10. May the Force be with You

Andromeda's POV

I pulled all my stuff into a single backpack. I didn't own much, as I moved around a lot. I had received a message a few hours ago that Luke Skywalker, as in the Luke Skywalker, was coming to take me to a Jedi training facility where I would finally learn to be a Jedi. Luke Skywalker was famous across many galaxies as he defeated the Empire multiple times. I couldn't wait to meet him.

I looked in the mirror and pulled my long auburn hair into a ponytail. I saw my emerald green eyes staring back at me. I grabbed the last item in my room which was a framed photo of Yoda, who used to be the best Jedi trainer around. He was also my adopted father. I still remember the story of how he found me. I remember all his stories.

It was approximately 15 years ago and Yoda was in the middle of meditation. He meditated a lot as he was pretty much the only person who lived on the planet Degoba and spent a lot of time alone. Sometimes, he would meditate for weeks on end, not even moving to eat or drink. The force was strong in him and it was what kept him alive so long. One day, he felt a disturbance in the force. He followed his instincts for a while until eventually he found a pod sinking into a muddy lake in the swamp where he lived. He easily used the force to lift it out of the muck, but the two people in the pod, presumably my parents, where already dead. However, he could still feel something. He looked around a bit longer until he found me in a small ejected pod for an emergency escape. He took me to his home and raised me like his child until I was 12.

As a kid, I was always drawn to the way he used the force, but he forbade me from becoming a Jedi because apparently it was too dangerous. Said the guy that taught people to be Jedis. I guess it's different when it's about the person you practically raised. Eventually, he found me trying to use a light saber and thought he was a bad influence. So, of course, he sent me away. I spent the next 3 years in a boarding school on Tatooine where I learned to speak English 'properly'. What's wrong with the way Yoda spoke? Before he sent me away, I stole a few of his light sabers and blasters as he had so many of them. Those weapons, the picture of Yoda and my galactic phone were practically the only non-staple items I owned.

I shook my head, trying to rid myself of the memory. Yoda had been dead for a couple years and there was nothing I could do about it. I shook my head and slung my backpack over my shoulder. I stuck my favorite light saber that I stole from Yoda in my belt. It was a deep violet color when it was switched on, and although purple wasn't my favorite color, I was drawn to this one. I had just put my hand on the doorknob when there was a knock on the door. I  opened it to see Luke Skywalker staring at me. "Are you...Andromeda?" He referred to a sheet of paper in his hands.

"Yup. That's me." He smiled at me and motioned for me to follow him. I probably had a name before this one, but I was renamed when Yoda found me because he didn't know anything about where I came from, who my parents were or my name. He named me Andromeda after his favorite star. It was one of the only ones you could see from Degoba and it burned the brightest. I didn't have a last name as I never really needed one.

I followed Luke to his pod and jumped in the backseat. "So...are there any other recruits?" I asked, making conversation.

"A girl named Ciara, a bounty hunter named Ryder-"

"Bounty hunter?!" I exclaimed. What was he doing in a Jedi training facility?

"Well, he was raised a bounty hunter but he's okay. The force is strong in him." Yeah. The dark side.

"Anyone else?"

"My sister."

"Yeah, Leia-"

"No. Her name's Lilli. She was separated from us and was raised on Earth. She's only been at the facility for two months. She's around your age, if not a bit younger." That was cool. I had no idea he had another sister. I leaned back in my seat and stared out into the sky as I watched it blur into white nothingness.
