3. Hospital Bed

Beep-Beep  Beep  Beep  Beep-Beep   I opened my eyes and felt a sharp pain in them. I look over and saw that the sun was shining into a window. The window was big. It wasn't familiar. I looked to my left and saw a bunch of machines. One that was connected to a bag with some kind of clear liquid. I reached up for it and felt a sharp stabbing feeling in my arm. I looked at my wrist which was wrapped and and above it was an IV. My vision was a little blurry. I looked down and noticed that I was in a hospital gown. Ugh. Dad must have found me. I tried getting up but my legs were pinned down. I sat up and tried tugging at the straps but they wouldn't budge. I pulled out the IV and sat it on the side table beside the bed. I scooted up towards the straps and followed my hands to where the straps ended which was underneath the bed. I felt a piece of paper. I pulled it out from the bed. It had some scribbling on it.

If you found this than I know that you are awake and trying to get out. There is a screw driver underneath the mattress. If you take it, there is a knife on the side. Cut the straps and meet me and my work across the street. Don't be afraid. I know what you did was something that you needed. I have done the same thing. I just want to meet you. -M

I have no clue who M is but I felt underneath the mattress where I was sitting. Whoever it was should have been smart enough to put it where I could reach. I heard the door knob start to wiggle. I stuck the not underneath the mattress and pushed the IV in the hole it had made in my arm. It didn't hurt. It felt the same as the blades. When the door opened, I looked at the person who had come through. I young women who was wearing light blue scrubs. The had pushed a cart into the room. Food I guess. She looked up and me and smiled.

"So your awake." She said. "I brought you some food if you wanted some. It's steak, water, yogurt, and potato soup. I made it. I didn't think you would want the cafeteria food. I know I wouldn't.: She said, placing the tray over me. She handed me a fork. "When you are done, I need you to ring this bell. I have something for you. But, its a secret. Don't tell." She patted my leg and walked out of the room. That's weird. Usually the nursed would say things like poor baby and I can't believe you would do that to yourself. They would give me gross food and try to feed me, give me medicine, and sit there and watch me. This one is, different. She didn't have a name tag either. I cut the steak and smelled it. No funky smell. So, I guess it's okay to eat. I put it into my mouth and chewed it, washing it down with the water. I finished it up and ate the yogurt. I pushed the tray to where my feet are. I really wanted to know what she has for me. So I pressed the button.

Beeeepppp The sound made me jump. It was loud. Did I press the wrong one? Anyone would have heard that. The door rattles again and in stepped the same women. She had nothing in her hands. Of course, a trick.

"You know, I think you should just leave. I know what you are doing." I said. She laughed.

"You do?" She said, reaching into her pocket. I tilted my head to the side. She pulled out an orange pill bottle. "No, I am not a nurse. No, I didn't put the note underneath your bed. No, I am not going to make you pass out and kill you. I am here to help you. Well, help you get out of here. I am just like you. You don't know what that means yet but, you will find out soon. Here." She said passing me a pill.

"What is it?" I asked turning it over in my hand. She smiled.

"Percocet." She said. I nodded and swallowed the pill with the water.

"So, what am I still doing here?" I asked.

"You need another hour of sleep. We have a lot of stuff to do. It's not something that you need to tell anyone about though. Your father knows. He sent us."

     "Us?" I asked. She nodded.

"Who do you think wrote the note?" She asked. "Rest for a moment. Then we will be gone." She said. I nodded and laid my head on the pillow and closed me eyes, slowly drifting into a sleep.
