1. Chapter 1

Tonight was the night of the ball, the very ball that Rider had been going on about for what felt like forever. This ball was Riders chance to get more people interested in his business and being his girlfriend I had to go to. I didn't want to at all. Who would want to go to a ball where there will no one you know except your boyfriend who will be off doing business and probably chatting up some random girls he thinks are hot. Why am I with him if he cheats on me? Because I have to be. My mum and dad were in a lot of debt and the only way to get out of that debt was for there daughter, me, to marry a rich guy with a rich family, so me and Rider are engaged. Yeah I know it does sound like one of those fairy tales. expect mine isn't the happy ever after everyone think its going to be. Not only does Rider cheat on me but he abuses me to. He hits me and he rapes me. There is nothing I can do though, I'm doing this for my family and I suppose I am in love with Rider. He is not all bad I guess. We have had some good times over the years. But anyway, the ball. Rider had a dress specially made for me to wear today. Its a long gold strapless dress with gold flowers spread around the skirt. I tied my hair up into lose plait bun sort of thing, my make up was natural because Rider hates it when I put to much on. Slipping on my black stilettos, to give me more height because I'm so small, I walked out of the bedroom I have to share with Rider to go find him. He was on the phone in the living room to his newest girl, what was her name? Savanah? Yeah I think that's what he had called her when she came over last night to do the dirty. Yeah that's right he brings back girls to have sex while I'm in the same house. That's the kind of guy he is, I just have to live with it. He looked up to see me standing in the doorway ready to go, he nodded before ending the phone call and standing up from his seat on the sofa.

"Ready Kerry-Anne?" I nodded in reply "Are you ready Kerry-Anne?" He had a thing about me replying to him through words.

"Yes Rider, I am ready."

"Good girl." He said taking my hand in his and leading me out of the house and into the limo he demands drives him everywhere. I'm telling you he is such a spoilt brat. The car ride to the venue was completely silent. I had learnt not to speak much, because it caused argument's, and just get on with it, plus I didn't really want to speak anyway. Especially not to Rider. He didn't deserve me speaking to him even if he did care. Once we had finally got the venue after what felt like forever we both got out of the car and made our way inside the modern building. The massive room was crowded with people all dressed to impress with the finest gowns and suits I had ever seen. Violin music was heard amongst everyone talking making the whole thing rather cheesy. Rider grabbed hold of my wrist and began tugging at it to make me move forward from where I had stopped to admire my surroundings. His grip was so tight that I knew a mark would be left there after.

"You're hurting me" I whined quietly so only Rider could hear, meaning he wouldn't cause a scene about me drawing attention to us when he would do the exact same thing...

"Shut up" He replied to me, giving me a look that when I first met him sent fear straight through me, I suppose it still did but I got used to it. He gave my arm one last hard tug before dropping my wrist. As he began making a convocation with a nearby middle aged couple I continued admiring my surroundings. Suddenly a forceful clasp on my shoulder awaked me from my daydream. "Can you at least try to look like you're enjoying yourself? You look like you're at a funeral." I looked away feeling rather annoyed, I didn't even want to be here. Rider grabbed my face in his tightly gripped hand, making me face him. "Hey, look at me when I'm talking to you!" His face centimetres from mine. Not being able to take anymore of this, I walked away towards the nearest bathroom. Leaning over the glamorous sink, my hands resting on the side of it, I sighed to myself.

"What am I doing with my life?" I bit my lip, trying to stop myself from crying. "You're stronger than this Kerry-Anne, don't let him win!" One last look in the mirror and I decided to go back to Rider. Not to my surprise, he was chatting up some random girl, like always. "Oh so you're not working the street corner tonight I see?" That and my glare towards her, made her back away in part disgust and part Anger.

"I'm so sorry..." Rider said to her, then turned to me. I knew I was in for it now but to be honest I didn't care, I was 110% done with him. "What the hell is wrong with you!" He said as he dragged me outside of the building. Some random guy was looking through a massive window, I didn't take much notice but he looked a bit dangerous, a different dangerous than Rider but dangerous none the less. "How dare you disrespect me like that? Who do you think you are? Who do you think you're talking to?" I wasn't really paying attention to what he was saying, I went though this everyday but what happened next I wasn't expecting...
