Caitlyn (A Niall Horan Fan Fiction)

It was too bright, I couldn’t open my eyes. Or better, the light was too bright. It meant, I wasn’t dead. Again. - Caitlyn Harris

7. Chapter 7

My heart stopped.

“I’ll give you the address, it’s 1, Queen’s Road. I’ll be waiting in front of the entrance.”

“Y-Yeah.” I stuttered.

The rest of lads came in.

“Mate you’re okay?” What did she say?” Zayn asked.

“The-They found a bo-body.” I couldn’t pronounce it fluently; it was just too much for me.

“The woman gave me the address of the mortuary, she told me she’ll be waiting.”

“Better don’t waste time; we have to get in there. See ya in the car in a few minutes.”

I nodded.

I put on a T-Shirt and the first pair of jeans I found in my closet. My hair was a huge mess but I didn’t care.

I brushed my teeth, put on my Vans and went to the car. I sat in the middle, with Harry on my left and Liam on my right, who had Zayn in front of him while Louis was driving.

“What’s the address?” Louis asked.

“It’s 1, Queen’s Road.” I replied.

“Not very far, but it can take a half an hour.”

The journey was silent; nobody was in the mood for talking. Usually we would tell each other jokes, laugh and sing together. But at that time nobody would dare think about it. Yes, One Direction can be serious as well.

Even though we drove about thirty minutes, it seemed like eternity.

From one side, I wanted to get in there and see whose body has been found. See that maybe it wasn’t Caitlyn’s body which has been found.

But from the other side, I wished I weren’t even in the car.

What if I got off the car, went inside the mortuary to found the police officer, whose facial expression definitely brought bad news.

What if at this moment she took me to a room where I would see Caitlyn lying on a bed, not breathing.

What if I burst in tears while looking at her pale, dead face what wouldn’t even help because one way or another it was too late.

What if.

“Are you coming?” Liam’s voice ended my thoughts.

“Yeah.” I whispered to myself.

I wanted to go in.

And I didn’t want to go in.

But I had to go in.

Even though I didn’t want to go in.

“Mr. Horan?” The policewoman said.

“Here.” I raised my hand again.

“Follow me.”

My heart never beat so fast. I thought it would just jump out of my chest. I bit my lips from worry.

“Here is she.” The woman said, leaving me alone.

I closed my eyes before entering to the room. I stopped for a moment. I wasn’t ready for this, or better my heart wasn’t ready. Everything could have been waiting for me.

Caitlyn or another girl’s body, that I didn’t even know.

I took a deep breath and opened my eyes.

I pushed the door to see an unknown for me girl lying on a bed. I couldn’t see her eyes so I didn’t know if they were blue, but she had brown her, wasn’t very tall and was very slender.

I didn’t know how to act. I was happy that it wasn’t Caitlyn. It meant she was still alive.

Or that the police haven’t found her yet.

Stop thinking this way Niall, just stop.

But seeing a dead girl made my heart melt. Even if I didn’t know her, tears filled my eyes. She got kidnapped as well God knows by who and had all the life in front of her.

Why do people die so young and don’t have chance in their life?

I left the room and went to the reception where the boys and the police officer were waiting for me.

When they saw me sad, they gave me a confused look but didn’t say anything. They would understand what happened if I was crying, but I wasn’t.

“It’s not her.” I sighed.

The police officer nodded.

“I’m gonna go back to the office, I still have a lot of work. Don’t hesitate to call me if something happens.” She said, waving and getting into her car.

The boys and I did the same, without saying a word.

“If it wasn’t her,” Harry broke the silence. “Why did you have such a sad and disappointed look?”

At the beginning I thought it was a really stupid question. But then, he didn’t even see what I did. He couldn’t feel what I felt, it was indescribable.

“That girl who lied there,” I started. I felt like telling a small child somebody went away, not to be forced to have to say that he died. “She was so young, she had all the life in front of her and it’s, it’s just so unfair. Life is so unfair.”

The rest of the journey was silent, again.

As we arrived to my house, I was happy that the lads didn’t leave me alone. They came with me, they knew I needed someone.

I went to the kitchen and took out a glass of the shelf and poured some water into it.

I looked out of the window.

Where was she? What if she was being hurt now, crying and begging her father to stop?

I felt a tear flowing down my cheek. I missed Caitlyn, and it killed me that I couldn’t do anything to help her. I was weak.

Suddenly I heard my phone buzzing.

I looked at the caller ID.

Unknown number.

I hated when this happened, but I just took it and answered.

“Hello?” I said.

“You thought, didn’t you? You thought it would be her!” A man voice said, laughing at the end and hanging up.

But there were three more things which made me shiver.

First of all, it was Caitlyn’s father. I just knew it.

Second of all, I heard a girl sobbing in the background, and I was pretty sure it was her.

And third of all, that meant he kidnapped, abused and killed another girl just to scare me.

That’s when all the bad thoughts of her, lying on bed and losing her future which could be wonderful, came back in my head.

Life is just so awful unfair.
