15. Escape

The next day I awoke to sunlight coming in through metal window slits. A musty smell arose from the rust metal rimmed bed that I must have been sleeping in. Carefully trying not to wake any body I moved yet it still creaked like a horror story door... Typical. I looked around to see if there was a way out. The only door had the bench man sat in front of it (sound asleep) and the window was covered in a metal cover... I scanned the room and found Peter curled up in a pile on the floor. I may as well try and reason with him.. Or should I? I doubted I could ever forgive him for what I had done. I mean, seriously.. How could he? Just as I was making up my mind he opened his beautiful blue eyes, then quickly shook my head, those were eyes of betrayal, of an evil kidnapper, not of the kind caring boy I thought I knew.

He came over and sat down next to me, not daring to touch me. Then very quickly and quietly he spoke "ya know, if you keep kicking me like that, I ain't gonna be able to have any kids." "That's what you deserve" I spat back, not caring about the pain embedded onto his face when he ingested my reply. It was true.. He did deserve it...

Then in an even more hushed tone he quickly uttered " listen, we have to get you out of here... My hench man, well I beloved he is.. Compromised. There is a tunnel under the mat that he doesn't know about, if we go now we can escape before he wakes up and be long gone.. " "why would I want to go anywhere with you?" "Because with him, your going straight back to the big house." I shuddered at the thought, then nodded towards him. He silently dashed over to the bed sheets and reveals underneath two back packs, someone had been busy. He stuffed the blanket into one of the bags then handed me the other. I found a pair of spare clothes inside and after forcing him to turn around, I got changed. The black jeans felt tight around my legs yet gave me comfort. And the black sweater was warm and soft yet flexible. Perfect for running and hiding... He then handed me two items. First was a small satchel that clipped onto my belt, inside was a smooth ebony handle, with a. Deadly sharp blade on the end. Obviously not for spreading butter. Second was something I had never dreamed of touching. But all too soon it was out of his grasp and into mine. The cold metal we freezing and heavy in my hand. It felt unnatural but after I had tightened my grip I was able to balance the weight. My finger curved around the trigger and I pretended to take aim. I think Peter flinched a little but relaxed when I saw that the safety was on. He was lucky, if I behaved in how I was feeling before, he would be dead right now.

After grabbing some food from a bag near the hench man we proceeded to lift up the mat at the other side of the shed...
