18. Love And Other Disasters

Lauren

I put away my phone and looked up at Chaz.

"I- I didn't want that to happen, oh my God. I'm sorry." I looked at the floor and then back at Chaz, who looked at me angry and began to walk up and down the room.

"Chaz, I-"

He looked at me and snapped "Be quiet!"

I narrowed my eyes. "You can't forbid me to speak up!"

"And you can't think that I don't care if you hit on every guy."

I crossed my arms over my chest and my mouth fell open.

"Excuse me?!" I asked in horror.

He looked at me and then came back a couple of steps toward me.

"First you look at Zayn as if you had never seen a boy before and then..." he waved around with his hands, "then this!"

I shook my head.

"Would you know me, you wouldn't talk like that, Chaz! Do you think just because I think someone is good looking, I'll leave you or cheat on you?"

He looked at me and then looked away.

"I can't believe it! You know Chaz, I have no idea if it makes any sense between us! Get in touch with me, if you don't think that bad of me and aren't a selfish bastard anymore!"

I grabbed my bag and ran out of the house. Since the Somers were almost our neighbors, I was quickly at home. I unlocked the door and slammed full against someone.

"Can't you watch?" I snapped. I looked up and exactly into Zayn Malik's brown eyes.

"I- I'm sorry" he said, although I was the one who was actually to blame.

I snorted and quickly ran to my room. I slammed the door, locked it and turned up the music so loud, until I could no longer hear my thoughts. But finally I begin to cry.

Matt's View

"You should really join our football team!" Zayn looked at me enthusiastically. "It's really cool. And we have some good-looking cheerleaders..." He winked at me and I had to grin.

"Zayn, trust me, I don't think I'm the guy for that."

He looked at me dismissively and then laughed. "Are you serious?"

I looked at him with narrowed eyes. "Zayn, don't get me wrong, but-" He lifted a hand and cut me off mid-sentence.

"Just come to the audition at Friday and if you like it, you can try it, if not, I won't  annoy you any longer, okay?"

I laughed and then nodded slowly. "You said something about cheerleaders. You know, my sisters were ones at our old school."

Zayn stopped smiling. "You mean Lauren?"

I nodded slowly. "... And Melody, yeah. Maybe they want to join your cheerleaders. Just ask them..." I wanted to add something, but my phone began to vibrate.

I looked at it; it was a message from Selena. I smiled and looked up. Zayn grinned at me with a raised eyebrow.

"A message from an admirer?"

I chuckled and said, "Something like that."

Zayn sighed and now his cell phone rang.

He glanced at it and now I asked "A message from an admirer?"

He laughed. "Certainly not. It's from my sister. She comes to pick me up soon."

"Ah, okay."

"Can I get me a drink?" he asked.

"Sure. The kitchen is at the front, left of the front door." He nodded and left. I grabbed my phone and opened the message.

Speechless I stared at the display. I couldn't believe what she had written to me.

Justin Bieber and one of my sisters.

I wrote comforting words and then immediately wanted to meet up with her.

I put away my phone and heard as Lauren called "Can't you watch?" I frowned and walked to the door.

"Everything okay?" I asked Zayn, who stared up the stairs.

"Sure," he said. "Your sister..." Zayn shook his head slowly.

"Oh," I said and grimaced. "Sorry."

Outside it honked and Zayn said, "My sign."

He emptied his glass and then smiled at me. We made a handshake.

"See you tomorrow," I said, holding the door open.

"See you," he said, gave me the glass and was out the door.

Harry

I was driving with my skateboard on our driveway as a car almost hit me. I fell off my board; the car stopped with screeching brakes and someone got out.

"Oh my God, oh my God. I'm so sorry! Are you okay? Oh my God!"

I looked up and looked straight into the most beautiful dark eyes I had ever seen. The girl knelt beside me, gently stroked with one hand my own hand and looked me straight in the eye.

"Um, uh, nothing happened," I stammered, smiled and said, "Everything's perfect."

I stood up, brushed over my jeans and took my skateboard.

I held my hand out and said "I'm Harry."

The girl stood up and smiled.

"I'm Tamina."

She took my hand and shook it.

"Are you going to Richmond?" I asked.

"Yeah, but today I wasn't there. Had an appointment."

I frowned. "How old are you? Twenty two?"

Tamina laughed. "No, only nineteen."

For a while no one said anything. We only looked each other in the eyes.

"Um... Are you going to Richmond?" she asked finally.

"Yeah, since Monday." I smiled at her and she smiled back.

Someone else got out of the car and shouted "Tam, are you coming?" I looked to the side and spotted Zayn.

"Hey, Zayn," I greeted him.

"Oh, hey, Harry" he said. "Ah, you know Tam already. My…" Oh, please don’t tell me his girlfriend, please don’t tell me she’s his girlfriend... "sister." I smiled relieved and nodded.

"Zayn, when should you be there?" asked Tamina.

"Um," Zayn looked at his cell phone. "Right now."

"Oh... sorry. Um, get in already," she said and smiled.

Zayn nodded and said to me, "See you tomorrow."

He went and got in again. I looked back at Tamina and she smiled at me. "I think I have to go now."

Our hands were still together, but slowly we let go off each others hands. Tamina went to the driver's door and then turned again.

"Until tomorrow... Harry." She smiled and got in.

"Bye."

I waved and walked to the front door. Before I could unlock it, someone already opened it with a jerk and I ran into Matt.

"Hey, uh, I gotta go to Selena," he hissed and I looked at him.

"Why are you so angry?"

He looked at me.

"I'm not angry..." he said angrily. Furious, he looked at me and I pulled an eyebrow.

"Okay... maybe a little."

"What's the matter?"

"Justin has cheated on Selena with Melody."

I tore my eyes. "Really? Wow..."

