The Woman Who Won His Heart

Paul Gabriel Black had just moved to Cania, for his new job as Events Director for Defence and Safety in Paire Amster Events. Leaving his girlfriend back home in Mirinthul, who refused his offer of joining him in Lightham and start a new life together, he was determined to persuade her to come and lay out all the reasons in the world that they'd both work out alright.

Scarlett Lee Ryder, researcher for Paire Amster Events had a principle in life: never get into a relationship with colleagues. She was doing just fine for three years with the company, until this new guy suddenly shows her interest.

Paul didn't want to lose his girlfriend, but it was out of his hand if she won't do anything to help their relationship. There are other women in Lightham anyway, and most Paire Amster female specie are obviously dropping hints of liking him, except for Scarlett Lee Ryder

"Hey, we've got fifty hot guys who wants to add you as friend," Paul called to Lee three nights later. They went to Lee's place after dinner with Ethan and Kassidy.

"Fifty in just three days," Lee spoke emerging from her bedroom. She wore a black colored men's boxer shorts paired with an extra large sized shirt. "That's a lot."

"Of course it's a lot, check out the profile picture you have," Paul said grinning at her as she leaned and waited for the profile page to come to view.

"Paul!" she exclaimed. The picture was taken when they went swimming over the weekend, because she had the same bikini's on and she really had that strong feeling about it. On the picture, she was standing looking out at the beach, with the sunset at her back ground. "Who took this?"

"Me of course!"

"Why?" she asked looking at Paul who was sitting on the office chair.

"Well I promised to make you an account on a dating website, and I needed a picture of you. I was sure that you don't want me to have your sexy pics so I decided to capture one myself." Paul winked at her. "Come sit here and accept all these friend request, I'm going to go for a shower. I'll be back soon."

Lee shook her head smiling. "I can't believe this!"

As Paul went to his place, Lee accepted all friend request. Then there came a personal message from Jon2026.

Jon2026: Hi

"Should I reply to this?!" she asked herself staring at the screen.

Jon2026: Hi are you there

Lee was about to reply, when a few more message box came popping up. "Holy crap! How the hell am I supposed to chat with all these guys?!" a few more popped up. Sighing she stood up and went to the kitchen to get a glass of strawberry juice. She went back to her library and sat down on the chair staring at the monitor. She heard the door open.

"What's going on Lee?" Paul asked joining her. He was wearing a faded pants and a thin black shirt.

"Well everyone likes to chat." She answered.

"Then chat with them," Paul said looking at her.

"I'm not in the mood to chat with these guys," she answered.

He nodded his head. "Alright. You will still see their messages on your inbox. So what do you want to do tonight?" he sat on a sofa by the window of the library.

"How is your girlfriend?" she asked.

"You don't want to chat with them because you want to interrogate me with my personal life." He was smiling.

Lee shrugged. "I was just asking. You can answer if you want. And all this dating site thing is new to me so it may take days before I even talk to any of these men."

Paul laughed. "I can chat for you if you want."

"Be my guest," she stood up from where she sat and  sat down on the other end of the sofa then position herself facing Paul.

"We broke up," Paul said.

She raised an eyebrow. "Seriously?"

"Yeah, seriously."

"Nine months ago."

Lee threw a hand on her mouth and shook her head her eyes wide. "Oh, I'm so sorry Paul."

He smiled. "Hey, it's fine. I'm fine."

"Are you? Do you need something to drink?"

Paul laughed once more. "Hey calm down. I'm fine really."

"Alright but do you need anything to drink?"

"Maybe later," he answered.

"You broke up with her?"

"But why?"

He sighed. "I caught her sleeping with another man."

Lee raised an eyebrow. "Wait. How did you caught her sleeping with another man when you are here in Cania?"

"I took a leave after MAGDO. I decided to surprise her so I didn't tell her that I was coming home. I went to her apartment, she always has this spare key for me under a brick by the front door. So I went in the house and saw her having sex with the guy."

Without a word, Lee went to his side and embraced him tightly. "Paul I am so sorry to hear that."

Paul embraced her back. "I'm fine, I've gotten over her Lee."

Lee pulled away from him. "But how will you ever get over someone you had been in love with for four years?"

"She cheated on me, that's good enough to get over with."

Lee shook her head in disbelief. "Long distance relationships never work out at all."

"That depends on the maturity of the people involved. In my case, I did my best to convince her to live here with me, she chose not to. Our relationship was dying and I refused to accept it. Too bad I have to find out the hard way."

"I'm so sorry,"

"Stop saying that," Paul laughed at her.

"So do you still want to get into a relationship after what happened?" she asked curious.

"Of course. I'm a romantic Lee. I love taking care of my woman, giving her surprises, taking her on vacations. I make her my trophy."

Lee shook her head sadly. "She must have realized what an idiot she is for cheating on you."

Paul nodded his head. "I think she does. I checked my personal email yesterday and found I've got a hundred emails from her. Subjects are: I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you, Please take me back and other stuff."

"Then why not get back with her?"

"If you caught your boyfriend cheating on you, will you still have the heart to forgive him? Not only caught like dating, but caught like having sex."

Lee paused for a moment. He's got a point. She shook her head and said, "I don't think so. But if he is sincere and if I still love him and he still feels the same then maybe I'm going to give him a second chance."

"You're a very kind girl. But I hope you won't do just what you said now. The guy will have the chance of repeating his mistakes. As for me, I am a loyal man. I don't have the intentions to cheat on my girl. What purpose is working out a relationship when you have plans of cheating."

"Don't say that, maybe one day it's your turn to cheat."

Paul leaned near her so their face were inches apart. "You don't know me."

She smiled at him. "Well I'm glad there's someone like you."

"So when are you going to start chatting?" Paul changed the subject.

"I will chat when I want to," she answered moving away from him.

"How will you find a boyfriend if you aren't gonna start flirting?"

Lee laughed. "Funny how you put it that way!"

"Well, you have to flirt to get a boyfriend. Look at Kevin and Penelope. They flirted for a night and now they are officially dating."

"The thing is Paul, I am tired of that getting to know stage. If I want to have a boyfriend or someone to spend the rest of my life with, it's much better if he was my friend first. So there won't be awkwardness, no getting to know you's. I'm not a teenager anymore, I don't find the getting to know stage interesting at all."

Paul crossed his arms across his chest. "Good luck, you will never get yourself a date with that attitude of yours."

Lee laughed once more. "I am contented of being alone, thank you very much."

"It's nicer to have someone beside you while you journey with life." Paul said with a smile.

"Then I have to wait,"

"You have to move to make your destiny Lee!"

"You are a romantic!" Lee laughed shaking her head. "I'll go on a date okay. But you have to chat with them."

"I'm fine with that!"

"But you will only chat with me beside you! I don't want you to do some dirty talks."

"I'd like to try that with them!"

The two of them laughed.
