The Woman Who Won His Heart

Paul Gabriel Black had just moved to Cania, for his new job as Events Director for Defence and Safety in Paire Amster Events. Leaving his girlfriend back home in Mirinthul, who refused his offer of joining him in Lightham and start a new life together, he was determined to persuade her to come and lay out all the reasons in the world that they'd both work out alright.

Scarlett Lee Ryder, researcher for Paire Amster Events had a principle in life: never get into a relationship with colleagues. She was doing just fine for three years with the company, until this new guy suddenly shows her interest.

Paul didn't want to lose his girlfriend, but it was out of his hand if she won't do anything to help their relationship. There are other women in Lightham anyway, and most Paire Amster female specie are obviously dropping hints of liking him, except for Scarlett Lee Ryder

"You should come to Lorwick next month Paul," Mr. Ryder said late that night after having a mouthwatering dinner. The men were having whiskey, while the women had red wine.

"Yes of course, I'd love to visit you guys." Paul said.

"Dad he doesn't have to," Lee interrupted. It was enough that they met Paul, and this gathering should end here.

"Don't be rude sis," King spoke beside her.

"It's her birthday next month, and it would be nice to have you and her team at the house." Mrs. Ryder said with a smile.

Lee shook her head.

"Really?" Paul asked interested. "Which date is that?"

"Tenth of next month," Jared said.

"Hey! That's my birthday too!" Paul announced.

Lee stared at him. He's got to be kidding right?!

"It will be fun sis!" Charity told her.

Lee sat silent, blushing. It's just so embarrassing! She was sitting between King and Jared. Jared kissed her forehead and King embraced her.

"It will be fun sis," Jared said.

"Yeah," King agreed. "We love Paul, you know!"

She sighed, looked up and caught Paul staring at her. He smiled. She smiled back.

"It's almost twelve everyone," Mr. Ryder clapped his hands.

Everyone said yeah and stood up getting ready to leave.

"Lorwick is a long way mom," Lee said concerned that her father has got to drive late.

"We're booked in a hotel sweetheart don't worry. We're leaving in the afternoon tomorrow." her mother said and embraced her. "It's really nice to see you."

Lee embraced her mother back. "Nice to see you too mom. Thank you for the food." She now got a lot of left overs which she will be taking with her on her way to Glassbarrow tomorrow.

"You take care sweetheart," her father kissed her forehead.

"I will dad," she answered and embraced him.

"You take care of her for us Paul," her father told Paul.

"I will sir," Paul answered.

Her brothers took turns embracing her, Charity kissed her on the cheek and whispered, "He's hot! Lucky you to have him as your neighbor!"

Lee laughed instead of getting irritated. "I miss you too Charity," the two of them embraced each other and she and Paul walked them down the lobby to watch her family leave.

Sighing in relief she looked up at Paul who's got a smile on his face. "What's the smile all about?" she asked.

"You have a very nice family," he answered.

"I know, but I hate how they worry too much about my love life. Like they get affected by it."

Paul threw an arm around her. "Let's get back up now. I am so tipsy and sleepy."

Lee nodded her head and they walked back towards the elevator. When they reached their floor, Paul waked her to her door. "What time are we leaving tomorrow morning?" he asked.

"Mid day is fine or early morning. Whatever works," she answered.

Paul nodded his head then kissed her cheek.

Lee stood still. "You don't have to be over protective with me Paul."

He shrugged and walked towards his door. "Well, I like to kiss you."

That feeling she felt at the beach while she was embracing Paul came once more. "Good night Paul,"

"Good night Scarlett,"

She quickly locked the door behind her and closed her eyes in relief. She didn't like the way Paul just acted. Hanging out with Paul almost everyday had set her into something else. She's used to hanging out with men, but she's feeling something for Paul. She doesn't know if her feelings developed right after what happened at the beach, but it was a feeling where she's always happy to be with him and expects to see him everyday.

She's an early riser, and she goes to the office an hour earlier than regular timings. Paul on the other hand always came on time. He told her to ride with him to and from the office but she refused because she loves taking the bus and using her skateboard. If she had agreed to hitching a ride with Paul everyday, she's sure right now she's already in love with him.

"What time will you guys be here?" Lee asked Ethan over the phone. She and Paul were having coffee that afternoon on the coffee shop by the beach of Glassbarrow.

"In thirty minutes," Ethan answered. "How is your day by the way?"

"Great," answered Lee.

"Enjoying with Paul?"

Lee rolled her eyes. "Just come already Ethan,"

Ethan laughed. "See you in a bit."

"What are you blushing for?" asked Paul when Lee placed her phone on the table.

"Nothing," she shook her head. "Probably because of the heat."

Paul laughed. "You want to check your account?" he asked.

"Which account?" Lee asked confused.

"The dating site. We downloaded the application on your phone remember."

"Oh yeah, how could I forget,"

Paul sipped his coffee. "You really aren't interested with the dating site aren't you."

"Finally you noticed," she smiled at him and logged in to her account. The message tone came as she was finally singed in.

"Wow, you've got a lot in there," Paul moved his chair beside her and peered on her phone.

Lee scrolled her inbox, fifteen messages. "This Jonathan guy is handsome," she said. She read his message aloud for Paul to hear. "Beautiful Lee, I am so glad you agree to meeting me in the next few days. I am looking forward to having a wonderful time with you. You are such a beauty and I can't wait to see you in person. Jonathan."