"Well, that's the reason I have to go to Sel. I'll see you later." He briefly tapped on my shoulder and then he was gone.

Hm... Crazy shit. I knew that the bomb would go off sooner or later, but I was hoping that Justin would clarify everything with Selena and wouldn't let it end like this.

I shrugged and walked up the stairs to my room.

Justin

After a long time I had convinced Melody that it was my fault alone. She was now in the bathroom to put on makeup again.

I grabbed my laptop and logged me in on facebook. A few new invitations, new messages... I wrote most back quickly and then sighed. I ran my tongue over my lips and clicked on my relationship status. I quickly changed it from "In a relationship with Selena Gomez" to "Single". I updated my site and after a few seconds a lot of people had written their opinion underneath, something like "Oh my God, I'm so sorry" or "I knew anyway that it wouldn't last long". Annoyed, I logged out again and closed the laptop.

Five minutes later Melody was still in the bathroom. I considered already, whether I should knock on the bathroom door, but even if I would do it, she hadn't noticed it anyway.

I went back to my bed and left me fall with the face on it.

After another five minutes Melody was still in the bathroom. Slowly, I began to worry.

I stood up and looked at my phone. Nothing new.

Suddenly my bedroom door was pushed open and Caitlin stood in front of it.

"Hey. Justin," she looked at me sadly. "I've read it. I'm sorry for you and Selena..."

She came up to me, but at that moment Melody was already in the door and tried to close her necklace.

"Justin, could you-" she looked up and saw Caitlin.

"Oh, hey," she said and then came to me.

Mel stood in front of me and I grasped round her waist. Then my fingers loosened hers and I closed her necklace. I drew a small heart on her neck and Mel giggled. Meanwhile, Caitlin just stared at us the whole time.

When I was finished, Mel turned around and took my hands in hers and smiled briefly at me. Then she turned back around.

"Um, hello," said Caitlin. "And you are...?"

Mel smiled and took a few steps forward to pick up her shoes and then looked back at Caitlin.

"I'm Melody and you?"

"Caitlin."

Melody smiled kindly, but Caitlin stared at her angrily. Then she shook her head and looked at me.

"Can we talk?"

"Sure," I said, but she looked at Melody and said "Alone."

I was about to ask what her problem was, but Melody put her hand on my shoulder.

"It's okay, I have to go anyway."

She smiled and gave me a kiss on the cheek, which was very close to my lips. Then she put on her shoes and walked a few steps forward.

"See you later, Jus." She smiled at me and then went over to Caitlin. "Bye Caitlin."

Melody waved briefly and left.

Caitlin watched derogatory until Mel had disappeared from my room, then she sighed and looked up at me. I sat down on my bed and looked at Caitlin.

"So, what do you want?"

She sat down next to me and said, "Well, I thought, you wouldn't feel good because you broke up with Selena... But apparently you're doing better, huh?" She crossed her arms slightly and looked at me.

"Just to clear this up, Selena broke up with me and of course I'm not okay, but we've distanced ourselves from each other and, well, other people entered our lives."

Now she smiled nasty and stood up. "You cheated on her," she concluded.

Quickly I stood up and looked at her. "And even if I did, it doesn't have to bother you."

She took both my hands and said "Of course it does! Justin, we're... friends."

I brushed her hands away and looked at her seriously.

"And because we are friends, there are some things that only affect me and not you."

She crossed her arms again.

"But I guess your fans think it's interesting..." she said.

"What the hell are you talking about?" I asked and looked at her confused.

Caitlin looked at me and suddenly it clicked. Now I was the one who grabbed her hands, but not so gently as she did... no, certainly not.

"You don’t dare," I spat, my mind was racing.

What the hell was going on today?!

"Why not, Justin?" She smiled at me innocently and continued. "Of course there are a few ways that you can prevent it. Want to hear them?"

I let go of her hands. "Who should believe you?"

"Shall we find out?" she asked, pulling out her cell phone. I sighed and sat back on my bed. She also sat down next to me.

"So, do you want to hear them, Justin?"

I buried my face in my hands and nodded.

"So first you could leave this little bitch. But you won't, right? On the other hand, you left me because of your career, right?"

I paused.

"Wait a minute. It's not about Selena and me or Melody and me, right? Your pride is just hurt."

She looked at me and moved a little closer, then she mimicked me slightly "And even if, it doesn't have to bother you."

I looked at her. The first time in a long time I looked her quite straight in the eye.

"Caitlin, we are friends. Sure, we were together and it was nice, sure, but now we're just friends."

She looked away and took a deep breath.

"I am aware of, but I don't understand why I should wish you luck in love! It's just not fair that you find someone new and I don't. And that all the time." Now she looked at me again.

"But the worst thing is that you don't enjoy it, no. You simply take the first best girl that you can find and fall in love with her. And you ask yourself not even one second, whether it is worth it to give up everything or whether you could really love this person with all faults. No, you just crash it."

“You don't understand, Caitlin. I-"

"Shut up! You've got no idea and eventually you don't even realize that you would probably actually do anything for your career. How long will this last between you and her? Days? Weeks? Perhaps even months? But then it will be over, you know why? Because she's not your great love." She shrugged and stood up. "No, that's your career."

She looked at me again and then went to the door.

"Caitlin?" I asked.

She stopped and turned to me with a questioning look.

"I'm sorry," I said and she crossed her arms.

"No, I'm sorry. I deceived me horribly in you. I wanted to believe that you are a good person. Hm, I guess we are no longer friends now." She laughed lightly. "We never were something like that after you got famous and we broke up, right, Justin?"

She turned around and disappeared from my view. Below, I heard her goodbye to my mom and then drove off with her car.

I let myself fall back onto my bed and closed my eyes. Although I knew she was wrong, her words kept repeating in my head.
