11. CHAPTER 11: TIME PASSES

The time leading up to Thárros went slowly, but Athena didn’t care; the wait would be so worth it.

Winter passed with chilly winds and snowy downfalls. The fire was always stoked and gave off a hot glare.

Spring left damp mildew on the meadows and brought the bird’s mellow voices whistling through the windows.

Hilary had found out about Jemeanii and after much deliberation had agreed that Athena could keep him. Although, she didn’t even seem surprised and had greeted him, each time she saw him, as an old friend. Jemeanii had been given a cage (not that he ever used it), it was for travelling purposes really.

Then there was summer; it brought heat and the classic English rain, but eventually it was the holidays and on a sunny Saturday morning in July, Athena woke up with the exciting bubble of joy in her stomach. This was it. The day she had been waiting for. It was the first day of her new life and she would soon find out what everyone had meant. Their riddles would become clear and the adventure started here.

The first day of the rest of her life.
