After my small chat with Taylor, I return to skimming through the tabloids. I get why people buy these things; they are kind of addicting.
Megan Fox is pregnant? Why couldn’t they put that as their cover story instead? This is obviously more interesting.
Someone then came to stand over my desk. I looked up, then looked back down to continue reading the tabloids.
“I’m supposed to stay away from you, apparently.” I exposed.
“That won’t be anything new for you.” Louis replied, giving me a slight smirk.
I know, it’s the you staying away from me part that I did not figure out yet.
I decided to go against saying that aloud.
“So I guess you saw.” He stated while leaning against my desk.
I just decided that it was best if I just ignored him.
“So, you’re just going to ignore me?” He continued.
Again, I ignored him. He’ll get the picture sometime soon.
He just scoffed and then walked away.
When his footsteps faded, I looked up and sighed heavily.
I know it’s technically not his fault. I can imagine how stressful and annoying it must be for him; for his every move to be watched, documented, then judged by people who barely know him. Not that I pity him. He knew what he was getting himself into when he started his career.
I, however, did not wish or want this. I know I have the simple choice of staying away from him, but it is the him staying away from me part that I am currently worried about.
While on my way out for lunch, I encountered Liam.
He gave me an “Hi’ and a smile.
Technically, I should be staying away from all of them, but Liam is such a nice guy. I just did want to ignore him, when he obviously did not do anything wrong.
“Hi.” I replied as I stood in front of him.
“How are you?” He asked.
Was he asking this as a regular greeting question or as a “How do you feel about the incident?” way?
I decided to take it as the former. “I am good, I guess. Just going out to get lunch” I replied.
“Ah, you might not want to do that, or you might just want to be a bit more disguised.” He suggest.
Really? Now I can’t go out to get lunch because of this stupid incident.
“I doubt anyone will actually recognize me.” I rebutted.
It’s true. I’m not a celebrity. I am just a rumor that will vanish hopefully soon.
“Do you really want to take your chances?” He asked humorously.
“Are they going to mob me or something?” I asked as a joke.
“Maybe. Have you seen Twitter?” He replied.
I shook my head. Should I have? Taylor mentioned something about her Twitter blowing up but I didn’t explain how.
“Wait, do you have a twitter account?” He asked after a moment.
I shook my head slowly.
He suddenly got a surprised look on his face.
Is having a twitter account a suddenly necessity to living?
“Instagram?” He continued.
“No…” I replied.
“Facebook?” He pressed.
“Nope.” I said.
He stared at me incredulously, then asked, “Myspace?”
Seriously? Even I know that now one uses Myspace in 2014. Did he think that I was that far a loser?
I raised an eyebrow at him, then shook my head slowly.
“Do you even know what those are?” He inquired.
I smiled. “I am a Computer Scientist.” That should answer his question.
“Right.” He replied. “Well, why don’t you use them?”
“I honestly never found good use for them before, or ever.” I responded while crossing my arms.
“How do you contact people? Or people contact you?” He honestly asked.
Was he serious? Does not using twitter and those other stupid sites put you into caveman status?
“There is this device, called a phone. You can dial other people phones with it and then actually hear their voice through this thing called a speaker.” I replied jokingly.
He smiled and said, “Never heard of it.”
I laughed. “You should try it. It is really useful.” I continued while taking out my phone from my pocket to show him.
He unexpectantly took the phone from my hand to look at him.
“If I happen to get one of these thing, can you tell me how to contact you?” He responded.
He is smooth. That’s a clever way to ask for a number.
“When you do get one, then you can ask me again.” I stated while talking my phone from his hand and walking away.
