Problems

"Head in the clouds, got no weight on my shoulders"
~
When I was little, I thought life was perfect. But now, everything is a lie. I face things every single day ever since my mom died. About 80 percent of them involve my dad. He wants me to be something that I'm not, and it's stupid. I can't change myself, but in order to appease to him, I made this compromise with him. This compromise was worse than what he wants me to actually be. I've got 99 problems. But you, Ashton, won't be one.

17. Sick day

I tried to talk Ashton out of visiting me and get him to go to school, but he still wasn't taking it. So the only thing that I told him about my address was the street. Never gave him my house number. I want him to guess. This is going to be forever.

Mr. Kacher emailed me my Calc stuff and Miss Louie emailed me my AP Chem notes. I worked on my research paper on Sylvia Plath for my College English class, and read the chapter in my book that Matusak sent me via email for AP government.  I hate Matusak.  After I finish most of my homework, I grab my laptop and begin searching YouTube.  "Well it's one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready now go go go!" I jump when my phone goes off and I forgot I set a ringtone to Elvis.  I pick up my phone and answer. "Hello?" "Hey Con. Just calling to ask how you're feeling?" Marlee says on the other line. My smile grows.  "Well I'm a bit better but I'm still trying to make Ashton not come over to my house." I tell her.  "Wait, is that why he's not here? He's in my English class and I didn't see him there." Marlee has English 12 first period.  "Yep. He's not here yet, but I'm praying that-" Ding!  Oh god, he's here.  "Hold on, Mar." I say taking the phone off my ear. "Hannah can you get that I'm on the phone!" She yells back saying she will and I go back to talking to Marlee.  "What happened?" Mar asked and suddenly it changed to "holy shit Con I'm super sorry but I got to go lunch is almost over and I got a Calc test. I'll stop by after school." And she hangs up. I sigh and hang up and cover myself up in my blanket again.  "Connor,..." Hannah yells then pauses and then yells again, "Ashton is here to see you!" I knew it was him.  "Can you send him upstairs?" I groan because I'm so comfy. Nothing was heard after that.  Except a knock. "Who is it?" I'm praying it's Audrey.  "It's me." I hear a male voice that is obviously Ashton's outside the door.  "It's unlocked." I reply to him referring to the door and he opens the door holding a bag. He smiles a little looking at me in my sick state and walks over to me.  "Hey, Watson." He says quietly. "I brought some goodies." Wait, goodies? For me? He's trying to bribe himself into figuring out what the questions I have planned for Thirteen Reasons Why. I just know it.  "You didn't have to, and are you just here to ask about the book?" I ask raising an eyebrow. He laughs and shakes his head. "Positive." "Watson, I don't have any tests today and I hate all of my teachers. I don't have many friends and obviously I'm not with Amy anymore. Plus you're the top of our class and you're sick. And also alone with..." He thinks for a moment, "who answered the door for me?" I sit up adjusting my pillow and setting my puke bucket on my nightstand. "Audrey. She's a maid here." His eyes widen at the word maid.  "You have your own maid?!" I roll my eyes.  "My dad is rich. Do you see how big my house is for two people?" I mention. I hate mentioning that my dad got rich in an illegal way. Ashton then shows a face of realization. "So the goodies. What did you bring?" "Oh yeah. Mind if I sit on here?" He asks referring to the foot of my bed. I nod and he sits down with the bag. He pulls out a bar of chocolate, DayQuil and NyQuil, hot chocolate, seasons 1 through 4 of How I Met Your Mother, Hershey's kisses... "What is up with you and chocolate?" I ask laughing.  "I don't know. Don't do drugs, do chocolate." He answers with a smile. He finishes the bag by pulling out a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card and Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick.  "Ashton, you really didn't have to do all of this for me. You must have spent over a hundred dollars or something on this."  He shrugs. "I know, but I..." He trails off. He what? He has another girlfriend? He has syphilis? He's moving to Arkansas? "I want to be friends. I'm not doing it because I want to get the answers to the questions which is not true at all. I actually want to be friends with you. I know we haven't even known each other for even a week, but I want to know you a little more." Friends.  He wants to be friends.  What do I do?  I feel like I already knew the answer, but I think I already told him my answer when we watched a season of How I Met Your Mother while semi-cuddling.  "Ashton, I don't want you to get sick." "Then let me get sick." Everything was alright, until I checked my clock. School was already out, and Marlee still doesn't know that Ashton actually came.  DING DONG! And she's here.    AN: I actually am working on a research paper on Sylvia Plath (she is very interesting), Blue Suede Shoes is one of my favorite Elvis Presley song (Can't Help Falling In Love is my top one), Hush, Hush is a really good book I recommend! (Basically almost all the books I mention in this story are ones I've read before).  Oh, and I actually didn't lose the chapter! Just still getting used to iOS 9. That's all! Don't do drugs, do chocolate!
