1. Chapter One

Do you want to know what is worse than your mom dating someone new? It’s you mom dating some guy that you have never even heard of before. Deep inside I was happy for her, I noticed how happy shes been lately and it made me happy too, but then she wanted us to met. She said everything would be fine and that he would help us with our financial problems. He has a son that is my age too, but how does this work? Do they just assume that we are going to get along because we are the same age? The answer is more than likely no. I've never met him before and I've never met my moms new boyfriend before, so I doubt that he’s even heard of my mom or me.

My mother woke me up early and force me to get dressed. Today was finally the dreaded day that I was going to met this so called ‘wonderful guy’ my mom has been talking about. I wasn't looking forward to it. She’s never even mentioned him to me before. Aren’t parents supposed to at least tell their kids that they are dating someone?

We drove for about an hour before we got out of the car. I got out looking up at this other man's house and my jaw dropped. This guy must be rich, it explains why she didn't tell me about him. She didn't want to fuck this up, we’ve always had money troubles, so this actually didn't really surprise me. I stared at his house, it was all gray brick and fancy structure, but It didn't look really old. It was just nice in general. “Come on sweetie.” she said, and pulled my arm, dragging me to the door. She fixed both of our clothes and knocked on the door. A few minutes later, a man opened it smiling.

He wasn't that bad looking, I was expect some really old guy, but this guy, not bad. He was pretty tall, light brown hair and blue eyes. He was dressed a lot more casual than I thought a rich man would dress. he had on simple blue jeans and red shirt. He wasn't even wearing a shoes or socks.

“Hello, you must be Jack.” the man said and held out his hand for me to shake it. I nodded and shook his hand. “You mom has told me wonderful things about you. It’s nice to finally met.” He sounded so professional, but at the same time casual. I smiled at him and he invited us in. “Alex!” he yelled up the stairs. They were long and wide, the looked like grand stairs in some kind of fancy mansion. Hell, who was I kidding, this pretty much is a mansion, but just a tad smaller.

A minute later, another boy walked down the stairs. My heart rate sped up as I examined him. Tall, just like his dad, but he had darker hair and brown eyes. He had a really lean body, and who was I kidding, this boy was attractive as hell. “Alex, this is my girlfriend Elizabeth,” he said to Alex and my mom shook his hand. “and this is her son Jack.” he said referring to me.

“Hi.” he said and shook my hand, but seem less than happy to be here. I mumbled a hi back. I, all of a sudden, felt nervous and hot under the collar. Great, my moms boyfriends son is hot as hell and I can't do anything about that. “Why are we all just meeting now?” he asked and I turned around standing next to Alex and looking at our parents.

“Well, there is something that we have to tell both of you.” Alex and I gave them confused looks. This can be good, nothing good ever comes from the sentence ‘we have something to tell you’. Last time I heard that, my mom and dad got divorced. “Why don't we all go into the living room and Mrs. Abria can make us something to drink?” he suggested. Alex nodded and groaned a little, but went straight to the living.

“Whose Mrs. Abria?” I asked and started to follow them to the living room.

“Shes our housekeeper and cook.” he replied.

“You have a housekeeper?” I asked, feeling shocked. I knew they were rich, just by the size of their house. But a housekeeper? Alex and my mom boyfriend, I have yet to even learn his name, laughed a little.

“Yes, a housekeeper. We don't even really consider her that. She’s a lot like family here, shes been around her for a long time. She just makes sure that everything is cleaned up and prepares dinner 4 nights a week. She lives 3 nights a week with her family about an hour away” oh, so shes not like your typical maid, I guess. “Mrs. Abria, can you come here please!” he yelled through the house. I hope she wasn't too far away, I don't know how you could hear anyone from the other side of the house.

A lady walked through the door a few seconds later. “Yes, can I help you?” she asked. She sounded a lot like a waitress.

“Yes, can you please get me and Elizabeth some tea and the boys some cokes?” he asked nicely. She nodded and left the room. She looked so young to be a housekeeper, but I guess working for a rich family comes with its benefits. We continued to talked for a few minutes until Mrs. Abria brought us our drinks. We thanked her and she left to got back to doing, whatever she was doing before. It was kind of awkward to be sitting in such a large room with only four people. Most of the room was black and white, very modern and fancy looking, but some old style elements to it too. I figured it must of been an older place

“So what are we all here for anyway?” Alex asked, breaking the silence and sounding really bored. I don't blame him, I was kind of bored just sitting here too. I looked over at him, he was sitting sideways in the chair, his legs dangling over the side and he had his head against the back of the chair. My mom and his dad looked at each other and nodded. I hated adult language. Why can they just speak instead.

