"Wow, isn't he cute?" my best friend said, pointing not too subtly at the group of guys walking in. Alexis and I sat at the small circular table in the corner of our favorite local coffee shop.
I sipped at my cappuccino and watched 3 guys walk into the shop and up to the counter. "Which one?"
"All of them!" she said a little too loud. Luckily non of them heard her. "I wonder why we've never seen them before. We should talk to them."
I laughed and brought my cup to my lips again. "I'm okay, thanks though."
"Come on!" she wined, "I know you think they're cute!"
This time we weren't as lucky. Alexis has been always been known for her overpowering voice and at times like these, I was the least bit excepting of it. All 3 guys and a few other people's heads turned in our direction. Alexis, being her usual self just smiled innocently at the boys and waved. I however chose to keep my head down.
"They're coming over here," she barely whispered with so much excitement in her voice it was like she just bought a new puppy. I regrettably looked up at the 3 guys headed our way and saw they were all smiling at Alexis, except for one. He was the tallest on, about 6' 4" I'd say, his short blonde hair slightly spiked up at his forehead and his perfect blue eyes stared into my brown ones. I could feel my cheeks turn pink as I quickly looked down at my cup again.
"Hello ladies," said, what looked like, the leader of them all. He was tiny, about 5' 8" maybe, curly dark hair, dark eyes, and the widest smile.
"Hi," Alexis squealed. "I'm Alexis Schmidt and this is Lily Dawson." I smiled the most uninterested smile I could and sipped at my coffee. Alexis kicked my under the table. The tall one was still staring at me.
"Very nice to meet you, I'm Chad Hemilgarden," he said and pointed to himself. "This is Ben Miller." He pointed to the other guy. Ben looked about 6' 2". He was extremely skinny and had long brown hair that came up into a quiff. "And this here, is Nate Homan." Nate was really good at staring. I'm pretty sure he hadn't taken his eyes off of me this entire time. His soft lips curved into smirk that I have to admit was pretty adorable.
I continued to have a staring contest with Nate while the others talked. "Why haven't we seen you guys before? A town as small as this everybody knows everybody."
"We actually live in a town about 20 minutes away from here but we're all moving here," Chad told us. "All three of our mothers found these three beach houses right next to each other down here and made the decision to move at the same time to the same place, said it's a new change of scenery, I don't understand it. We decided to come down here tonight and check everything out."
"Well what are your plans for tonight?" Alexis suddenly asked. I was pulled away from my staring a moment to look at her like she was insane.
"Well there's a party we heard about down at the beach, close to where we're all moving," Ben said. He had a deep voice that kind of startled me a bit.
"Would you two like to come?" Chad asked.
"We would love to, wouldn't we Lily?" Alexis asked and continued before I could answer. "We've got another friend we could bring if you would like. Her names Jasmine. If I could just get your number, Chad, we would love to join you guys, if that's all right with you?"
Chad smirked. "Sounds perfect." Alexis, Chad, and Ben all started making arrangements for tonight while Nate and I had our own staring competition. I tried to give him the most unimpressed look I could but the way his lips curved up in the sweetest way and his eyes looked right I mine, I couldn't help but smile.
"Great!" Alexis exclaimed, "See you at 8." I had no idea what was happening and I really wanted to smack her but I waited until they walked out the doors to do it.
"Ow!" she yelled. "Don't do that, I just got you a date, you should be bowing to me."
"Yes thank you so much for forcing me into something with a guy who just creepily stared at me the entire time we were talking. I don't even know what he sounds like!"
"Well neither does he! You didn't say a word either and don't give me that 'creepy' bullshit, I saw the way you were staring at him, you like him."
"I do not!"
She laughed. "Oh yeah? Then why are your cheeks redder than a tomato over here? Huh?"
I punched her. I did not like this guy and I was not going to that party.
