the witches were burned?” Bonnie asked as she looked at Damon.
“Did I forget to mention that?” Damon asked which made me smile.
I knew that he was kidding around with Bonnie, and I hope that this turns into a friendship. I looked over at Jeremy to see him reading a grimoire.
“Are we gonna have to read through every one of these books till we find the right spell?” Jeremy asked.
“Not exactly.” Bonnie replied.
Bonnie looked at a bookcase, closed her eyes, and held out her hands. I was confused at first, but when a book fell off the bookcase and opened on the floor, I knew what she had done.
“It’s this one.” Bonnie said as she picked up the book.
“Great. Grab the rest. Let’s go.” Damon said.
We packed up the rest of the grimoires. I don’t have any idea where Bonnie and Jeremy went, but Damon and I went back to the Salvatore house.
“Do you really think that Isobel’s telling the truth that word’s gotten out about the doppelganger?” Elena asked.
“Look, I don’t trust a word that she says, but I think we’d be stupid to ignore the warning.” Stefan replied.
“I have to agree with Stefan. I don’t trust Isobel, but now a days, we can’t be too careful.” I said.
Stefan gave me a small smile, which I returned. Elena also gave me a small smile as well, and I returned it. I knew that Isobel might be telling the truth because if Klaus is coming after Elena, then everybody must know about her.
“You know, you should just stay here. It’s better for us to keep an eye on you. That means you too, Ryleigh.” Damon said as he looked between Elena and I.
“What, in a house that any vampire can enter? No. Her house is safer. Ryleigh’s house is safe for her as well.” Stefan said.
“Well, then we’ll stay there.” Damon said, and that made me roll my eyes.
Here we go again. The side of Damon that I hate is back. I knew that it was only a matter of time before this side came back.
“So is that the plan? Neither of you will let me out of your sight again?” Elena asked as she looked between Damon and Stefan.
“Let me know when you come up with a better one.” Damon replied.
“Fine. Then one of you 2 bodyguards is gonna have to come with me to the Lockwood luncheon.” Elena said.
I just rolled my eyes. We all knew who was going, and it wasn’t going to be Damon.
“That’d be me.” Stefan said.
See. My point was just proven.
“Not me. I have witch stuff to attend to with Bonnie and Ryleigh.” Damon said as he nudged my arm.
I gave him a small smile, and nodded my head in agreement.
“Does that mean that you’re taking her to the…” Elena started.
“Shh.” Damon said as Katherine joined us.
“Don’t get quiet on my account. If you have a plan to combat the impending vampire doom, please do tell.” Katherine said as she looked at us.
Nobody said a word, and we just shared a look with each other.
“Seriously, what is the plan to get us out of this mess, hmm? I delivered you a moonstone, a werewolf, and the dagger to lure and kill Klaus, and right now all you have is a moonstone. Or so you tell me.” Katherine continued.
“No, we have it.” Damon said.
“Where is it?” Katherine asked.
I knew right then and there that she was looking for it to give it to someone. I have a gut feeling that she’s in cahoots with Isobel, but I can’t prove it. Maybe she’ll screw up, and then I’ll bust her.
“It’s in a very safe place.” Damon replied.
“I’ve been honest with you. Time to return the favor.” Katherine said.
“Let me be honest with you. Don’t mistake the fact that we haven’t set you on fire in your sleep for trust.” Damon said.
“Fine. Be that way.” Katherine said before she left.
Elena and I looked at each other before giggling. We both knew that she was up to something, but we also knew that we could handle her. Stefan and Elena went to the Lockwood mansion, and I went with Damon to the site of where the witches were killed.
“Is this the spot Emily Bennett was killed, too?” Jeremy asked as we were walking up to an abandoned house.
“Founder thought it was poetic burning here where the other witches burned.” Damon replied.
I shuddered at that because I knew that this was going to be a little harder for me because it was Emily who helped Katherine save me when I was little.
“How do you know where the witches were burned?” Bonnie asked.
“‘Cause I tried to save her. Emily was just my key to getting Katherine back before I knew what a nasty little bitch Katherine was.” Damon replied.
I rolled my eyes because all I could do to keep myself from smacking him. It hurt to know that he was only using Emily. Jeremy laughed, but stopped when he saw the look I was giving him.
“You sure it’s the right place?” Jeremy asked as we approached the house.
Damon nodded and we entered the house. As we were walking around the house, Damon seemed to not be able to move.
“Whatever witchy prank you’re playing, don’t. It’s not funny.” Damon said as he looked at Bonnie.
“I’m not doing anything.” Bonnie said back.
Damon then looked at me.
“I’m not doing anything either.” I said to him.
“I can’t move.” Damon said.
I knew that it was the dead witches doing this to Damon, but I started to panic when Damon’s skin started to burn.
“Oh, my ring’s not working. Do something.” Damon said to me and Bonnie.
Bonnie and I closed our eyes, and before long, Damon could move again.
“I don’t think the witches like you being here.” Bonnie said, and I agreed.
