"I wasn't asking about you." I screamed at him.
"oh yeah, not what I heard."
"well trust me, I wouldn't make my life revolve around some stupid, arrogant, manwhore anyways." I felt the rage inside of me with that last sentence.
I walked away with my head held high, no regrets, nothing. It felt like a ton of brick had been lifted off my shoulders, I had relief from him.
He ran up and grabbed my arm tightly, I tried to jerk away but his grip only got tighter. "Let go of me I'm going home!" "No you're not!" and with that, everything went black.

27. Chapter 26

I stormed past Ryan who I think wanted a hug, but I was to pissed to give a rats ass. I kept walking. I don't know where I was walking, all I know is I was. I just kept walking. I walked all the way to the road Justin drove us on to get us here. I began walking home. I didn't want to be around those kinds of people or Justin acting like that. So, I just kept walking.

Cars zoomed by, some honked horns others just sped. There was a gas station coming up on my right, maybe they have a pay phone. I crossed the street and slid on my heels in order to go inside. There was an older man working behind the counter.

"Hello sir, do you have a pay phone by chance?" I asked him. He looked up a smiled, not a creepy smile, but like a grandpa smile. One that lets you know your comfortable and that they care.

"Sorry honey, we haven't had those since the 80's. But you can use my cell if got service out here my dear." he reached in his pocket and pulled out a thick flip phone. You could barely see the numbers on the keyboard.

"There isn't any service in here, can I step outside?"

"Surely." he smiled then continued reading his newspaper.

I opened the door which ding. I began dialing my house number in case my grandma was home. It rang and rang and rang. I hung up. I was walking around the pumps, which consisted of two. I could hear an engine roaring down the road. It sounded like a muscle car that was coming up fast. I just stood still, I didn't move.

The car drove by the gas station, stopped, then began backing up and pulled into the gas station. I knew this car. I began walking back towards the man inside. Until another car pulled in to the gas station. I was stuck between the two.

Ryan jumped out of the car in front of me and Justin came out of the one behind me.

"What the fuck?!" Justin came charging over towards me.

"What?!" I yelled at him

"You think you can just fucking leave? You think you can just prance around dressed like that and not ask for trouble?!"

"I don't NEED your help." I yelled at him, turning around to go back to the man inside the gas station. Ryan blocked me. "Seriously? Your supporting him?" Ryan shrugged his shoulders. "You've got his shit on your nose." I pushed my way past him, he grabbed me wrist.

"He means well, trust me. I wouldn't support him otherwise. He just has..." Ryan was searching for the word in his mind, "anger issues..."

"Clearly." I pulled my wrist out, or at least tried, "Dude! Let the fuck go, I'm giving he man his phone back." Ryan let me hand go.

I walked back inside, I could hear Justin yelling at Ryan. I gave the man his phone back.

"You know those boys?" he looked at me, protectively.

"Sadly." I sighed, then flashed him a smile.

"You seem to nice for them." he lifted an eyebrow

"Life doesn't let you choose who you meet."

"But YOU get to choose who to keep." he smiled, a nice, reassuring smile.
