He's A Rockstar... She Doesn't Care

Ashley Walker, heartthrob, heartbreaker and popular rockstar thought he always gets what he wants... But winning Paige Bennington's heart was not easy.

Ashley had been very busy the whole week for gigs in Castlelea, Fallash, Deepwald and Falcon Keep. This prevented him from seeing Paige in the evenings, but they always go lunch together, then he'd drop her off at her apartment and he and the guys would then leave for their gigs. He missed her a lot in just three days of only spending an hour each with her. When he and the guys drove back home arriving at one in the morning, Paige was already asleep. If only he could climb into her room and kiss her good night. Friday evening, Paige and Caleb both drove home to Falcon Keep. Ashley asked her to watch their gig, but she declined.

"I really love to watch your gig Ashley, but I don't want to be that girl waiting for the man on the stage. If something's coming out in this friendship we have, I don't want it to be like the girls you had. I want to have my own story, my own issue. I want to be that mystery girl." She had told him.

Ashley laughed at this. "I like what's going on in your head," he'd replied. "You think of so many different things! And I like it. So will I see you tomorrow?"

She nodded her head. "Yes,"

"I'll come pick you up before lunch," he told her and kissed her on the nose.

"I'll wait for you."

So there he was, driving into Cotton Woods in Falcon Keep where the Bennington lives. Cotton Woods, was on the border of Falcon Keep and Castlelea so it was just twenty minutes drive from Ashley's place. It was called Cotton Woods, because the trees in the place were all cotton lining up the road and even stretching into the forest. Ashley knows the place too well as he had been dropping Mrs. Adlers at her house when she didn't brought her car. Ashley parked in front of the Bennington's across Mrs. Adler's place then he hopped out of his car, walked on the pebbled pathway lying on the bermuda grass leading to the front door of the huge house. He pressed the doorbell.

"Walk- Ashley!" Paige, wearing a tattered jeans, paired with a pink shirt and pink flip flops, beamed widely at him and opened her arms for a hug.

Ashley leaned down to accept the gesture then kissed her on the cheek. "You ready to go?"

"Yes, but before anything else I'd like you to meet my family first." She took his hands then closed the door, and they walked into a long hallway that lead towards the back of the house. Five people were sitting on an outdoor diner, Caleb was one of them, who grinned when he saw Ashley. "Mom, dad" Paige spoke as they stopped by the table next to their father. "I'd like you all to meet Ashley Walker. Ashley, meet my father Paul, my mother Catherine, my brother Parker and his twin my sister Camryn."

"Hello sir," Ashley shook hands with Paige's father, then her mother, "Ma'am" then to the twins Parker and Camryn.

"So you're the guy responsible for making our little girl smile once more," Mr. Bennington spoke.

"I think so," Ashley replied unsure what he meant.

"You're right Camryn, he's a handsome guy," Mrs. Bennington nodded at Camryn, who was as gorgeous as Paige, She had long blonde-brown hair with light blue eyes.

"I told you," Camryn said.

Ashley could feel his cheeks turning red. Had Paige been telling them about him?

"So where are you taking our little girl?" Mr. Bennington asked.

It was supposed to be a surprise but he's got to tell them. "Me and my band will be having a recording today for some new songs we've composed two months ago. My best friend Raymond's father owns a recording studio so that's where we do our recordings."

"You guys got a new album to release?" Paul asked who looked like Caleb.

Ashley wondered if they had their twins right, because the two guys looked more alike same with the two girls. "We aren't releasing yet until we compose five more songs."

"That's really nice what you guys are doing," Mrs. Bennington said. "Just don't do drugs and suicide. You can't regret the latter."

"Mom!" the siblings chorused.

"Sorry," Mrs. Bennington said. "There are rockstars in our times who committed suicide-"

"I don't think he's capable of doing that sweetheart," Mr. Bennington assured his wife.

"I'm not into drugs and suicide," Ashley spoke just to make things clear. He didn't want to ruin his relationship with Paige with her parents telling her not to see him. "And I don't smoke, if that even matters."

"Good to hear that," Mr. Bennington clapped his hands together. "And never plan of smoking, it's really bad for your health. I have been trying all my life to stop but I can't."

"I think we should let them go now," Caleb spoke, Ashley was thankful.

"Alright you too," Mr. Bennington said. "Go ahead and have fun. Ashton-"

"It's Ashley dad," Paige corrected.

"Sorry, Ashley, bring back my daughter in one piece."

"She's safe with me sir," Ashley told him.

Paige kissed her father and mother on the cheek then waved goodbye to her siblings.

"Sweetheart bring a condom!" Mrs. Bennington called as they entered back into the house with Paige pulling him and walking away as quickly as possible.

"I am so sorry about that," Paige apologize once they were in his car.

Ashley laughed. "Nothing to be sorry of. They are funny, I like them. It's really nice to have a big family."

"I know," Paige answered. "My parents had never been strict on any of us, so it's really hard to go into that 'teens-gone-bad' type. They are very supportive on whatever activities me and my siblings have, but of course if we committed something that's unforgivable there's always a punishment waiting."

"I don't think we will be doing something unforgivable after that skydiving." Ashley replied and started for the road.

