2. Olivia

At lunch, I go to the library- sometimes my dad gives me money to buy lunch at school. This was not one of those days. Other times he'd pack me a lunch, but I never eat it. I wouldn't trust anything he makes. My blood has been on his hands. I sit down and unload my bag, starting to draw. I see a bag of Oreos bump against my pencil. I look up and see Olivia. She smiles and sits down across from me. Her blonde hair brushes the table as she leans forward. How are you doing? Olivia was the only person who knew what went on at home. Olivia was the only person I trusted. I press my lips together and nod, avoiding her eyes. I've been good. He's....fine, just fine. She doesn't seem to believe me. I could see it in the way her light blue eyes study me. But she drops it, pushing her black frames up her nose. Okay. You want to come to my house today? We could make up stuff like you always do. I've been to Olivia's house a few times when my dad thinks I'm staying after school for extra tutoring. If he ever called the school to check on me, if he even cared about me, I would be dead. Literally. I shake my head, carefully opening the Oreos. Can't today. My dad told me to come straight home. She nods before her eyebrows crease. Wait. He's never asked that of you before. I cock my head, thinking. Once. I bite down into my Oreo. When I was eleven, when my mom died. She nods slowly. Do you want me to be there? My mouth falls open. I can handle myself Olivia. She bites her lips, heaving a sigh. Okay. But me and Kevin are here for you, okay? Just call me up. I wince at the sound of her boyfriend, but I cover it up with a nod. Thanks Liv. I give her a fake grin. She falls for it though and smiles back, getting up and leaving. The bell rings, and i shove the remaining cookies in my mouth and run out of the door.
