Taryn was always different from the other girls. She always felt as if she was meant to be somewhere else. One day she falls asleep and is whisked away to a world of soundless music, golden skies, fireflies, and twinkling stars. She meets a mysterious boy named Seph in a series of these dreams, but after a while, Taryn starts to suspect (maybe hope) that this alternate universe is more than just a dream. Based on the song: Fireflies by Owl city

2. Chosen

You would not believe your eyes

If ten million fireflies

Lit up the world as I fell asleep

'Cause they'd fill the open air

And leave teardrops everywhere

You'd think me rude

But I would just stand and stare.

This next part is difficult to explain. I'm still debating as to whether this was a dream or not. Anyhow, this is what happened. I opened my eyes. It was pitch black out, and I admit it, I was scared. Yes, that's right. Taryn Oaks was scared.  I felt my way around, trying to get to the clearing where maybe there would be some moonlight. It was cold, and my breath was fogging in the air, even though it was July. I felt another tree and stepped into the clearing. And that's when my life changed forever.

They were everywhere. The clearing was one big crowd of glowing fireflies, but the world was different. The trees were purple, the sky was golden, and the grass smelled like onions. I suddenly got a feeling. this is where I had to be. right here. Right now. This is what I was meant to do. I saw, suddenly a boy on the other side of the clearing. He looked just as surprised as I did. We locked eyes. His were brown, and in them I saw everything and anything. The fireflies in the middle of the clearing flew over to him, and, to my surprise. Clung onto his jacket, making a glowing neon tie. He laughed. Somehow I could hear him from where I was. His laugh was clear and bubbly. He started to approach me, and I did the same. I looked into his eyes, and saw my reflection. The fireflies had landed in my hair, and it looked better than any normal jewlery would. The boy looked down at his lightning bug tie and said, "I guess the fireflies have a sense of humor." He smiled. So did I. This was so confusing, but somehow it felt right. "Is this a dream?" I whispered. I needed to know. He seemed to think about it for a moment, and finally said. "Well, if it is, we had better make the best of it before we wake up."
