Crash of Olympus

Delia Nelson is new to Camp Half-Blood. She doesn't understand why no one ever told her "Hey, you're a demigod." if so many people knew about her. And the whole Greek Mythology thing never really intrigued her. But now, she has to adjust to a new life full of it. Especially because her parent is a god or goddess. On top of all that, everyone at camp is freaking out because some "Great Prophecy" seems to be happening right before their eyes. Only the prophecy isn't really that great, and it could involve a lot of deaths. And of course, Delia has something to do with it.

16. Chapter 16

I've never actually seen a gorgon before. I did hear about Percy's experiences with them and I knew it wasn't pleasant.

Percy was dragging Delia down the street. I could tell she was frustrated about it. She kept trying to break free of his grip.

Once she did, we moved a lot faster.

I wasn't sure if they were following us or not, be we didn't look back to check. At least I didn't.

There really wasn't a reason to when one landed right in front of Delia.

"Free sample?"

"Uh, no thanks."

"C'mon. They taste a lot better than they look."

"Stheno!" Another hissed. "I've already told you the job doesn't matter!"

"Oh, yes it does."

"I thought I already took care of you two." Said Percy.

I noticed his hand was in his pocket. Delia was twisting her bracelet as if contemplating on wether or not to use it.

"Ah, Percy Jackson. You put us in Tartarus much too long."

"You should've been in there longer, honestly."

"Are you sure you don't want to try some, honey? You look hungry."

"It's fine. I just ate."

"I'd hate to have to kill you if you're hungry. I insist. Take one."

"Kill us?" Delia swallowed.

"Mhm. Don't worry though. As long as you've eaten--"

"Stheno! Shut up!"

"But Euryale--"

"Shut up!"

Euryale circled around us and lenses behind me.

"Leo Valdez." I turned quickly.

"What do you want?"

"I don't believe we've met. And this girl." She went over to Delia. "You aren't familiar either." Euryale picked up a strand of her hair and slid it through her fingers. "I'd love to get to know you two."

"As much as we'd love to stay and chat, I'm afraid we have some things to do." Delia pushed her off.

Stheno's smile faded. "You really need to eat before Euryale gets a hold of you. Here, take a ham cracker! They're 25% off!"

Percy drew his sword.

"I'd really hate to send you back to Tartarus."

"I don't have a problem killing you demigods. Our master tells us it would be our best shot at a promotion."

"Ooh! A promotion!" Stheno squealed.

"Master?" I questioned.

"Oh, yes! He's very great. Way better than grumpy ol'-"

"Don't say anything to them!" The second sister hissed. "We aren't falling for any tricks, this time, Jackson."

"Man. Guess we'll have to find another way." He sighed.

"Fight us!"

"With pleasure."

Percy charged the first sister, while the other said something about her ham-flavored-crackers (not very appealing by the way) and fighting on an empty stomach.

Delia was already taking on the next one, swinging her sword. Stheno dropped the tray and tried to grab her.

Euryale pushed Percy off of her- in the process throwing riptide somewhere-and raced over to Delia. She grabbed her by her neck.

"Hey!" I protested, setting my hands on fire. "Let her go!"

"You better let my sister go, or so help me, I will--"

"Any move you make, Jackson, could harm her. And you, Leo Valdez. With your fire, it would burn her. Maybe even kill her. You don't want that to happen again, do you?"

"Shut up."

I clenched my fists. She was just trying to get under my skin, that's all.

Delia was trying to pry Euryales arms off from around her neck. I noticed her sword wasn't a sword anymore. It was a bracelet.

I tried to make eye contact with her so I could try to tell her about it, but she was too concentrated on trying to get herself out of the situation.

Stheno was picking up her crackers and placing them back on the tray.

"Um, about those samples?"

Percy shot me a look.

"Yes? Do you want one?"

"Actually, yeah. I'm kinda hungry."

"Ooh, take one!"

I picked it off of the tray. It smelled awful. Why would anyone even make ham-flavored-crackers? The fact that they were on the ground didn't make them any more appealing.

Reluctantly, I took a bite. I forced myself to chew and swallow the disgusting snack.

"Mm. Delia. You should really try one of these. They're great!"

I felt like I was going to be sick.

Delia looked at me as if I was crazy. I glanced down at her wrist and back up at her. She looked down, and got the message.

"Are you sure?" She asked.

Stheno brought over the snacks. "I'm so glad you changed your mind!"

"Metamorphoó!" Delia's bracelet transformed, and she grabbed the hilt.

She turned and punched the first sister, and hit the other with her weapon. I threw fire at the one furthest away from Delia, while Percy uncapped Riptide.

Euryale turned to dust with a slash of Percy's sword. He turned and killed the other simply by decapitating it.

Delia screamed as the head fell and turned to dust.

"You okay?" I asked.

She ran over to me and wrapped me in a hug.

"Percy's insane." She whispered. "He just chopped off her head. She was so sweet. All she wanted was for me to try the crackers."

"She wanted to kill you, too. He did the right thing, chica."

"But...he could've been less morbid."

"I guess you're right."

Percy cleared his throat. "Um, Delia? Are you okay?"

"Yes. I'm fine. Thank you for...saving me back there."

"No problem. Let's keep moving. It getting late."

"You're right." She got her sword and started moving. Percy glared at me before continuing after her.

Things just got awkward.
