His Sword and His Shield

Ciel Phantomhive and his faithful butler, Sebastian Michaelis, have just stumbled across the greatest thing they could ever hope to find; Cecelia is a young Wolf demon who has lost all her memories except for a select few. For example, she knows her last name starts with a "D" and that she is an expert swordsman. When Ciel takes her on as his new bodyguard, things quickly escalate into the greatest mystery anyone could have imagined. All leading up to the biggest question of them all: WHO is Cecelia D?

6. His Bodyguard, Healing

"Finni," Cecelia rushed to the young boy's side, inspecting the wound on the side of his head, "Are you all right?"

"Cece," he smiled weakly, "you're okay!"

"Yeah, but you're going to be bed ridden for a few days," she hurriedly took her handkerchief from her bag and gently pressed it to his forehead, "Don't worry, Finni, I won't leave your side until you're better."

"But the Young Master-"

"Can handle himself," she smiled, "besides, he has Sebastian! I think he's in perfect hands."

"You flatter me, Cecelia," she glanced over at the tall butler as he and Ciel joined them, "If I am as great as you say, then would I not be the bodyguard and YOU the butler?"

The Wolf simply smiled and glanced at her master, "I'd like your permission-"

"This is an order, Cecelia," Ciel said in a commanding voice, "Stay beside Finni! I want you to nurse him back to full health. Is that understood?"

Getting to her feet, the she-Demon faced the young child.

She bent to one knee, the way Sebastian did, "Yes, my lord."

"Oi," everyone turned to see Bard and May-Rinn, "You lot all right?"

"Everyone but Finni," Ciel answered, "Where's Tanaka?"

"He's cleaning the front hall," the maid answered, "the intruder broke in through the window. There's quite a bit of glass."

"Did you see who it was," Sebastian asked, "did they take anything?"

"Only a photograph," Bard nodded, "and we were outside when it happened. We came rushing out after we heard Finni cry out. Then we heard the glass shatter."

"But by the time we got back inside, the person was already gone," May-Rinn finished, "along with the photograph!"

"Which photograph is missing?"

The two looked at each other, unsure of what to do.

"Which picture?!"

Bard took a deep breath, "Cecelia's."

The two Demons gave each other a confused glance. Who would want a picture of Cecelia? And why?

"Come now, Finni," Cecelia said sternly, "You are in no condition to be out of bed yet."

The blonde continued to try and escape her firm, yet gentle, grasp. It had been a week since the break in. Finni was healing well, but he continuously complained about swaying rooms and the urge to hurl. Cecelia wondered if she should call a doctor; perhaps Finni had a concussion. If so, he needed a professional to care for him. Bard and May-Rinn visited often, as did Sebastian. However, Tanaka and Ciel kept themselves far too busy; searching for the intruder and information on this Raul character.

Raul. Ceceia could not stop thinking of him. Who was he to her? What was she to him? From the way Claude made it sound, they were pretty important to each other. Ciel had ordered her to stay away from the Trancy estate; however, the curiosity ate her away.

"Cece," she glanced up as Finni fell back onto the pillow, "Cece..."

Moving quickly, she felt his head only to yank her hand away from the flames that met it. She gazed at each of his eyes, shocked as she noticed the veins begin to urn deep purple. His breathing became troubled and he fought for air.

"Sebastian," she screamed, "Sebastian! Help me!"

He was then at her side, repeating the observations she had just performed. His face became dark as he gazed at her.

"He's been cursed by a Demon."

"What," she gazed up in horror, "You're telling me it was a Demon that stole my picture?"

"And attacked Finni," the butler nodded, "I'm quite sure it was another Wolf Demon that injected him with the poison. He wasn't hit upside the head, he was lightly bitten. Just enough for the poison to inject itself."

"So how do we cure him?"

"I cannot. but YOU can!"

Cecelia gazed at Sebastian, not sure of what he meant.

"If this Wolf bit Finni, then the only thing that can cure him is the bite of another Wolf. It'd be the same situation if it was a Raven that had attacked him. Cecelia, you must bite him with the fangs of your true self. It is the only way to save him."

She shook violently; she didn't even remember how to change into her Demon form. What if she failed? What if it didn't work? What if Sebastian was wrong about the Demon breed?

She took a deep breath and forced the boy's eyes shut. She did not want him to see her in such a hideous state.

"Sebastian," she snarled, already feeling her fangs begin to grow, "be sure nobody comes in until I am finished."

"And," she paused, "would you please step outside as well? I do not remember my true form. If it is truly hideous, I do not wish for you to see it. It would shame me."

The tall man sighed, took off his tie, tied it around Finni's eyes, and then turned to leave.

"Cecelia," she glared up at him, "Unlike my breed, Wolves are said to be beautiful even in their true forms. And...if you are this beautiful as a human...I'm sure you'd be a gorgeous Wolf."

The she-Demon felt her cheeks catch fire as he left the room. After a while, she began to feel her fur grow.

Turning back to Finni, she rolled up his sleeve to reveal a series of needle marks. Her bite would easily be concealed from the boy.

She smiled as she heard Sebastian cautiously open the door, "Curious bastard."

The butler watched in fascination as a great, black animal appeared before him and bore down upon the injured boy in the bed.
