11. Just Tell Me

"Hi, Mrs Robinson. Can I come in?" Asked Octavia. "Yes of course, come on in Octavia." Carolyn said, letting her in and closing the door. "Is Ruby home yet?" She asked. "No, she's at her boyfriends house until 6. Why?" Carolyn asked. "I've contacted her father, he wants to meet her in 2 weeks." Octavia said, handing Carolyn a letter from her ex-husband. "Two weeks! Where at, what time?" Carolyn asked, feeling happy for Ruby but bad at the same time because she couldn't forgive Michael. "He's over from South Africa visiting family, he wants to meet her at a small coffee spot in Wrotham town on a Saturday at about half 12." Octavia explained. "That's amazing, Octavia. Thank you very much for your help." Carolyn said. Suddenly the front door opened. "Mum! I'm home!" Ruby yelled, Carolyn trying to hide the letter to keep the secret quiet. "Hi darling!" Carolyn yelled, hearing Ruby walk through to the kitchen. "Why aren't you at Josh's?" She asked. "Oh, his mum forgot to tell him he had a family thing so he went straight home, I was over at Jessie's for a bit that's why I'm late." Ruby explained, turning around to see Octavia. "Why are you here, Octavia?" Ruby asked, feeling very curious. "Oh, just filling your mum in about our chat the other day. I've got to get back to the office now anyway, see you Ruby." Octavia said. "Mum, what aren't you telling me?" Ruby said, getting angry. "Nothing.." "Mum!" She yelled. "OK, Octavia found your father and he wants to meet you." Carolyn explained. "Oh, that's great." Ruby said, feeling happy inside but looking gloomy on the outside. "What's wrong? Don't you want to meet him?" Carolyn asked. "I don't know, I do but I don't." Ruby said. "You can go upstairs and think about it if you like." She said. "Yes, see you at dinner." She said, walking up to her room.
