Wonderstruck

Do you ever just see a beautiful stranger? Not just a stranger that looks nice, but a really beautiful stranger who just captures you with the way they look and the way they act and makes you think about them at 2 am. A beautiful stranger that leaves you wonder struck and makes you somehow want to see them again and be with them forever yet at the same time, make you want to stay away from them so they remain this mysterious beautiful person that's in the world that would never hurt you.
I should have gone with the latter.

Rosy's point of view

Of course Ethan walks in a couple of hours later. He's so blunt, there's not apologetic smiles or anything like that. He just walks in like he's meant to be here and stands at the end of Nicole's bed where we're both sat, his thumbs tucked into his pockets. He stares at me. I stare at him. He stares back. I stare more. He shrugs.

"Go away." I say.

"Let's go and talk." he says. He doesn't sound angry, just firm. "You can't just ignore me."

"I can."

"Rosy, let's just go and talk, what's the harm in that?"

"There's no harm."

"Exactly, why won't you come with me?"

"Because I'm pissed off."

"But I didn't do anything."

"Sure you didn't."

"Rosy, for fu-"

"Imma go outside." Nicole says tactfully, stepping out even though I try and hold her back.

I sigh and Ethan sits down on the end of the bed, looking at me. I raise an eyebrow.

"Well?" I ask.

"You cannot seriously believe that I called your dad asking him to take you home." he says, bluntly.

"What else am I supposed to believe?" I ask, desperately. "It just made sense. I was a bit scared you were getting bored of me, you randomly told me to go to Nicole's and then my dad told me that you said it-"

"I know he said that!" he exclaims, frustrated.  "I know, Rosy! But why believe him? Those other things you said are just you being paranoid and he was lying!"

"Why would he lie?" I exclaim back even though I know that that's a stupid question.

"Why would I lie to you, Rosy?" Ethan asks, his voice soft all of a sudden. "If you have to go home, then you have to go home, I'm not going to stop you but I want you to stay. I wouldn't try to get you to leave. But your dad? Your dad wants you to come home."

I sigh, knowing he's right. I feel so humiliated for making a huge deal of something that was never a problem. I look at Ethan hopefully.

"I'm sorry." I whisper.

He shakes his head, pulling me in. "Don't be sorry. I understand."

"I don't want to go home."

"You're not going anywhere." he whispers, kissing my hair.

"No, I mean back home ever." I whisper back. "I don't want to go back to my family's house."

"And I don't want you to either, but I know you have to." he pulls away to look at me properly. "And you know that as well."

I'm not sure I do know that, but I nod.