"You're not telling me that we aren't doing it again right?" she looked at him worriedly.

"Your father didn't want you to go skydiving," he reminded her.

She sighed. "That's because of what happened to Camryn ages ago. She was only sixteen when she had the accident. Mom and dad were skydivers, so they introduced Parker and Camryn as early as fourteen years old. They'd been into skydiving course, and had it as summer training. The two of them were really good at it. Then that day happened, it was the end of summer and Inor International Airport always has this huge sky diving activity as closing for the season where hundreds of skydivers attend."

"I've watched that every year."

"Anyway, Camryn took her dive. When it was time to deploy her parachute it didn't came out. Good thing their instructor saw her, and he dived for her saving her minutes into her death. My parents were devastated about it, Camryn was in shock and had to go for therapy. Mom and dad never skydive after that, my brothers well, they always do whatever they can to jump out of a plane."

"I could just imagine the fear Camryn experienced." Ashley said. They just entered Castlelea border.

"I know. But I don't understand why I am the only one who isn't allowed to go skydiving." She said confused. "Caleb skydived when he was sixteen, he went with Parker."

"Your dad just didn't want the same thing to happen to you."

"Well what makes him think it won't happen to Parker or Caleb?"

"There are things parents do that we don't understand Paige,"

She was silent. "But we're still going skydiving."

Ashley sighed. Her parents had showed him trust, and he didn't want to break that by taking their daughter diving out into space. "I'm not promising you for another skydiving session. But I'm taking you on a bodyflight practice and virtual parachute simulators which the Hunters have."

"That will do," she smiled at him.

"I was wondering what your father said about me making you smile," Ashley asked later that afternoon at the Webber's activity basement, when Raymond and Isaac went to get some food at the kitchen.

They finished their recording thirty minutes ago, and Ashley was glad Paige enjoyed it.

She was sitting on the couch, her back leaning on the hand rest and her legs resting on the other. They were watching NatGeo. Her eyes were focused on the screen.

"Earth to Paige!" Ashley sat on the other edge of the sofa near Paige and shook her knee.

"Yeah?" she looked at him.

He repeated his question.

Paige opened her mouth and shut it again.

"Alright I'm not forcing you if you don't want to talk about it."

"You have the right to know," she sighed. "Well you're not supposed to, but dad had said unintentionally-"

"Paige," he cut her off. "Just tell me."

"It's about my ex-boyfriend,"

Matthew Adlers.

"What about him?" he asked thoughtful.

She sat up straight and leaned her back against the headrest. "I dated this guy back in high school I was a freshman he was a junior. We were serious, he was my first love and I was his. We dated for two years... then when he was about to graduate in high school..." she gulped. "He asked me to have sex with him, I refused, I wasn't ready. I was only turning sixteen that time and I was scared. He said that sex was essential to keep our relationship stronger, but I wasn't ready. He let it pass, he went to college abroad, we had communication for six months, then later on he just stopped. I never saw him again, and didn't bother to ask his mother from across the street, the old woman hates me. She thinks I drove Matthew away, she didn't know what happened to us then. Maybe if I told her the truth why he left for college she wouldn't have accused me of breaking his heart."

"What was his reason to study abroad?" he asked.

"Being the youngest of six kids, Matt was always pampered, always the baby, always has to be around mom. He didn't like it, so he applied for a scholarship in Brunders University, perfected the exam and so he left."

"Wow. Until now his mother doesn't know?"

"Nope. And now that you know, I don't want you to tell her about it. It'll break her heart."

She still cares for him, Ashley thought silently. "How do you know I know his mother?"

She rolled her eyes. "When your father hired Mrs. Adlers to be your cook, she told her family about it, me and my siblings were over at their place that time to play." So she knows him too well, except that he wasn't a heartbreaker which she already had in mind just like everyone else.

"Oh," he nodded his head. "So, you just withdraw from the world when he stopped communicating with you?"

She was silent but eventually spoke. "When me and my family went on a cruise two years ago, Matthew was on the same cruise too."

"So you and him got a chance to talk about what happened?"

"He got a girlfriend."

Ashley reached out for her hand as a tear formed on the corner of her eye and slid down her cheek. "I'm sorry Paige. I didn't thought it was that bad, I'm sorry to for asking-"

"It's okay," she said in a whisper wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. "My family were the only one who knows what happened, I've never told anyone not even my friends, until you. Dad wasn't supposed to, but it's the first time in two years that I went out to socialize... I found it hard to believe when you said you wanted to get to know me and be my friend. I thought it was time to move on and leave my past behind and get back to a normal life."

Without realizing it, Ashley knelt between Paige's knees took her into his arms for a warm hug. It was an honor to be the first person Paige had ever spoken about her past. If it took her time to let out what was killing her inside, then he made sure that no one will ever hurt her again, not even him. He couldn't imagine how Matthew could be such an asshole for hurting someone as precious as Paige. Ashley and Matthew weren't that close, but whenever the Walker's had a family activity at their mansion, the Adlers were always invited. The two of them had spoken a few times and Matthew was a nice guy. He even mentioned about falling in love as the most wonderful thing in the world, Ashley just never knew he was already talking about Paige that time.
