Dragon-Age

The tales of old with dragons flying always excited Ariela. The stories told around the fire of those who did not fight the dragons but did something greater in deed, they rode them...

What if the tales of old were really not all forgotten, what if the dragons dead to the world were not dead at all, what if they were still out there, watching and waiting for the day to come when a rider would be chosen...

5. danger is coming

"We need to leave now!" My father exclaims, my mother then saw the note in my hand and the dragon next to me. She flew to my side and told me how proud of me she was. I sked what we needed to do and my father produced me with a bag. He said to out the dragon inside, he and my mother had everything else. We turned to leave but then I remembered something. My amulet, a sculpture of a dragon was carved into to the wood. It was given to me by my grandfather, he used to tell me all about the riders. He said it would protect me in times of need. After grabbing it and tiring the leather cord around my neck I grabbed the note, shoved it in my bag and we left.

My father explained that when we had reached somewhere that we would be safe then we would talk, but there were people, creatures listening intently, we were not safe in Arendale. He explained that there was a place they had prepared for this day, although the time they had to leave had came sooner than expected.

Nobody spoke until they had reached a cave. They had gone away from the woods, in the opposite direction. My father said to me "Ariela, here we are safe - for tonight, but we have much to teach you, a lot to teach you." He then asked if I had given my dragon a name. I told him I hadn't and he explained that I and the dragon hd an empathy link, we were now part of each other, I had to name her to deal the bond. He said choose wisely as the name can often mean a lot. I though of my name and how it mean's lioness of god. It described my fierce personality yet I was gentle as I lion is with their cubs, I was wise like a king of the animals is, I hd taken on a lot of characteristics of this name. So I pondered for a while and the settled on a name - Aturdokht - meaning daughter of fire. My father explained that this was a wise choice as the dragon of which I had bestowed was in fact the daughter of the fire dragon of old. All of the elements had birthed their most powerful dragonets to become the ridden dragons as the forces of evil were stronger than ever. I decided to call her Atu for short.

Upon enquiring who these evil forces were I we told that it was not important at this time, but it was important to learn how to harness my powers and how to fight...