Paul nudge her shoulder. "See, all you have to do is join a dating site and viola you get lots of men wanting to date you!"

"Yeah, don't forget the profile picture,"

He grinned at her. "Well, it's a nice picture."

"I feel like they only want to date me to have sex." She checked another message, from Tom.

"Don't you like to have sex?" Paul asked her.

"I can masturbate whenever I want Paul, so sex isn't a problem with me. Imagine me being single for almost five years." said Lee. "Check out Tom. Dear Scarlett, I saw you picture and you really turn me on. You're one hot woman. I wish to go on a date with you that is if you're comfortable with a handsome guy like me. Please say yes. Tom."

Paul shook his head and grinned.

"So these men knows how handsome they are," said Lee shaking her head. "The nerve! Can't believe it."

"Let me read Fred," Paul offered.

"You can read everything aloud," Lee handed him her phone and she sipped her coffee.

"Hello sexy! Just dropping by to show you some love. Chat with me soon. Fred."

Lee sighed. "Do these men even have girlfriends?"

"I don't know. If they do they wouldn't join this dating site." answered Paul. "Dearest Scarlett, the first time I saw you I honestly couldn't stop thinking about you. I admit I am attracted to you. I hope to talk to you soon. Trent."

"They're probably lying. It's easier to get laid by meeting someone over the internet." Lee's eyes rested towards the beach.

"That is if you allow to get laid," answered Paul. "Always remember the decision always is with you."

Lee nodded her head. "Alright I will keep that in mind."

After Paul read the rest of the mails, they already emptied their cups. They ordered one more round cappuccino and waited for Ethan and Kassidy. Paul's phone rang, his eyebrows arched.

"What's wrong?" Lee asked him.

"Nothing," replied Paul. "Hello... I'm very good thanks..."

Lee watched him. He wasn't friendly over the person at the other end of the line, she wondered who the caller was.

"What?... No, don't bother... Well I really don't care if you're here... It's over Jewel." Paul's face turned red, there was anger in his eyes when the call ended.

Lee placed her hand on his shoulder. "Is everything okay Paul?"

"My ex girlfriend is here." He said in a bored tone. "She passed by us."

Lee didn't know what to say, she just sat there silent.

Sighing he said, "Some people just don't get it. I am not like every man out there who once had been cheated on would accept a sorry if their girlfriends want to come back. Dammit!"

"Do you still love her?" she asked.

"No I don't,"

"Then why are you angry?"

"Because when I heard her voice, that scene on her bad flashed back." Paul sighed. "I'm sorry Lee."

She smiled at him. "It's okay Paul, I understand. What is she doing here by the way?"

"Oh God!" he pressed his fore finger and thumb on his eyes. "She's here for the Car show!"

"Oh, that's... what a coincidence!"

"Fuck!" he muttered aloud.

"Why are you so worried?"

"Because she will never stop bothering me. I know her. She said she wants to come back here so we can talk. When I said no she said that I'm scared my girlfriend would get jealous of her."

Lee raised an eyebrow. "You have a girlfriend?" she asked clueless.

The angry Paul was now grinning. "She meant you."

Lee blushed. "Your girlfriend is insane."

"Ex," he corrected.

"Why should I be jealous of her if I was even your girlfriend? Is she even gorgeous in the first place?"

Paul shrugged, his angry face back again.

"Do you still have her picture?" she asked.

He shook his head. "Do you have Iam-zone?"

"I do," she nodded her head.

"You have?! Wow I tried looking for you."

"You did?" she looked at him closely.

"Yeah, I want to add you as friend."

"I don't check it everyday. It's been a long time since I last visited my account. Come on let me see your ex on Iam-zone."

Paul shook his head. "I blocked her so you can't check her from my account."

"Alright I'll check her myself. What's her name?"

"Jewel Kall,"

Lee typed the name quickly and a lot of woman with the same name came to view. "So which on is the one?"

Paul looked down on her phone and pressed the third in line.

"Wow!" Lee exclaimed when her phone displayed the ex's account profile. Jewel wore a pair of black bikini's, and her bikini top covering only her nipples with the triangular cloth. Her breast are huge probably a C cup or even more! "She's hot!"

"Nope," Paul disagreed. "She just have huge breasts, she doesn't have a waist or an ass. And she's thin."

"You don't have to say negative against her Paul even after you caught her sleeping with someone else." Lee sided on the ex.

"I'm just telling you the truth. She's beautiful, but not extraordinary. I've been trying to load her up with food, but she's always on a diet."

Lee raised an eyebrow. "What the hell? She's on a diet at this state?"

"She always think she's fat. She's anorexic."

"Damn!" Lee said aloud. "If she thinks she's fat, she probably thinks I'm a whale!"

Paul laughed. "You're crazy."

"Seriously! I'm bigger than she is, except that I don't have these pair of glorious boobs!"

Paul laughed harder. "Oh God! You're killing me Lee!"

Lee joined him laughing. "Your ex is weird."

"I know," Paul answered as their laughter died down. "I'm glad we broke up." He said looking into her eyes.

She stared back at him then looked away and felt her face turned red. "Her loss not yours," was all she said.
