Power and Promise

"Yeah well," I said to the one and only Tony Stark. "My dad cheated on my mom by having an affair with a horse and a snake, so he's kind of a jerk, yeah."
"He's more than a jerk." Tony said.
"I know that. But I don't like cursing."

Yeah, my dad is Loki. And he's a first class jerk, just ask my mom. He made me a promise though. He said he'd always come find me if I needed him. Do I need him now after everything?
Or will just my power be enough?

1. Yeah, I Have Powers

"Listen you absolute-" the house shook slightly and I closed my eyes, trying desperately to calm myself.

Don't blow your top, stay cool.

"Look, she was hot, okay?" My boyfriend said with a silky smile. "But it was only one time okay darling, let's just go to bed now huh?" His hand slowly snaked his way up my shirt and I smacked his hand away.

"Uh, no." I told him angrily. He cheated on me. With my best friend.

"Come on, don't be like that." He said in a smooth tone.

"'Like that'?! 'Like that'?! Excuse me, I wasn't the one whose sleeping around Shawn!" The house rumbled again and this time a bookshelf toppled over.

"Yeah but..." He fingered my arms before grabbing them firmly.

"Let me go," I growled.

"No, no, you're my girlfriend Hela." He whispered in my ear.

"Let. Me. GO." I hissed. The lights started to flicker on and off. He looked scared but it was quickly replaced.

He licked my neck and I shuddered. How is this ever a turn on?

"Come on baby," he whimpered. The knives on the counter started to shudder.

No. No, no, calm down. Calm down.

My heart beat harshly in my ears. This wasn't me. I didn't want this.

"Baby-" he gave a small gurgle and went limp in my arms, his eyes widening. I screamed, covering my mouth with my hands as I backed up, throwing his limp body onto the floor, a knife stuck firmly in his back.

"Oh my gosh..." I whispered. That wasn't me, I didn't control that, I swear I didn't! And with that I did what I was always good at: disappearing.

I stood behind a counter a few months later, putting change into an older woman's hand along with a receipt.

"Have a nice day!" I told her. She gave me a large smile that was too big on her wrinkly face and stepped out the doors. I could almost believe I was normal.

"Hello," said a voice. I looked up to the face of a young man, a famous young man too be exact. Tony Stark.

"I'd like a nice steaming cup of you-are-screwed." He said with a smile.

"Ah, well, this isn't a Starbucks, you might have seen the nice big Walmart sign outside?" I plastered on a smile and folded my arms.

"Yeah," he whispered, leaning across the counter. "Well I know.. Who you are.." I froze and then smiled again. He wasn't wrong. I guess I was screwed.

"If you aren't buying anything sir, I'll have to ask you to get out of line." He gave me wink and then strutted out of the store. My smile dropped.

"Hey Sally!" I called. My friend turned her head, her blond hair hanging in waves past her shoulder blades.

Much prettier than me.

"Yeah?" She asked.

"Tell the boss that I left early because I don't feel well." I then left- with panic blurring my mind.

The suns rays left the sky and I sat in an empty ally, air hissing between my teeth sharply. I knew that if they knew who I was, they had my apartment heavily guarded. A pair of rough hands grabbed my shoulders and pinned me against the wall and I stifled a scream.

"Hello Hela." I squirmed, my heart beating a mile a minute.

No, no, no, let me go.

"Please let me go, I don't want to hurt you."

"Oh look at you, Loki's little girl doesn't want to hurt anyone! I find that slightly humorous."

"I don't okay?!" I shouted. He didn't let go though, and I could feel metal smooth on my skin. Tony stark wearing his suit. Great.

"Don't yell, I've got a hell of a hangover."

I'll bet you do.

"Listen," I whispered. "I just have powers, that's it, just powers."

"Ones that helped you kill your boyfriend."

"That wasn't me." I told him truthfully. He scoffed.

"I don't like your dad all that much." Tony growled.

"Yeah well," I said to Tony Stark. "My dad cheated on my mom by having an affair with a horse and a snake, so he's kind of a jerk, yeah."

"He's more than a jerk." Tony said.

"I know that. But I don't like cursing."

His grip on me loosened a bit.

"If you didn't do it, who did?" I sighed. This question. This stupid question.

"I don't know," I said. "I just know it wasn't me."
