Walking The Dead

Cameron has a rough life, even before the apocalypse. Her family is dead and she only has a few important people in her life now and she can't lose any more. She wants to survive and be happy but she knows she can't have both. When romance sparks, and her sister has an accident, Cameron doesn't think she wants to do it anymore. Can she survive everything that happens?

13. Can We Talk?

*Sean's POV*

I don't know if I should have said that, I don't feel accomplished or anything, but I like Cameron. I've always thought she was cute, at school and stuff, but now that I've gotten to know her, I like her. I can't let Carl take that away from me.

I was thinking of apologizing but what if he decides to leave?

That was what I wanted, right?

I went to her room and we were just talking.

*Carl's POV*

I wanted to ask Sean about it, but it definitely seems like he doesn't want to be around me. I could talk to Cameron but what if it was true. What if she really just didn't want me here? She could have just wanted to be polite by not turning away. I should just keep this to myself until it comes up.

I didn't want to believe it, I think I like her. No. I like her.

I like Cameron and nothing was going to change that, not even rude comments from Sean.

I started walking towards Cameron's room and heard crying. I stopped at the doorway so whoever was in there couldn't see me.

"Look, it's okay Cameron," it sounded like Sean, I didn't know he was in there.

She was sobbing now, what could he have told her that was so bad?

"I thought he liked me," I hear her say through her tears.

Were they talking about me?

"Yeah, he's a nice guy, but he did say that he thinks you're pushy," Sean sounded very convincing, but I would never say that about Cameron.

"How could he say that? I'm not pushy, am I?" I peered through the crack in the door. Sean had her in his arms, cradling her almost. Her head was resting on his shoulder and she looked up at Sean.

He looked back down at her, "No, you're no where near pushy," He looked like he was going to kiss her.

She realized what he wanted and sat up, "I just don't understand," she dodged his kiss.

If she didn't want to kiss me she could have dodged it, but she wanted too because our lips were about a centimeter away when Sean walked in... Sean.

He really doesn't like me, he's pushing me away.

"It's his loss, because you're such an amazing girl, Cameron, you are," I can't believe this, why does he have to lie instead of tell me he doesn't like me, like a grown up.

I couldn't listen anymore, I turned around and started walking away. Trying to be quiet so they don't hear me. I wasn't looking where I was going and knocked over a bunch of empty soup cans. Oh crapwhat do I do know? I ran, superman jumped onto the couch, and pretended to be thinking.

Cameron ran out, looked around, saw me sitting on the couch, and just said 'oh'. She got all teary eyed and went back into her room. She closed the door, but I could still hear her sobbing.

Her crying made me want to cry, I could help but wonder what other horrible things Sean might have told Cameron.

I wanted to go talk to her, but I'll have to wait until Sean leaves her room.

I smelled campfire and wondered who it was. I looked around and saw my dad, Judith, and Aliyah outside. I made my way outside and my dad, who had just taught Aliyah how to build a fire, was now teaching her about knife and gun safety.

"Dad, what are you doing?" I questioned what he was doing.

"I thought it was best if she knew how a gun functions, maybe even how to use it," he sounded like he knew what he was doing.

"Dad, she's 9, I doubt she'll remember how to use it when the time comes," I was making sure that my dad was making the right decision.

"Yeah, don't you think she needs to know this? Given the world nowadays?" He looked at me with hurt eyes, like he was practicing for when he has to teach Judith.

"I guess you're right, she'll need to at least know the basics. When the time comes it'll be useful," I just agreed so this wouldn't turn into an argument.

I turned around to look inside the house and see if Sean had left Cameron's room yet. He just walked out of the room and into the kitchen. I didn't see Cameron leave so I went in the house to try and talk to her.

I came to the doorway, the door was shut, I took a deep breath and knocked three times. She opened it and when she saw it was me, the look on her face crushed me.

"Um, hi," She didn't smile or anything, It looked as if tears were beginning in her eyes.

I wanted to be straight up, "Can we talk?"
