Crash of Olympus

Delia Nelson is new to Camp Half-Blood. She doesn't understand why no one ever told her "Hey, you're a demigod." if so many people knew about her. And the whole Greek Mythology thing never really intrigued her. But now, she has to adjust to a new life full of it. Especially because her parent is a god or goddess. On top of all that, everyone at camp is freaking out because some "Great Prophecy" seems to be happening right before their eyes. Only the prophecy isn't really that great, and it could involve a lot of deaths. And of course, Delia has something to do with it.

17. Chapter 17

We found a few more of those monsters. I've decided to call them transformers, because they transform. And because I love the transformers. Anyways, there were some cows walking around in a field and eating grass. Then when we got close to them, they transformed. They never found us, and within thirty minutes, they transformed back into cows.

We decided to sleep in a cave. Leo made a fire and we were currently discussing what we were going to do.

"We're going to take shifts sleeping."

"I'll take first watch." Percy suggested.

"You sure?"

"Yeah. I'm not that tired. Besides, you two need to sleep. While I'm watching I can iris message Annabeth and Chiron."

"Alright, that sounds good."

I looked past the flames and into the woods. I couldn't see the sky from where we were because of all of the trees. Sure, I had Percy and Leo here, but I was kind of scared. Looking at the sky would calm me down. I wasn't really sure if I could sleep if I was so scared.

"Tomorrow, we can keep looking and of we keep finding out all this stuff we might be able to go home soon."

"Great. I miss the safety of camp."

Something moved outside.

"Um...did you see that?" I stood up.

"See what?"

I walked over to the edge of the cave and immediately felt the cool night air. The wind blew my hair back.

"Something's out there."

"Something like what?"

"I don't know."

I peeked outside but it wasn't much use. It was too dark to see anything.

"Leo, would you mind?"

"Oh, yeah." He came over and lit his hand.

At first nothing caught my eye. Then the trees started moving. A pair of red eyes shone from above.

I squinted my eyes to see if I could make it out.

The eyes were font and were suddenly on the ground in front of me.

I backed up and ran into Leo. Part of my arm touched the flames and I screamed.

Why am I such a klutz?

"Oh my gods, I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault." I looked at my arm.

It hurt really bad, but I want going to let it show. I looked back at the eyes.

"What are you?" I asked.

The thing stayed in the shadows as if it was waiting for me to approach it. Should I? Would it be safe?

Yes, Delia Nelson. Come towards me.

I looked at Leo with desperate eyes. "What do I do?" I ask.

"What do you mean?"

"You didn't hear it?"

"No. Hear what?"

Percy just looked really confused when I looked at him.

Hurry. We do not have much time.

I twisted my bracelet, thinking. Does she know about my bracelet? Can I bring Percy to help just in case? Or should I bring Leo for light sources?

Come alone. And if you wish, bring the sword. Although, I doubt you will be needing it.

"So she can read my thoughts?"

"What?" Asked Percy.

"Nothing. It's just the fumes from the cave." I lied. "I'm going to step outside for some fresh air."

"I'll go with you."

"No! Uh, no. I need time to think, clear my head. I won't go far I promise. And I'll be back in thirty minutes tops."

"Thirty minutes?"

"I promise."

He sighed. "Okay. But stay close in case anything happens."

I stepped out of the cave where the crisp night air wrapped around me.
