All For Kayla

Kayla Green isn't your typical high school girl, she lived for the soul purpose of being alive. That was until one fatal day where her entire life changed drastically. She blamed herself for the accident and lost her voice in the process. Every night she was followed by the memories burned into her mind, that is until she found her escape. Caleb.
Caleb Jones, the brother of one of the people Kayla says she destroyed. Caleb aka the king of hearts was well known for his player reputation until he finds himself feeling something towards the quiet girl.
With the help of her two best friends Maddy and Stephen, can Caleb show Kayla that it wasn't her fault, can he heal the deep wound in her heart, will Kayla ever speak again? In times of darkness can two prankster and a player show Kayla the light?
After all, everything they do is all for Kayla.

4. King Of Hearts

My fists clenched and unclenched as my jaw tightened up. I could feel my heartbeat pick up as the air around thickened and starts to suffocate me. Breath Kayla, breath.

Charlotte smirked in triumph from my reaction and leaned forward, her perfectly manicured hand clutched onto my jaw forcing me to look her in the eyes. A dark smile formed on her lips and she pulled me forward with her lips to my ear.

"I am going to make you wish you died instead", she whispered low enough only for me to hear. My eyes clenched shut as I bit down the vile that was forming in the pit of my stomach. A image of bloody hands flashed before me.

"Babe, whats going on", a silky voice asked as another presence joined the show. Opening my eyes I found myself gazing at a far too similar image of someone I once knew. That persons younger brother.

The typical jock you could call him, one of the players who would leave a path of broken hearts behind in his wake. Maddy was included in that line, well sort of - before she became out in the open about being a psychotic girl that would use you as a sword to beat up a monster chicken  - well you get the idea.

Caleb Jones, the king of hearts as I called him. I saw his gaze turn to mines and a clouded expression fell on his face. Caleb had more of a reason to hate me than Charlotte yet he never acted as such.

"Oh, hey Kayla. Welcome back", the jock smiled kindly much to my surprise. This boy sure is good at covering up any sarcasm. I mean he has no reason to be kind to be, especially after what I did.

Nodding uncomfortably I sulked back into my chair and watched as Charlotte threw on the good girl act.

"It's nothing Cali, I was just welcoming Kay-Kay back! I mean I can't wait to talk to her more", the queen bee smiled, a cold glance narrowed at me.

Caleb seemed to believe her and said bye before dragging Charlotte away from me letting me breath once more.

I twiddled my thumbs about nervously as I thought about what she said, "I am going to make you wish you died instead". Why did she act so defensively, she was insane yet I know deep down it was me who made her like this.

Yeah Charlotte has always been the typical queen bee but if you stayed on her good side, she was the nicest person you knew. Now, well she is always on the bad side because I destroyed the life she had.

The bell shrilled letting us know it was the end of lunch, feeling like I had to get away before Maddy and Stephen asked too many questions I found myself in my history class waiting for Mr Phillis to come in.

I sat down in my chair with my eyes gazing outside towards the football field. It wasn't until someone sat down besides me that I was pulled from my own world, who would bother to sit beside the freak show?

Looking from the corner of my eye, found myself dumbfounded by the one and only king of hearts. Caleb smiled boyishly at me causing me to roll my eyes, six months ago a smile from him would be enough to make me pass out. Yet now all I see is that person.

"So Kayla, how have you been", Caleb asked expecting me to answer. Does no one understand I don't talk anymore?

I shrugged quietly turning my gaze towards the window again.

"I don't have practice today if you want a ride home", he continued making me raise a brow.

This boy must have something seriously wrong, for three reasons in particular;

One - he sat next to me even though there is plenty of seats in the classroom next to his friends.

Two - he was talking to me like a normal person instead of insulting me or ignoring me.

Three- he just offered to give me a ride home, when he should be asking Charlotte that.

Speaking of Charlotte I could feel her eyes burn holes into the back of my head from the back of the classroom but before she could say anything or Caleb could talk to me more, Mr Phillis entered with a surprisingly bald head.

Looks like he ditched the wig.

"Okay class, today we are - oh Kayla I didn't see you there", the old teacher grunted getting ready to grab his pink slips. Seriously? All I have done is sit down!

"So plan on stealing something from me or falling asleep in my classroom this period", Mr Phillis asked causing me to glare at him.

This man gets on my nerves, really easily.

Of course since I don't speak I didn't reply which made the dumb old man to go redder than a tomato and what else but give me that damn pink slip and a detention. What I didn't expect was for Caleb to shout at the teacher saying I did nothing wrong, thus earning him a detention as well.

"Wait up Kayla, I'm coming with you", Caleb called as I stormed out the class to the principles office.

Shrugging I slowed down a little for him to catch up with earned me a grin over his face. How can people get so happy over such a small thing?

"I forgot to ask you something in class anyways", the player continued causing me to look at him like a delusional person. He wouldn't ask me that would he?

"Do you want to go on a date on Saturday", apparently he would.
