I hate love stories. Any novel or book that starts with "I hate love stories" I shrug off and mumble "bullshit." I hate the fake love scene where they obsess over this "Perfect guy" and always screamed about how the girl was smart and pretty, but what I hate more was the stories that pretended they weren't such bullshit.
You see these romance stories all the time, he saw her and she saw him and it was perfect. He was handsome she was beautiful and everyone thought they were perfect. She was scared, but he new what to say because the world is perfect like that.

I'm calling Bullshit.

7. "Date"

The bus turned into the parking lot and with a heavy sigh stopped behind Hardies. Mrs. Con stood up and fixed her short white hair before re-remind us of all the rules, which were basically don't become road kill.

As the herd of hungry students eagerly nudged their way off the bus and on their way to food Jacob asked, "Why not have lunch with me?"

"Sure I don't see why not." I answered with a shrug while following down the crowed bus.

He got a cheesy smile and did a goofy dance before saying, "It's almost like a date."

I laughed at him, "Yeah totally. Just going on a date while were both in a relationship with other people. Suuuure."

One by one the buses spilled out the fancy choir students. Almost immediately did the students start wondering near the street and try to run across to McDonalds. Jacob and me looked around confused for a bit on where to go.

"Hardies?" He asked while wondering off the yellow school bus. He looked really nice in a white dress shirt. I gave him a shrug as we headed for Hardies. "So are things really just fine with you and Dakota?" He asked while kicking rocks off the sidewalk.

I laughed at him, "Are you just trying to make yourself feel less guilty?"

His eyes grew wide and dark when he answered "No it's just if things were really so great most girls wouldn't pick the word "fine". Also, most girls wouldn't go near a guy who asked them to have a one night stand if they were really that happy with their boyfriend."

This kid was more clever than I thought. He kept staring at me still waiting on the answer. How could I tell him? He'd look at me like I'm an idiot for dating a guy who fantasizes about telling our kid how he's a serial killer. Jacob would be right to call me an idiot for dating Dakota.

Jacob stopped in his tracks and put his hand on my shoulder. As if reading my mind he said, "Don't worry no matter what's going on I won't think bad of you for it. You had to tell me that I had an abusive girl friend for me to realize it."

I give him a smile and we start walking again. The cars were zooming past us making the end of my white dress dance, and the many choir kids were chatting away about the contest, but Jacob and I felt the silence as he still waited form e to answer. "So," I started, "maybe things aren't really great with Dakota and I. Maybe, things aren't even ok."

Jacob stared quietly and listened. He listened when we reached Hardies, he listened as we waited in line, he listened when we got our drinks, and he listened as we sat in the booth. I guess you don't really realize how much is wrong in your relationship until someone asks you to be honest.

Jacob rubbed his eyes and stuffed a curly fry into his mouth before saying, "It's not right. I mean it's sweet that you would date him despite his mental state, but that's no excuse to treat you like that." He looked down at his burger and tore at its wrapping while mumbling "Especially not a girl like you."

"Whats that suppose to mean?" I asked as I flicked a fry at him.

He just shrugged, "Most girls would go bragging to their friends that a taken guy want to cheat on his girlfriend for you. Instead your still here keeping it a secret."

"Please you just want someone to help with your situation down there." I shrugged while digging into my fries.

Jacob blushed and rubbed the back of his neck, "It's a little different."

"Well like I said I've actually liked you for a long time." It was weird hearing him say that  with out hearing "So will you do it?" follow. I felt eyes burrow into my back. I turned around and watched as a majority of sopranos from various tables quickly glances away.

"I think they're on to us." I joked as Jacob followed my gaze. Instead of getting upset he just smiled and shrugged it off with me.

As Jacob takes up his cup and sips his soda I read the slogan "EAT IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT" immediately I start laughing again. Jacob looks at me worried and confused "What?"

I pointed at his cup and he turned it over and read it. "Your minds almost as dirty as mine." He said while shaking his head. We both crumble up our wrappers and throw them in the trash. We push our way through the thick line of students and headed outside.

The moment our shiny black shoes hit the sidewalk Jacob began wondering away from the bus. "Where are you going?" I asked with a motherly tone.

"Nooo wheeere." Jacob responded and he vanished around the corner. I looked back to the students slowly re-boarding the bus, and then to the wild ivy Jacob disappeared behind.

Whether it was my over whelming curiosity or hatred for the noisy hot bus I found myself peeking around the ivy. Jacob was leaning on a fence watching preschoolers play on the jungle gym. "What are you doing?" I asked in a sincere tone.

"Nothing, I just don't want to go back to school yet." He answered without taking his eyes off a little green basketball. He turned around and hugged me tight. I could feel his warm breath on my neck and his hand on my lower back pull me close. "I just don't know what I'm going to do." There was a long pause. The only sound was children laughing and playing, and cars zooming by in the distance.

"Tell you what," I said as I pushed him off of me so I could look him in the eyes, "I'll come over Sunday and we'll talk about it. Besides you did dare me." Jacobs eyes grew brighter form black into a chocolate brown.

"That'd be nice." He said with a smile a we wondered our way back to the bus.
