17. Job Hunting

I woke up with Blake's arms around me. He was breathing heavy. We never got dressed last night. We just went to sleep. I lifted his arms off of me and went to me bathroom. I was about to step into the shower when someone knocked on the door. I wrapped a towel around myself and went to the front, I opened it, leaving the chain locked.

"Hi, we are the county sheriffs. We need to ask you a couple of questions and it will only take a little bit of your time." Some policemen said.

"Um, I am kinda busy right now. Um," I left the door cracked a little and walked over some so I could see into Blake's room. He was still laying in his bed. I came back to the door and they were all snickering. "Wow. You know what, why don't you send some more mature police, thank you." I said, shutting the door but one of them pushed it and broke the lock a little.

"No ma'am. We can't do that." He said. I looked at them with fear.

"Get away! Let go of the door!" I shouted.

"Ma'am! This is a murder investigation!" He said through clenched teeth. I felt someones hands on my hips. They picked me up and moved me over. It was Blake. He unlocked the door and pushed all of them away.

"I swear to god, if you come at my wife like that again! I will report you! I will get you fired! And then, I will come for you!" He said. Gosh, he had some anger problems but dang, he was so sexy when he got protective or mad. I smiled a little.

"I am sorry sir. We were unaware that you lived here and that use was married."

"So if she wasn't you would have done it anyways?! I have this all on film because of that right there." He said pointing to a camera on the wall. "I will be taking that film and reporting it to your parol officers. Thank you and have a nice day!" He said. He walked back into the apartment and slammed the door. He also, had a towel around his waist. I looked through the peep hole and they were standing there snickering. It made me so mad that they would do that and be so immature. Pervez.

"Thank you." I said to Blake, who was now at the counter making two frappès. He glanced back at me.

"No problem, but next time, try not to open a door when you are in a towel." He said. I looked down and saw that the towel was awfully short. "I don't mind you wearing it around here or nothing but not with guest." He said. I smiled and blushed a little.

"I don't just mean for that. I mean for last night." I said. He stopped the blender and looked back at me. He walked over to me and smiled.

"It was all you. So, thank you." He said. I smiled and stood on my tip toes and gave him a small kiss. We both smiled. " Go get your shower. I will keep your coffee cold." He smiled. I nodded and walked to my bathroom. The shower was still running. I jumped in and washed my body and my hair. I shaved and washed my face. When I got out, I dried off and blow dried my hair. After getting dressed I went into the kitchen and to my surprise, there was a huge breakfast sitting on the table. Ham, bacon, eggs, omelets, grits, fruit, sausage, toast, and our coffee. I breathed in and smelled the delightful aroma of all the food. I smiled and went to Blake who hasn't yet notice I was here. He was humming to the beat of, Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran. I wrapped my arms around him and kissed his back. I then squeezed him a little and just sat there with my head laying against his shoulder. He put an arm in the air and turned around. He kissed my forehead.

"Smells good." I said. He chuckled.

"Yes ma'am." We got our coffee and made our plates. We sat on the balcony and ate our food while looking over the city and the beach.

"You know, we have to find a job." I said, stuffing some fruit into my mouth. He nodded.

"I already looked in the newspaper. There are waitress and waiter jobs-"

"I rather have a real job. Like what we had." I cut him off. He nodded.

"With what we were, we can really get anything." He said.

"Um, I kinda want to be a kindergarten teacher." I said. We both smiled.

"Your into that stuff?" I nodded.

"I love kids. Well, little ones." I said.

"That's right. Cuz, you want some. First a boy so he can protect your daughter. Then a daughter. Then whatever happens." He said, eating a piece of his toast. I smiled and nodded. "I am sure I could get that arranged. A very good friend of mine is a principle."   He said. He stood up and walked inside.

"Wait." I said. But, what if something, happened. Like, with us. Would he fire me?" I asked. He jerked around and looked at me all hurt.

"Nothing. Ever. And I mean nothing. Will ever happen to us. We have committed ourselves to each other. Lost something very important to ourselves to each other. We are now one. We love each other and nothing will separate that. Will you ever break up with me?" He asked. My eyes got wide.

    "Never! Would you?" I asked.

