The Search for A God

This is the story of a camerawoman, a legend-sifter, a pilot, an inventor, and a mechanic. All in a world different to our own. In this world, there are dragons living in sanctioned wildernesses, Shifters living amongst humans and amongst animals, people with Gifts since birth that let them do amazing things, people who live tied to an element, and gods that have mystified the dreams of the public's hero, an archaeologist and legend-sifter.
And these five people are about to see that these gods do exist, and all through the adventure those dreams sent them on.

(I had a dream. A lot of the things the dream this began as couldn't really be translated that well into words in a story format, so I thought, why not make this a screenplay? It might end up some amount better. I may or may not reconsider this idea.)

3. Scene III

(Cut back to the airfield, where Irene’s grey car pulls to a stop where the Lady Andrea waits, her door still open. The crowd that was there earlier has since dispersed, and in its stead, various delivery people work in bringing things into the airship, presumably the supplies that Pike had mentioned earlier. Pike gets out of the car, walks over to the driver’s window, speaking for a moment or two longer, but inaudibly, as the camera is from the perspective of Alex and Nathaniel, sitting on the back of one of the open delivery trucks, the former squinting to see Pike better, Nathaniel looking less interested in Pike’s business, but waiting for his boss to approach.)

ALEX:

Hey, Nate, what do you think he’s talking about?

(Nathaniel shrugs.)

NATHANIEL:

Don’t really know.

ALEX:

I mean, you wouldn’t really think that talking over a filming thing would be something you’d do through a car window, right? So what do you think?

NATHANIEL:

Like I said, Alex, I don’t know. I’m not exactly one to know about the nuances of that kind of thing.

(Alex sighs, exasperatedly by his companion’s repeated answer. Pike, at this point, begins walking over to his two companions, and Alex, quick to see the movement, promptly sits up and tries to look less interested in the conversation Pike was having than he was before. Nathaniel looks toward the ship and the people bustling around on and off it. Once Pike gets within earshot of the two, he speaks up.)

PIKE:

How soon before we’re ready to get going?

ALEX:

Most of the deliveries are just about done. The last comes at six tonight. Tomorrow morning, ‘bout seven should be good enough time to sleep and then get ready, right?

PIKE:

Good. That’s the time I told her to join us.

ALEX:

So it is a lady we’ll be dealing with here.

PIKE:

Yep. Irene Fancet will be joining us for the next few weeks to do her filming.

(Alex nods, pretending to have a disinterested air of curiosity about him.)

ALEX:

So, uh…what’s the deal? Are we getting paid for this?

(Pike laughs, emoting a sort of disbelief at Alex.)

PIKE:

Really? Really, you’re asking that?

(Alex shrugs.)

ALEX:

Hey, it’s a good question.

(Pike shakes his head, looking down at the ground.)

PIKE:

Unbelievable.

(Pike looks up at the sky, sighing, seeming at least slightly amused as he walks off into the airship, ignoring Alex’s following outburst.)

ALEX:

So should I take that as a yes?!
