"Let's play a game!" Ashton says.
I groan, not really in the mood. I hope it's not truth or dare.
"How about we have a jam session?" Calum smirks at my reaction.
"Oh, it's on Hood." I say.
I run to the microphone, next to the piano. I really liked the set up of the stage. I knew the acoustics were good because the arena was so big. I could just imagine this place filled to the brim with people, cheering us on. Calum grabs his guitar and plays a few chords, getting everything into place. Ashton skips happily over to the drums, as I turn on the piano.
"What song?" I ask them.
"How about.....Heart Skips a Beat?" Calum suggests.
I raise my eyebrows at him with a smirk on my face.
"Okay, I like him. No judging!" He says, throwing his head back.
I laugh, holding my hands up in surrender.
"That sounds good to me." I start the piano and we are all singing, and laughing.
We all were just jamming out and having fun with the song. We would try to sing different notes and play different chords. I honestly thought we sounded pretty good.
"So put another record on, kiss and lead me on, nothing really matters when we're dancing, listen to the same sad song playing on repeat, 'cause every time we come this close, my heart skips, skips a beat." We all sing the last verse, laughing our heads off as Ashton finishes the song in a chipmunk voice.
"That was awesome!" I say, laughing.
"It was. You have a great voice." A voice says from the doorway.
My cheeks instantly heat as I see Luke standing at the side of the stage, smirking. I guess I was so busy, I didn't notice him sneak in.
I try to hide my embarrassment with a witty comment,"Thanks Luke. You better watch out though. I might steal your spot as the lead singer."
He laughs at that, shaking his head. "Not going to happen."
I giggle and look at the rest of the boys. "Really? What do you guys think?"
"I say we make Luke be the backup singer." Mikey grins and I laugh with him.
Luke shakes his head and holds his hand out to me. "Ready to go?"
I nod at him, trying to calm down my heart beat. My nerves are already coming back to me. My best friends' voice rings through my head. What could go wrong? A whole lot. I stand up trying to not shake and fall to the floor.
Soon enough, I am standing next to Luke as he slides his hand into mine, relieving some of the tension. We both wave goodbye to Calum and Ashton as we start walking away. I try to block out my pessimistic thoughts and focus on where he's leading me. After a series of hallways, we finally push open a door that leads into a huge room where the buses are stored. A black range rover is waiting for us, with the garage door already open.
Luke fishes some keys out of his back pocket and unlocks the car. He opened the passengers door for me, before jogging back over to the drivers side, getting in. I hop in after him and shut my door behind me.
Cool air instantly blasts my face as Luke starts up the car. He gives me a grin as we drive out of the area parking garage. I wonder if he's as nervous as I am.
"Do you want to listen to some music?" He asks me.
"Yeah, that would be great." I give him a small smile.
He turns on the radio and starts spinning the dial, looking for something good. When a familiar tune starts playing, I yell at him to stop. When Luke turns it up its, of course, She Looks So Perfect. I start to hum along to the song as he just smirks at me and shakes his head.
Luke suddenly laughs,"Do you know all the lyrics?"
I stick out my tongue at him and roll my eyes.
"I know all the lyrics to most of your songs, you're my favorite band, remember?" I point out with a grin.
He suddenly frowns a bit before shaking it off,"Oh, yeah. I guess I forgot about how I met you for a moment."
Was it just me, or did he seem a little sad? I bit my lip as I stared at his face, waiting for some kind of reaction. But, his face just stayed the same as we listened to the rest of the song. Weird...
We suddenly pull into a driveway of a restaurant called 'The Arcade'. It looks like a nice place with hipsters out in the front, but as we exit the car, people recognize him. He gives everyone little smiles as he pulls me into him, hiding my face. We walk quickly into the dimly lighted restaurant, right up to the front desk.
When the waitress sees Luke, her green eyes grow wide and her glossed lips curve upwards. She waves her hand through her firey red hair, sending him a subtle wink. Luke pays her no attention, but it still pisses me off a bit.
She looks at him up and down before saying,"Table for one?"
"Two actually." I piped up, glaring at her.
Didn't she see that he was obviously taken? I mean, he was hugging me for Christ's sake. She just frowned at me and grabbed another menu, leading us to the back without a word.
Luke lets me go, only to take my hand. I try to hide my smile as he pulls out my chair for me. Still a gentlemen, like always. He sits down at the other side the table, never taking his eyes off me.
"Here's the menu." The waitress flirts openly with Luke, but he brushes it off, only acknowledging her when he orders two cokes.
I glare at her firey red head as she disappears in the back. I didn't know if I could take her stupid flirting much longer. Good thing Luke wasn't into it, or I would have left as soon as we walked through the door.
"So, Emma, what's your favorite thing to do?" He asks me, with that famous smile of his.
I have to snap myself out of my raging mode before I could answer, "Um... I like to write songs."
"Really? I want to hear that sometime."
I nodded at him, knowing there was no way I was going to show him. It would be way too embarrassing.
"What about you?" I question him,"What else do you do?"
He gives me a dubious look,"You mean besides singing?"
"Yeah. Hobbies?" I ask him grinning.
I really wanted to know what he couldn't do for a change, but I figured it would be too rude to ask.
"I don't know...I like to party. Does that count?" Luke chuckles.
I think for a moment, before shrugging,"I guess? I've never really partied."
His eyes widen at my answer as he shakes his head. You would have thought, by his reaction, that I said I didn't drink water instead of partying.
"Are you hungry?" He quickly asks.
"Not really." I say. "You?"
He shrugs. "No. Let's blow this joint."
We grin at each other as he leaves a twenty on the table. What a showoff. I laugh as he takes my hand and starts running to the car. We both hop in, a little out of breath from the "exercise". Luke starts the car, and we're off again.
He drives us to this little club called "Nightlock". It sounded more like a berry than a night club to me. Even from the parking lot, I could feel the bass pumping. Luke parks the car after a couple of minutes. We hold each others hand as we walk up to the line outside of the club. I couldn't believe he was actually taking me to a dace club. Were we even old enough to get in?
Instead of waiting in line, he pulls me up to the front with him, ignoring all the groans and yelling from the other people waiting. Luke tells the bouncer his name and in about 30 seconds, we were in. We weave through the string of grinding bodies, to the bar.
"I can't drink." I quickly tell him.
He just laughs and shakes his head,"Neither can I."
Luke orders a water, and offers it to me. I shake my head as he chugs it. I can't help but smile as I look around the club. He leads me into the center of the dance floor and starts dancing ridiculously. We get a few weird glances from people, but we didn't really care. I shake my head laughing as he does his version of the wave.
"Dance with me!" He says, having to shout so I can actually hear him.
I shake my head quickly, yelling,"I can't dance."
"Neither can I."
Luke grabs my hand as 'Hey You Beautiful' comes on and we start to dance ridiculously. He puts one hand on my hip and his other hand on my face and pulls me in for a kiss gently.
"Will you be my girlfriend Emma?" Luke asks me, whispering.
I was surprised I could hear him, even though the music is pounding. I just nod, too shocked to say anything. He grins down at me and leans in for another kiss.
God, I think I'm in love with him…