"Of course not. So that means that we are stuck together forever. I promise nothing will ever happen. Can I tell you something?" He asked. I nodded.  "My parents knew each other for three months and got married on the fourth. They have been married for 36 years." I let my mouth drop a little.

"Oh my gosh. That's crazy" I said. He laughed.

"Yeah. I know. Oh, and you need to get into something nice because we are going to go out to eat at California Dreaming and then go see if we can get you that job." He said. I nodded and walked to my bedroom. I put on this dress that was tightish up top and kind of flowed down.  It went down to my ankles. I put on makeup and did my hair. I made myself look presentable. It will be hard to get a teaching job if I am only 18, almost 19. I walked out and Blake was waiting beside the door, on his phone, with my purse and keys in his other hand.

"That purse suits you." I said and winked at him when he looked up. We walked down to my car and pulled out. When  we finally got to California Dreaming, we ordered bread sticks, crab claws, and two bacon ranch burgers with sweet tea. When they brought back our drinks, they came back with, also, our food. The burgers were huge but delicious and so was everything else. The crab claws were amazing, the bread was garlic and buttered just right. When we were done, I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Some women looked at me all weird so I said I was going to an interview. They understood then. We walked out to the car and went over to the school. The kids were not out just yet. They still had three months left. We went to the office and just walked right to the principles office.

"Charly!" Blake called out to his friend. Charly stood up and gave Blake a big hug.

"Blake! What can I do for you?" He asked. He looked back at me and nodded. I waved and smiled.

"Well, as you might have noticed Belle and I lost our jobs. We were discovered when the explosion happened." Charly nodded. "Well, Belle here, she is my girlfriend and is looking for a job. She loved kids, she loves teaching, she worked with me, great with guns, great with body guard work, great with kids. She is just good at all this stuff. I would like to know if she can get an application." He said. Charly nodded.

"Of course. How old are you?" He asked. I stepped forward.

"19 in June." I said. His eyes widened.

"You could pass for 23. I need you to fill this out and then I will interview you myself. Blake will be here with us." He said. I smiled and took the form. We filled it out at the couches provided. I got out my social security card, my divers license, my birth certificate which I have to carry it everywhere. I went back into the office and sat down. I passed the form to Charly and he looked over it.

"Mm. Mhm. Ah. That is very impressive. Interesting. Ooh." He said. I smiled. "I don't even think you need an interview. I think you should have this job. You seem like a decant girl. You have all the right stuff! You even helped with a school for two years. I cleared my throat.

"Yes sir. I was 13." I said. He laughed.

"Well, it also says you homeschool and you tested with a college student and beat his score" He asked. I looked down trying to remember. It was tenth grade. I looked up and nodded.

"Yes. I remember" I laughed. He nodded again and read the rest of the stuff on the paper.

"I think that I can definitely get you a spot. You came just in time. We were looking for someone because Mrs. Montez is retiring." I smiled.

"Well, just call me when you make the choice. Or, call him." I said, tilting my head towards Blake. We both stood up and shook his hand. When I walked out of the school, Blake got a phone call.

"Uh huh. Yes sir. Mhm. Here she is." He handed the phone to me.

"Congrats Mrs. Rodriquez. You have got the job!" He said. I jumped up and down and laughed.

"Thank you so much!" I shouted. He laughed and then hung up. I looked at the phone. "Hello?" I said.

"He hangs up when the convo is over." Blake said, taking back his phone. He gave me a hug and then we went back to the house. When we got there Blake slowly cornered me into the wall. He pressed his lips to mine. I smiled and of course, interrupted the kiss. He looked at me a minute.

"Let's go to Belengrath Gardens." He said.  My eyes lit up. I love that place. It is so pretty! The lights. The music. The flowers. Everything is just so romantic.

"Alright." I said. We both smiled and kissed again. We went and got dressed. Blake had got a couple offers from restaurants. He took one at Long Horn Steak House. Of course.

"Let's go!" He said. I walked out and to my surprise, he was in a tux. I laughed. I was in a mini dress and my hair was curled and I had wedges on. We both admired each other and laughed. Exchanged smiles , hugs and kisses. Then we were out the door.
