Walking The Dead

Cameron has a rough life, even before the apocalypse. Her family is dead and she only has a few important people in her life now and she can't lose any more. She wants to survive and be happy but she knows she can't have both. When romance sparks, and her sister has an accident, Cameron doesn't think she wants to do it anymore. Can she survive everything that happens?

19. No more surprises

*Sean's POV*

It's probably been about six hours since Cameron and Carl left and I don't really like the idea of them being alone together for a this long. Partially because I don't think Carl can keep her safe, he hasn't proven himself to me yet. I look over at Rick and he doesn't seem all that into the idea either.

"Why do you look worried?" I ask, but I think I know the answer.

"I-I'm not, I'm anxious for Carl and Cameron to get back," he answered, but he still looked worried. I wonder if he doesn't trust his own son, or he just doesn't like Cameron.

"So, do you think it was a good idea for them to go out by themselves?" I'm going to get his truthful answer.

"Yes, of course. Why do you ask?" He turned to me, and tried to change his expression.

"I don't know, you just seem like you think it was a bad idea. You can tell me, it can be our little secret if you want," I need to know who he doesn't trust.

"I trust them both," dang, "but, just not together," Jackpot!

"What do you mean?" It takes a lot of concentration to not smile.

"They're both still young, and I know living in this world makes you grow up faster, but I'm just not sure about it. I have a bad feeling about this whole thing," Bingo! This is how I will get on Ricks side and slowly get Carl out of the picture.

*Cameron's POV*

It's been a while of walking and we've finally made it to Shoppers Drug Mart. We peer in the windows and there's not a lot there, but we're going to take whatever's left. We look for walkers, and we're ready for one to pop out of no where.

A few stumble out of the washroom so Carl and I take them out with our knives. We knock on on of the shelves to see if any more walk out, but none do, so we figure we're safe.

"I think it's clear," I whisper to Carl.

"Yeah, let's grab as much as we can," He doesn't whisper so I'm guessing he's confident that we're safe.

"We should be quick, it's going to get dark soon," I say as I pack five cans of soup into my bag.

"I don't think we'd make it back even if we left right now, so we'll need to find a place to stay for the night," He doesn't even look up from jamming three boxes of granola bars into his backpack.

I don't really want to argue with him right now, I haven't been on many supply runs and I'm guessing he knows what he's doing. I just continue stuffing food into my bag.

After we take everything that can fit in our bags we head to the closest house or anywhere safe that we can spend the night in.

"Do you see any places?" Carl asks me, I'm still looking around for one and faintly see a nice-ish looking house down the road a little.

"There!" I point, and we both start running towards it.

I'm definitely not a long distance runner because I can feel myself getting a cramp very soon after we start running. I don't want Carl to see how weak I am, so I just keep going. We get to the driveway and Carl starts walking. Thank god. It felt like I was dying, I was breathing really heavy. It was a weird feeling, I started feeling dizzy, my legs were going numb, and now my sight was going black. I can feel myself starting to fall over but I can't do anything about it, none of my body parts are working. If this doesn't mean I'm really out of shape, I don't know what does.

*Carl's POV*

We arrive at the house and walk up the doorsteps. I haven't taken my eye's off of it the whole time. I walk up to the door. It was open a crack.

"Do you want to check it for walkers, or should I?" I whisper to Cameron not looking back.

No answer.

"Cameron," I turn around. She's not there.

Was she kidnapped. No, she couldn't have been I would've heard something. I run down the steps of the house and find her face down on the concrete.

"Cameron?" I try to awaken her. Nothing. I can't help but panic right now.

"Cameron!?" I put my hand on her back and move her around. Still nothing.

I saw blood streaming down the concrete driveway. What is going on.

I pick her up and carry her into the house, there's a small room right beside the front door on the inside. I peer into the room, it's clear, so I put Cameron down on the couch and clear the rest of the house.

I just hope there's no more surprises.
