Problems

"Head in the clouds, got no weight on my shoulders"
~
When I was little, I thought life was perfect. But now, everything is a lie. I face things every single day ever since my mom died. About 80 percent of them involve my dad. He wants me to be something that I'm not, and it's stupid. I can't change myself, but in order to appease to him, I made this compromise with him. This compromise was worse than what he wants me to actually be. I've got 99 problems. But you, Ashton, won't be one.

15. read the book

So after school today, I spent an hour at the library and after Miss Malone, or Julie as she lets me call her now, dismissed me I headed to Ashton's house. I am literally thankful for Julie to be understanding of this week and my dad grounding me from working.

As I pulled into the Irwin driveway, I can see another car pull into the driveway. I put the car in park and see Nicole get out of the driver's seat. I didn't know she drives. She pulls her backpack and what looks like a gym bag out of her car as I am exiting my own car. When I closed the door and go to grab my Calc textbook, I hear a "Hey Connor" and turn around to see Nicole looking at me.

"Hey Nicole." I reply walking up the driveway.

"What brings you here?" She asks as we walk to the garage.

"I'm here to help your brother study for Calculus and I have a book for him for our bet." I answer and enter the house behind her.

"That's neat." She smiles. "Hold on let me get him." She sets her bags down and runs upstairs yelling. "ASHLEY THAT GIRLFRIEND OF YOURS IS HERE!"

God I love Nicole.

Within seconds, Ashton comes running downstairs mumbling something to himself until he looks up at me. "Oh, hey Watson."

I snicker. "Since when did we establish the last name basis Irwin?" I ask sitting on the couch setting my books down.

"Okay, first off I established it. Second you're Chinese is on the counter. Third I'm just studying for a few minutes and then I want to hang out with you."

I roll my eyes and open up my book as he sits next to me. "Alright. First off let's get have you understand limits of a function." I assign him some problems while I go get the spring rolls from the Chinese bag with all of the Chinese food. I grab the chicken lo mein box too and I also see he got general chow chicken for himself. "Do you want your-" I look over at him and I see he's lying on the couch with my book on his face. "Ashton, what the hell?"

"I don't understand this!" I hear him. "So much letters and shit!"

"That's why they call it practice makes perfect." I remind him walking back over. "What are you stumped on?" I ask.

He shows me and I try my hardest to explain everything and within the next maybe hour or so, he finally understand limits of a function even though that was the easiest section for me.

"So maybe if you have a study hall, work on some extra problems. Ask Mrs. Morell for help." Mrs. Morel was the regular Calculus teacher.

He nods and looks at me with a smile. "Thanks, Watson." He has a nice smile. One that can make a girl melt into a puddle, which is where I'm almost at with this.

No! No, Connor! You are not falling for Ashton! He's the bad boy and you're the book nerd. It's an unlikely friendship and we don't even have a friendship. This is just a tutor session with Chinese food.

I snap out of my trance. "You're welcome. Do you want me to go now or..." I ask realizing that he might ask if I want to stay after what I said. Damn it.

"No, please stay." Yep, there it is. "I want to ask about book suggestions for the bet." Oh, now I see where this is going. "Do you have any?"

I think for a moment. Do I have any books in my bag? Or my car? "Hold on. Let me check." I tell him going to my bag and looking. As I checked, I find something with the words thirteen reasons why

Hey, would you look at that! I enjoyed reading Thirteen Reasons why by Jay Asher. It was a good book. I take it out of my bag and throw it over to Ashton as he catches it. "Start out with this." I say walking back over.

He looks at the book and then the back of it and reads it. "It's about a boy who gets tapes from a dead girl? Creepy." He says setting it down on the table

I sigh. "It's not creepy. It makes you think." I reply.

"But it literally says 'Hannah is dead. Her secrets should be buried with her.'" He counters.

"Just read the fucking book and you'll understand."

Now I'm done at the moment.

Sorry for the short chapter. School starts tomorrow.
