All For Kayla

Kayla Green isn't your typical high school girl, she lived for the soul purpose of being alive. That was until one fatal day where her entire life changed drastically. She blamed herself for the accident and lost her voice in the process. Every night she was followed by the memories burned into her mind, that is until she found her escape. Caleb.
Caleb Jones, the brother of one of the people Kayla says she destroyed. Caleb aka the king of hearts was well known for his player reputation until he finds himself feeling something towards the quiet girl.
With the help of her two best friends Maddy and Stephen, can Caleb show Kayla that it wasn't her fault, can he heal the deep wound in her heart, will Kayla ever speak again? In times of darkness can two prankster and a player show Kayla the light?
After all, everything they do is all for Kayla.

10. Alone

After a week of being stuck in the hospital I was finally free. My brother didn't come to visit me once, Maddy and Stephen came one day but got kicked out, yes they got kicked out of a hospital. In the hospital's defense, they tried to kidnap a old woman, went wheelchair racing, Maddy stabbed a nurse in the butt with a needle and Stephen sneaked into the new babies room. Did I ever mention they are both completely and utterly insane?

As for Caleb, well after that night he didn't come back. So to say I was shocked when he showed up at the main entrance of the hospital with a bunch a lilies would be an understatement. This however was not the thing that gave me the biggest surprise.

Just when I was about to step out of the hospital something hit my foot. In a plastic ball was Hamish. Now what I have to know is, how the heck did the little guy get from my house to the hospital which is a twenty minute drive away.

"Uh I was taking care of him but left him at the house", Caleb said making my jaw drop. It would seem like he had rolled in his little ball all the way from my house to the hospital.

Leaning down I picked him up and looked at the fuzzy cuteness. Shaking my head a little I walked outside for the first time in a week, the sky was heavy with rain clouds and a little bit of rain was starting to fall.

Caleb grabbed my hand and lead me to his car. The drive to my house was quiet, Hamish curled up in his little ball and rain pattered against the car windows. When we came to a stop outside my house I saw the lights on shinning through the window. Looks like Kane is home.

"Listen Kayla, Kane he has been drinking lately", Caleb said quietly. I sighed, the truth is my brother is always drinking. Sometimes he would drink more than he should. Only Stephen and I knew this though. Even Maddy didn't know.

Leaning over, I kissed Caleb on the cheek before grabbing the lilies he gave me and running over to my front door. Turning around I waved goodbye before heading into the house, a sour smell filled the air and I knew right away he was going to be drunk.

Taking a deep breath I walked into the living room where my brother sat on the couch surrounded by a pile of bottles. He looked over at me with a cold stare making me blink back, the last time I saw him like this after the accident.

Kane just stared at me before taking another swig of the bottle, the last time he was like this I got pretty scared from the silence. He shuts himself away at times like this, once again I caused someone pain.

"Kayla, I miss them so much", my brother slurred and I knew who he was talking about. Our parents.

Looking down I could feel the tears prick at my eyes. It was all my fault they were gone, if I had stopped it, if I didn't lift that damn knife.

"It's because of you they are gone you know, you were the one who let them die", Kane spoke more bitterly, his words slurring out but I already knew the truth. Hearing it from my own brother though was painful. Kane stood up slowly, his body swaying a little. The loving brother wasn't exactly here anymore. Sometimes I would see him, or he would be still a brother but sometimes he got angry and spoke what he really felt.

"You don't deserve to be happy, you know that right? You understand that it is because of you we have no parents, that Caleb lost his brother. You are the one to blame", I could feel a tear trickle down my cheek. All I could do is nod, my brother scoffed now standing right in front of me.

"I hate you Kayla, I hate you for breaking our family apart", Kane spat before barging past me. He stormed up the stairs and into his room.

Feeling the guilt eat at me again I ran up to my own room and closed my door. Sliding down to the floor I broke down into tears, he finally told me how he felt. He finally admitted that he hated me. It was all my fault that he is like this, I have done nothing but caused everyone around me pain.

I cried for hours until I was dry, my body shook but no noise came out. The silence in the house was broken when Stephen climbed through my window, when he saw the state I was in he ran over to me and wrapped his arms around me.

Stephen said nothing because he already knew what happened, he already knew Kane was drunk. After that day their relationship became rougher but he still stayed with Kane in hopes he would go back to normal but deep down we both knew it would never be the same.

"Come on Kay, let's go and talk to him", Stephen whispered taking my hand and helping me up. I had to see my brother, I needed him even if he hates me.

We walked down the landing to his bedroom and knocked. No answer.

A familiar feeling twisted in my stomach and I wearily pushed open my brothers door. I saw it, the pills scattered across the floor with empty cans and bottles along with them. Kane laying limp on the bed with his mouth open. Kane.

I ran over to my brother to find no heartbeat or breath, Stephen was screaming down his phone for an ambulance. A ambulance is useless now. I shook my brother wanting him to wake up, I slapped his face, silently screamed his name but his eyes would never open.

The door burst open revealing two paramedics and a stretcher but the look on their faces confirmed it.

"I'm sorry", one of the medics whispered as I fell down frozen. I couldn't think, I couldn't hear the words they were saying.

It was happening all over again, all because of me. All my fault, my brothers last words to me ringing in my ears, "I hate you Kayla, I hate you for breaking our family apart", all my fault.

Kane, please don't leave me alone.