“I guess this is the right place.” Jeremy said.
“I’m gonna go wait outside.” Damon said, and I decided to go with him.
Damon and I were only outside for a few minutes, when he decided to tell Jeremy and Bonnie to hurry up.
“Wanna hurry up in there?” Damon hollered into the house.
When Damon went to go into the house, the door shut in his face.
“Screw you too, Emily. You know, you’re all on your own in there.” Damon yelled through the door.
I couldn’t help but laugh. Damon just glared at me. I couldn’t help it, but it was funny. Damon was fixing to say something to me, when his phone rung. It was Elena, and she told Damon that he needed to come to the Lockwood mansion, and deal with John’s body. Damon and I headed to the Lockwood mansion.
“Hey. How is he?” Damon asked as we walked into the mansion.
“He’s dead.” Sheriff Forbes replied.
“He’ll be fine in a couple hours.” Damon replied as we saw that John had his ring.
“What are you talking about? Damon, he’s dead.” Carol said confused.
“Well… Here’s the thing. John’s ring, it’s an old Gilbert family heirloom that protects its owner from death by a supernatural entity.” Damon said, and when Carol looked at me, I nodded my head in agreement.
“But he’s not breathing. He has no pulse.” Carol said still confused.
“He will be. Trust me. We’re gonna need a cover story… epileptic fit, alcohol binge, banana peel, whatever works. But right now I just have to get him out of here.” Damon said as he grabbed John’s body.
I followed him to the Salvatore house. He dumped John on the floor and went to his room to change. I had to go there as well because my bag was in there. I grabbed a change of clothes, and decided to change in Damon’s room because there was blood on them from helping Damon with John. I figured that Damon would see me, but I knew that he would only see the back half. As I slipped my shirt over my head, Damon’s phone rung.
“Stefan? How’d I beat you and Elena home? What?” Damon asked.
I looked in the bathroom and saw Damon look into the soap bowl, before throwing it on the floor. I was confused, but then Damon told me that Isobel kidnapped Elena. I went with Damon and Stefan as we pulled up to what I guess was Isobel’s house. I was told to stay in the car, and I was pissed. I wasn’t in the car long before Stefan and Damon both came back out of the house. We finally found Elena in a cemetery. I didn’t understand why she was in the cemetery, but I knew that she would tell us in time.
“Is that Isobel’s?” Stefan asked as she was holding Isobel’s necklace.
“I never thought I would feel bad about her being dead, and yet…” Elena replied.
“She was your mother.” Stefan finished for her.
“Why did they let me go?” Elena asked.
Before I could answer her question because I knew the answer, Stefan replied, “Well, anything John told Isobel, we have to assume that Klaus knows, right? So he knows that you’re not gonna turn yourself into a vampire. He knows that you have us keeping you safe.”
“He knows that I’m not gonna run.” Elena added on.
“Which is why we need to take some precautions, ‘cause we got played, all of us.” Damon said before he placed papers on Elena’s legs.
“What’s this?” Elena asked confused, and she wasn’t the only one.
“It’s the deed to our house. It’s in Zach’s name. As soon as you sign it, it’ll be in your name.” Stefan replied.
“You’re giving me your house?” Elena asked.
“Isobel had the right idea with the safe house. You’ll just stay here till it’s all over. That way, you can control who gets invited and who doesn’t.” Stefan replied.
“Although I’ll be super pissed if you lock me out.” Damon said, and I couldn’t help but giggle.
John woke up and Damon went after him. I was shocked and so was Elena.
“I swear I had no idea what she was gonna do. I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.” John said as he looked over to Elena.
“Damon, let him go. He and I need to talk.” Elena said.
Stefan, Damon, and I went into the library. I was like the others for not trusting John, but he is the only parent that Elena has left. I hope that she doesn’t regret this.
“Hey, Bonnie said the spell worked. She’s locked and loaded.” Damon told us, and I wasn’t sure how I felt about that.
“At something went right today. Katherine has no idea that Bonnie got her powers back and Isobel had no idea what you and Jeremy took Bonnie to do today. We’re the only ones who know.” Stefan said back referring to Damon and myself.
“That literally makes Bonnie our secret weapon.” Damon said.
Damon and Stefan clinked their glasses together. I just stood off to the side and couldn’t help but wonder what happened to Katherine. I know that nobody trusts Katherine, but I can’t help but hope that she’s ok and alive. I headed on up to Damon’s room to get my bag because I needed to go home.
When I got to Damon’s room, I grabbed my bag, and when I turned around, Damon was standing in the doorway.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Damon asked.
“I need to go home because I need some more clothes.” I replied.
“You can always wear mine.” Damon said with a smirk.
“Are you insinuating something?” I asked with a smirk of my own.
Damon didn’t reply, but he pushed me into the wall, which made me drop my bag, and kissed me. I kissed him back, and you guys know where that ended up leading to. We did close the door, but I honestly think that Stefan and Elena heard us. *Wink. Wink*