“Okay, this is a little hard to say, because you guys only just found out about us, but…” my mom stopped look between me and Alex. “Me and Craig,” she clarified. Now I know his name. “We are getting married.” she smiled and held on to her new fiancees hand. My jaw dropped before I hear heavy, sarcastic laughter coming from next to me.

“Ale, what do you think is so funny?” he dad asked him. I looked over as he moved his legs to the floor and sat forward looking at his dad.

“Getting married? Thats funny. Good one dad.” he said still laughing. His dad stared him down until the flash of realization went through the boys eyes. “Are you fucking serious?” he asked angrily, standing up, sending the chair back a couple inches.

“Alex, watch your language.” Craig scolded him.

“No!” Alex shouted back. “How could you? She’s just another gold digger like every other girl you’ve brought home.” Okay, that is what made me mad. I didn't always get along with my mom, but she would ever just use someone for their money, no matter how much we needed it. I looked over at my mom and she looked hurt, but didn't say anything.

“Alex, stop. This is uncalled for.” Craig fought with him.

“It is too called for. This is the sixth girl you’ve brought home since mom died. They all took your money and left. What do you think this one is going to do!?” He shouted, referring to my mother.

“Stop!” I yelled at him. My mom, Craig and Alex all looked at me. This was the first I really spoken since I got here. “My mom isn’t like that okay.” I calmed down and told him, trying to defend her. Alex rested his shoulder and sighed.

“Whatever. I can't wait till I move out. Then I won't have to put up with anymore of your fucking whores prancing around the whole time.”

“Alex, that's final. Stop.” He warned him again. Alex stood there, looking defeated with his arms crossed over his chest. “Elizabeth and I are getting married and that's that. She is not like those other woman, we do love each other.”

“Right, that's what you said before.” Alex muttered under his breath, I don't think his dad or my mom heard him, but I did. I would say something too, but I wasn't like that, I always just stayed quiet. I wouldn't even know what to say.

“We are getting married and they are moving in, whether you like it or not. And,” he said, making both Alex and I look at each other. “You two are going to be sharing a room.” he said quickly and smirked.

“What!?” both Alex and I shouted at the same time.

“Dad! Come on! There are like four other rooms in this house plus a backyard, why do we have to share?” he groaned. I took a little offence to the backyard comment, but ignored it for the most part.

“Alex, you know that we are remodeling some of those house. Those rooms are packed up and no one can stay in there. So until we have that figured out, you and Jack will share a room.” I sighed and fell back against the couch sighing. This was hell, yeah, the house was nice and Craig seemed pretty nice too, but I don't want to move in with complete strangers.

“You know what, fine. Whatever. You’ll be out in six months anyway.” Alex said and stormed off, stomping his feet all the way up the stairs. Craig turned to my mom and kissed her cheek.

“I'm sorry about him. He’s been this way since him mom pass away.” he mumbled, but I could hear it.

“It’s okay sweetie.” I internally gagged. “I should go. We have lots of packing to do.” he nodded and kissed her again. The only good thing about this, my mom seemed really happy with him. “Let’s go.” she said to me and we left.

We were in the car for a while before she tapped my arm and I looked at her. “I don't wanna talk to you right now.” I groaned.

“Jack, hunny. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you.” She said in her usual sweet voice. “I’m just so happy with him and-”

“Yeah, you didn't want me to fucking it up like what I did with dad.” I cut her off from her sentence.

“No, Jacky, that's not it at all and what happened with you dad wasn't your fault, okay?” she tried to change my opinion on it.

“Mom, really its fine. Do what you want.” I told her, and slouched in my seat. “Its would have been nice if you told me before.”

“I know, I'm sorry. Please forgive me?” she asked. My mom really was a sweet lady and she always meant well. I don't know how I could stay mad at her.

“Fine.” I sighed and looked at her. She smiled at me and looked back at the road. There is no way in hell that this was going to be fun. It’s not like I had a choice. I couldn't even go live with my dad, I wouldn't want too. He was abusive and did a lot of horrible things to my mom and I. The minute he was kicked out, I told myself I would never forgive him.

Maybe moving in with this other guy would be a good thing. He seemed to make my mom happy and he had money, we would be scrounging around the house all the time. We would actually be set, that is, if they stay together. From what Alex said, this is just like every other time. I actually felt kind of bad for him, so many different woman coming into his life just for his dads money and just leaving. This was going to be a really long journey.
