Too Late? - A Michael Clifford Fanfiction

Alison and Michael were best friends since pre-school. When he started the band, they started dating. But the other boys hated the idea of her being around all the time although they were happy for their band mate. On the night of Michael's seventeenth birthday, Alison was only sixteen, she gave the one thing to him she would never be able to get back and give to another human being again... Her virginity. And what did he give her? Heartbreak and a child.

After that night, the pair broke up. Michael needed to concentrate on his band. But what he never realized was the secret Alison was hiding from him. The fact that he had a son.

Was Michael right to break up with her and is he too late to show her he's here to stay for good this time?

5. Why'd You Give Him My Middle Name?

Michael's POV

I ran after Alison as she continued to walk away with Luke and Calum. Why they hell would she give Braxton my middle name? I followed her into our dressing room for the day that the radio station had said we were to use for our stay here today. Calum tapped me on the shoulder, and when I turned around, he handed the baby to me. I took Brax in my arms and smiled down at him. I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt go through me though.

"Why'd you give him my middle name?" I asked suddenly to break the awkward silence in the room. I looked at Alison and she was clearly trying to speak but couldn't get any words out. "Who's the father then? Don't I deserve to know that?" I asked again.

"Why do you need to know that, Mikey?" She snapped at me.

"Because, I never moved on from you. And I never will. But obviously you have moved on from me!" I shouted. Because of my shouting, I woke Braxton up.

"Now look what you've done!" She hissed through her teeth while taking the baby from me. I stood there, mouth open. This is not the same girl I used to love! As she rocked the baby back and forth trying to get him to stop crying she looked to me with eyes full of sadness. "Can I speak to Michael and the boys alone for a moment please?" She asked. I was curious as to why she wanted them as well as me.

Once everyone left, I spoke up. "What is it, Ally?" I asked walking over to her, while rubbing Braxton's hand soothingly.

"I have a copy of the birth certificate for you all. We're leaving for London in the morning. I just wanted you to know who the dad was before we left for good." She said while a tear left her right eye. She walked over to the pram and pulled out an envelope around an A4 sized piece of paper. "The father’s name is on this," she said handing it to me. "We'd better go now." She finished quietly.

"What? Can't we talk for a bit?" Ashton quizzed.

"Can't we find out who the father is before you go?" I asked looking down at the envelope in my hands which will give me the answers to who's the father of the love of my life's new arrival.

"You can open it once we've left." She said getting Braxton ready and putting him down in his pram. The boys stood there, not knowing what to say or do. "Oh, and Michael?" She said turning around in the doorway.

"Y-yeah?" I stuttered out as my eyes became watery. I hoped she would turn around and say 'I love you' but I knew that would never happen.

"I'm sorry." Was all she said before she turned around and closed the door, once again, the love of my life, GONE!

"Mate, open it." Calum pushed. I looked down at the certificate my hands which were trembling like crazy. I ripped open the envelope to see the baby blue certificate. I pulled it out and looked it over. Mother: Alison Green. Father: Michael Gordon Clifford. Wait, what? I can't believe I'm the dad! I looked on the back and saw a note from Ally...

'I'm really sorry, Mikey. I never meant to hurt you. So I'm going away for good. You won’t ever see me or Braxton ever again. Have a good life. I wish the best to luck to you and the boys. I know you'll all do well in your careers.

I love you Michael. I always have and always will.

~ Alison.'

I dropped the certificate from my grasp and ran out of the room. I was not letting Alison leave me again and not with my son with her either! They were going half was across the world! The boys ran after me and I got outside. Alison's mum was just reversing so I ran up and tried to stop her but she turned in a 'U' turn and drove off. I stood there on the spot, crying and screaming for her to come back.

"Mate, c'mon. She's gone now!" Calum said quietly

"No! Just no, okay? You guys lied to me for 9 months while I believed she had forgotten about me! I missed the pregnancy and birth of my own son!" I shouted as my voice cracked at the end. "I'm never ever going to forgive you guys for this." I said as I pushed past them, running my hands through my hair.
